It’s been a few months ever since that day, where you gave part of your soul to make Casper human.
The situation was rather overwhelming. From a cat on fire, which you still wonder how it was possible. To you sneaking out of Casper’s apartment and then entering the library where it held the answer to yours and Casper’s problems. You can still remember how light you felt, how relieved you were that Casper was now safe and mortal. And how it got you off the death list. How 5012 couldn’t kill you anymore and couldn’t send Casper into termination, much to the rule abiding reaper’s charring. Then, being sent back home. With Casper in your arms.
And everything felt… right.
“Sunshine.”
You blinked out of your thoughts when you felt a finger brush against your cheek. You turned around and chuckled, giving a bright smile to the one and only; Casper. Former Grim Reaper and now a mortal alongside you.
“Yes, Grim?” You said.
Your eyes wandered. To the little apron Casper wore, to the hair tucked into a low ponytail. Those beautiful, alluring scarlet eyes you cherished. That handsome face. Yes, every risk and sacrifice, no matter how stupid you were, was worth the effort.
“I thought I told you not to call me that.” Casper grimaces, clearly cringing at the nickname. No matter how much he tells you to quit it, you simply don’t.
You love teasing this man after all. You have his heart and he has yours.
“Too bad~” You replied before patting Casper on the head.
You move away, admiring the blush that rises onto your man’s cheeks. It suits him, it was something you could always pull off, teasing the hell out of the love of your life.
The small store was filled with flowers. Just below the bottom of your apartment building. It was yours and Casper’s safe haven. It was yours and his. It held the warmth you both have for each other and how your nickname was born that left Casper’s lips. Something you both own and adore.
There was a selection of sunflowers and each were just as bright, all taken care of under gentle supervision. Each petal was a healthy yellow and no ruin in sight. It all stood tall and mighty, like it had survived the mightiest of storms. You couldn’t help but feel the tug of your lips curl into a soft smile. Casper has taken care of these sunflowers, every hour and everyday. There was no broken petal in sight. He treasures them.
Just like how he treasures you.
You wouldn’t dare ruin it and definitely not pluck them from the stem. Instead, you yanked Casper by the arm, pulling him close to the sunflowers. He was startled by the suddenness but lets you pull him around.
You positioned him right in front of the sunflowers, the sunlight hitting the scene at just the right angle. It complemented not only the sunflowers but also Casper as well. He calls you sunshine, because of how bright your soul was when you first met each other. But now…
“...It suits you,” You intertwined your fingers with his. “...The sunflowers suit you too.”
Casper’s cheeks dusted in pink before he pulls you close, a smile right on his face. The two of you were close, bodies clustered together, and noses touching. You could feel the brush of Casper’s lips against yours.
“I guess it fits the both of us.”
You couldn’t help but agree with your former Grim Reaper now mortal as he pulled you into a kiss. This dork, your boyfriend…
This was yours and it was also Casper’s.
Your lives.
As mortals.
