you with me

Summary:

The last thing Mok felt was a sharp pain running near his abdomen before his vision went completely black and he lost consciousness.

Notes:

I had this idea while watching the preview for the next episode. I need Mok to get shot and Rome to come running to him so they can finally be together.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The last thing Mok felt was a sharp pain running near his abdomen before his vision went completely black and he lost consciousness.

Rome had just left a meeting when he received news that Mok had been shot. He received a message from Thee, his brother, with only three words "Mok was shot." He was desperate, tried to call him, but the call only went to voicemail.

And before he could understand what he was doing, with fear and despair controlling his body, he found himself demanding his private jet and a trip to Thailand at that very moment.

And so it was done. Even though he shouldn't have left Russia because of his responsibilities, the only thing on his mind was whether Mok was alright and who the wretch was who dared to hurt him. The journey was unsettling, Rome couldn't stay still or keep his mind occupied. When he set foot in Thailand, there were already some cars waiting for him, which took him immediately to the hospital where Mok was.

He entered as if he owned the place, with some security guards behind him, obviously, and he went straight to the emergency room, where he saw his brother with Peach, his boyfriend whom he had heard Mok mention a few times during their brief phone calls.

"Where is he? Is he alright?" Rome fired off a barrage of questions while standing in front of Thee.

"He's in surgery... his condition is serious, but the doctors said his chances of survival are high, since the bullet didn't hit any vital organs," Peach answered, knowing his boyfriend wouldn't be able to say anything. Rome and Thee exchanged a look.

"Who did this?" Rome asked in a serious voice.

"Leonis, Carlos Leoni," Thee replied to his brother. A single glance from Rome to his bodyguards was enough for them to understand the message and start speaking on the radio. May God have mercy on that man, because the Arsenis certainly wouldn't.

Hours passed, silence filling the room, and Rome growing increasingly uneasy. Every fifteen minutes he asked anyone passing by in the corridor about Mok's situation, and the answer was always the same:

"Everything is going well, but we need to be as careful as possible." He exchanged a few words with his brother and Peach. Although Thee tried to appear calm, both knew he was extremely worried. Above all else, Mok was his friend, and the guilt of not being the one who took the shot was consuming him.

When the doctors emerged from the operating room, Rome was the first to stand, waiting for the doctor to say something.

"He's stable, but due to the anesthesia and some medication, he might remain unconscious for another three or four days. He's already in his room; you can visit him," the doctor said, pulling off his surgical mask and heading off with his assistants.

Rome rushed towards the rooms and saw Mok lying in bed, his eyes closed, with several IV lines in his arm. Then Thee and Peach went in. They stayed until nightfall, when they returned home, Rome obviously refusing to leave Mok alone. He spent the whole night watching Mok, seeing every detail of the man he loved, whom he almost lost, and then he decided he wouldn't wait any longer.

Mok woke up three days later, initially disoriented. The nurses checked him and everything was fine; he just needed complete rest for the wound to heal faster.

"Khun Rome... Peach told me you've been here for four days without leaving my side for a single second. You should go home and rest, and from your job you—" The bodyguard was speaking but was soon interrupted.

"No, no Mok, I can't leave you," Rome said. "I left you once, and look? You ended up in the hospital. I won't let you go for a second." He insisted, holding Mok's hands in his own. "Mok... nothing is more important than you. I don't want to waste time... Mok, please agree to stay with me."

"Khun Rome, it's not that simple..." the older man said after a sigh.

"I'll handle it. I'll talk to my parents. Mok, for you I'll do anything... just tell me what you really want. Do you want to stay with me?" The mobster continued, his eyes filled with hope as he looked at the other.

"Yes... Rome, you know I really want to be with you." That was all it took for Rome.

"Mok... let me kiss you," he said, bringing his intertwined hands to the other's cheek. Mok didn't say anything, only nodded. Rome moved slowly, leaving space in case Mok wanted to pull back. When their lips touched, it was light and gentle. They pulled away slightly, but Rome returned for another kiss, beginning to move his mouth gently and feeling Mok reciprocate.

"You know, I could propose to you right now," was the first thing Rome said when their lips parted, though their foreheads remained touching.

"Rome..." Mok replied, giving his boyfriend's arm a light tap, while a blush spread across his cheeks.

Almost two months had passed since Mok left the hospital. Rome confronted his father and said he would stay with Mok no matter what, and gradually the relationship was accepted.

Now they were both lying in bed, the sunlight streaming through the window bathing Mok in golden light made him look beautiful. Rome couldn't stop looking at his boyfriend.

"Hmm... why are you looking at me?" Mok said sleepily.

"You look absolutely gorgeous," Rome replied, looking at him affectionately. Mok responded briefly

"So..." Rome began, "about last night... everything alright? Is your injury hurting? Or anywhere else?" he continued, his voice a little shy. Mok buried his face in the pillow, memories of what they did last night flooding his mind.

"Hmm... everything's fine, I said I didn't have any pain in my injury, I just..." Mok's voice gradually faded, "I just have a little pain in my hips," he finished, looking away from his boyfriend.

"Oh, I'm sorry, I knew I shouldn't have been so rough. I'm sorry, it's just that you telling me not to stop and all that obscen-" and before he could finish, Mok silenced him with a quick kiss.

"Just shut up," he grumbled as he settled at Rome's bare chest, who only let out a soft chuckle, and they stayed like that for quite a while.
