Work Text:
Aubrey Posen really didn’t know what the hell she was doing right now.
She graduated. She was in Law School. Yet, she found herself back at the Bella house with a red solo cup in her hand like she went back in time a year.
Chloe asked her to come for their hood night, and she had an apartment only a few miles from Campus since she was going to Barden Law School.
The first year with Beca as captain and the team added one new addition, Flo Fuentes, an exchange student from Guatemala that had a nice voice, but even better moves. She was a classically trained gymnast, and with her help they could really add to the choreography. They just had to adjust to some of the wild things out of her mouth. She was almost like Fat Amy….you never knew what she would say next…but darker.
She took another sip from the absolutely deadly concoction from her cup and scrunched her nose as she scanned the room. Beca and Chloe were sitting in an oversized chair together. Chloe was basically in the smaller woman’s lap. Aubrey raised a brow. Chloe hadn’t told her anything about that. She honestly didn’t know which one she would rather be. She took another swig and tried to swallow down the feelings creeping in.
“SPIN THE BOTTLE!” Amy’s voice rang out like a megaphone above the crowd and music.
A few groans and a lot of cheers spanned from the crowd.
“Seriously, dude!” Beca said loudly. “Spin the bottle?”
Aubrey could practically hear the eye roll across the room, and she laughed to herself that the brunette voiced the same thoughts she had.
“OOOO,” Chloe hopped out of her lap. “Good idea, Amy!” She reached back and yanked Beca up. Beca gave a few protests but they all seemed for show rather than her actually complaining.
She was planning on melting into the shadows and pulling an Irish goodbye, but Chloe locked eyes with her across the room.
“BREE!” She yelled. “Come sit by us!” she said as she bounded through the crowd to grab her.
“I don’t think so,” Aubrey said. “I think I am going to go home and let you all enjoy it.”
Chloe grabbed her wrists and stepped forward, never one to care about things like personal space. Her eyes were starting to glaze over with liquor and Aubrey could smell the vodka on her breath. “Nonsense. You got to stay. PLEAAAASE,” she said in exaggeration with her bottom lip poked out.
Aubrey sighed. She knew she was done for. It was really really hard to say no to Chloe Beale. “Okay, Chloe. I’ll stay.”
Chloe jumped up and squealed loudly. “Awes!” She said as she pulled Aubrey to the already forming circle and plopped them down next to Beca with Chloe in the middle.
“She got you too, Posen?” Beca said over her own solo cup.
“Yeah, it appears so,” Aubrey replied. She crossed her legs and kept perfect posture.
“I’m very persuasive,” Chloe giggled as she leaned against Aubrey’s side.
“I think Chloe could talk a cat into water,” Beca laughed. Her left hand rubbed over Chloe’s right knee.
Stacie leaned in and spun the bottle first. It landed on a freshman that just got accepted into the Trebles. She crossed the circle like she was on the hunt, and she laid one hell of a kiss on him. The boy looked like his every wish came true as he settled back in his spot.
The game went around for a long time. A bunch of comical mixes and matches of people. Some took it seriously. Most treated it like a joke. Wolf whistles and encouragement from the crowd egged the mix matched couples on.
And then Chloe spun the bottle. The bottle spun and spun and spun until it finally landed on Aubrey.
Aubrey took a deep breath. Oh, it’s going to be a long night. She didn’t need a reminder of what kissing Chloe felt like. They had spent most of their college years in and out of each other’s bed. Up until the situation at Nationals where Aubrey blew it. Literally. After that happened, she shut everyone out. Everyone including Chloe. And by the time she pulled her head out of her ass, Chloe started showing interest elsewhere.
Chloe grinned. Aubrey set her glass down and stared at the bottle like it was somehow out to get her. Chloe pulled on her shirt and got Aubrey to turn to her. She winked at her before she leaned in and kissed her. Really kissed her. Chloe’s hand put her hands in her hair and deepened until the cheers and whistles made her pull away.
Aubrey licked her lips as she pulled away. She immediately grabbed her drink just to have something to do. She could feel her face burn, and she couldn’t turn to look at Chloe.
Beca spun the bottle next and it landed on Chloe.
“Looks like I’m the lucky one tonight,” Chloe giggled and she turned to Beca and kissed her exactly like she did Aubrey.
Aubrey cleared her throat as the same cheers erupted. She stood and made a beeline for the porch.
She rubbed over her face and poured the rest of her drink out. She pulled out a phone to order an uber. She froze when she heard the back door open. The babble and noise of the crowd bleeding through louder for a brief second.
“Hey, Bree, what are you doing out here?” Chloe asked as she stepped forward.
“I think I am going to go home,” she said.
“Why are you leaving already?” Chloe asked.
Aubrey turned and gave her a strained smile. “I have had about all the hood night activities I can handle.”
“Are you jealous?” Chloe asked after a moment.
Aubrey sucked her teeth. “That is ridiculous.” No, it isn’t. “Of who?” she asked.
“Of her? Or of me? I don’t know, Bree, but something is wrong,” she said.
“I don’t know, Chlo,” Aubrey ducked her head and huffed. “I’m upset I blew it with you. And I’m jealous she didn’t.”
Chloe stepped forward and rubbed over her shoulders with both hands. Aubrey slowly lifted her head to look into her eyes. “What are you doing, Chloe?”
“I miss you too, Aubrey,” she said as she stepped closer and pressed her against the railing of the back porch.
“What about her?” Aubrey whispered.
“This is about me and you,” Chloe said softly. “If you are upset you blew it, then show me, Aubrey.”
A myriad of emotions flashed across Aubrey’s face. Her eyebrows scrunched together for a minute before she dropped the empty cup still clutched in her hand and brought her hands to sink in Chloe’s hair and pull her forward. She kissed her deeply, and Chloe returned the same enthusiasm.
Chloe pulled back and rested her forehead on Aubrey’s. “I know your mind is racing with a million questions. And you want answers and structures and rules. But for just tonight, I am begging you to just shut your brain off.”
“Chlo,” she whispered. “What do you mean?”
“I am going to invite you to come up to mine and Beca’s room and have fun,” she said. “And then tomorrow we can have a conversation with questions and answers and structures and rules,” she said as her hands rubbed over her hips.
Aubrey’s eyes closed and a small groan came from her throat. “And you think she will agree to that?” she asked.
“I promise you that Beca Mitchell will have no problem with both of us in her bed tonight,” Chloe said as she leaned in and kissed her neck.
Aubrey could feel every bit of her resolve slipping. “A-and we can talk tomorrow? Really talk?”
“I swear on my Bella scarf,” she said as she pressed another kiss to her neck.
“Okay,” she grunted. “Okay, Chlo. Take me to your room.”
