Work Text:
Today was weird. Their normally strict teacher gave them a study period for today since an emergency happened, everyone was doing anything except actually studying. Savannah found it weirder that Tamarack was the only one who actually did what the teacher asked for, not because she usually broke rules, but because of the fact Tam was still on her best behavior despite all the freedom that's been given to the whole class.
"Psst, what are you reading?" Savannah interrogates Tamarack, bending her back down to peep on her friend's activity. Normally, if someone else did this, Tam would not enjoy it. However, it's oddly endearing for her that Sav is very much interested in what she's doing. She giggles, facing towards Savannah.
Tamarack gets her pad paper out, and stares at her friend back. "You're bored, aren't you?" She teases the brunette, and Sav doesn't even try to hide it, nodding frantically. "I'm going to die of boredom. Serenity and Vianca are in other classes, you're out here studying like your life depends on it." They pout, and Tam carefully tears the paper from its spine, placing it in between her and Savannah.
"What's this?" Sav raises her eyebrow, and Tamarack chuckles, nudging Savannah with her elbow. "We're doing things the old-fashioned way, writing on paper and hoping for the best." She responds, and they beam, nodding happily as they start writing on the paper. Savannah was intrigued by the idea, and feels her heart warm at Tamarack remembering her old mannerism.
"Tama, when are we eating outside again? I want to hang out with you :("
Savannah doodles on the paper, before presenting it to Tamarack. She looks into their eyes and giggles heartily, before writing down a response on the paper.
"With Vianca and Serenity?"
Tammy passes the paper to her friend, and Savannah scoots closer, nearly pressing their friend into the wall—that was a sign she wanted to be as close as possible. She giggles at Sav's antics, deciding to ask her what's going on verbally. "You're squeezing me!!" Tamarack chuckles, poking her friend's cheek. Enthusiastically, Savannah leans into her touch.
"I'm making it obvious that I want us to go out, alone." Savannah responds in a straightforward manner, but they quickly become flustered, not knowing what took over them in that moment. At first, Tamarack was speechless, but she feels her heart flutter. Tilting her head slightly, she stares into Sav's blue and green irises.
Tamarack blinks, "Sure, it's a date then." Without hesitation, she agrees to their request and Savannah turns to look at Tammy. She smiles at the golden-haired girl, and felt her heart beating faster.
Immediately after Tamarack agrees, Savannah squeezes her friend. "Thank you!!!" She exclaims, and Tam giggles, hugging her back, shyly but warmly. Sav shakes Tamarack in the hug and she closes her eyes, laughing even more. She presses down on her eyelids even more, "I'm getting dizzy, Sav!" Tammy laughs, and they pull away timidly.
"I might've gotten a bit too excited." Sav responds timidly; normally, she was hyper and straightforward. However, she can't help but get a bit shy whenever the girl she likes is around. Tamarack giggles, finding her excitement adorable. She rips out a medium-sized part of the half-empty pad paper, and writes words on it before folding it and giving it to Savannah.
They raise an eyebrow, showing Tamarack a puzzled expression. "Huh?" She tilts her head, observing the piece of paper carefully. Tam chuckles dotingly, not knowing why she just won't unfold the paper. "Unfold it, I want to see your reaction!"
Savannah chuckles, a bit worried on what's written. However, they immediately blush when they see the letters on the pad paper.
"You have really pretty eyes <3"
They scoff, but not in a way where she's disgusted or annoyed. Sav was embarrassed, refusing to look at Tamarack because she doesn't want her to see her bashful state. "You've still got it." They retort teasingly, scratching the back of their head.
"Got what?" Tamarack grins, placing her elbow on the table as she presses her cheek against the back of her hand to look at Savannah's facial expression more carefully. "You're still as straightforward as you were before, Tammy." Savannah grins at the thought,
"I guess I'm the only one who can bring this side out of you."
