Work Text:

Aisha Marie Rose Harrods is about 12 years old when she draws her Magical Girl outfit.

Technically, this isn't her first time drawing herself as a Magical Girl. She's been doing so since she was little, old enough to watch Magical Girl shows and hold crayons. But those were just stick figures in a woobly dress and a stick for a wand. Aisha's a much better artist now, and she's decided going to design herself the most beautiful magical girl dress anyone has ever seen.

She sets her finished homework to the side, and grabs her sketchbook, flipping through page after page doodles of various Magical Girls and other pretty things until she eventually finds a blank page. She grabs every pink shade marker she has - Aisha knows what her Magical Girls colour is going to be. Once she pulls up a couple of refrences of her favourite Magical Girls - among them being Aisha from Winx (she likes the fact that that they share a name), Talia from Lolirock, Sailor Moon, and a good deal of Precure protagonists - she's ready.

Two and half hours, several pencil and eraser shavings, frustrated tears, and many pink markers laker, she's done it. Aisha grins as she holds up the finished piece, her Magnum Opus. Her hands are stained in pink, it's 8 pm, she's cried several times while making it, but she's done it.

Her dream Magical Girl outfit has layer after layer of thrills and hearts on the skirt and bodice. There are bows aplenty - on her shoes, her socks, the ends of the skirt, as a neck tie at the front and a massive one at the back. Her hair is in massive, poofy pigtails, tied up with ribbons that stretch on for miles. And it's absoloutley coated in the prettiest shades of pink, as if the design had been pulled from a sea of sparkling pink glitter. Her want is taller than her, with yet another ribbon tied around it and a huge glowing pink crystal at top, with  Needless to say, Aisha is absoloutley proud of herself.

She carefully cuts the page out, and sticks it to the wall in front of her bed with blue-tac. She wants to wake up every morning and see herself as Magical Girl, as if the dream might actually come true one day so long as she can see the pretty pink.

---

Aisha is 16 when she does become a Magical Girl. It's everything she dreamed of since she was young, and even better. She has the five most amazing girls she's ever met as not just her team mates, but her friends. She actually has friends now. It's the best feeling in the world.

Her actual Magical Girl outfit (she can't believe she actually got one, she still can't believe she's actually a Magical Girl now) is as pink and pretty as she'd dreamed it would be. There are ribbons and frills applenty - not quite to the extent that there were in that drawing she did when she was tweleve, but there's enough of them to make her squeal when she looks down at it, twirls about in it. Her wand is smaller than she imagined it would be, but more Magical than she ever could have dreamed it would be, so wonderful to hold in her hands and use that magic to save the day.

She still has that drawing, even after all that time. It's safely tucked away in a box of her old artwork, drawings she treasured too much to let go of and just leave in England. Semtimentality's always been her vice.

Sometimes she'll take it out, compare her dream to it's reality. It's a bit more crumpled now, but it's miraculously managed to stay in fairly good shape in the last four years. On an artistic level, she thinks she could do a lot better if she were to draw it now. But otherwise, Aisha's proud of it as ever. It's a reminder of how far she's come, that her dream really did come true.

That twelve year old girl who dreamed of pretty pink will always be a part of her.

Notes:

Aishaaaaa my sweet girl. I love her so much. My everything. My specialist girl in the whole wide world. Unfortunatley not everything I write about her will be this Joyous but she will stay silly regardless.
