Work Text:
“He’s already given us what was required, but Nazarick cannot afford to be seen as liars. Appease the human. I doubt it will take very long.”
Albedo carefully slid a few stray hairs into place, smoothing them to a perfect position. Her wings fluttered, adjusting themselves naturally. There was no mirror in this room, but she was certainly more than adequate for whatever this worthless bug might need. ‘Appease the human that served Nazarick’. That’s what humans are supposed to do, why this one in particular deserved any time was beyond her–but that hardly mattered. Her love wished for her to please it, so that’s what she would do. This human would be so happy when it left that Lord Momonga would see her efforts and perhaps even praise her himself!
She could hear his deep, resonant, voice already. ‘You’ve served me well, Albedo. I’ve felt your love and loyalty… you deserve a reward.’ His large hands would wrap around her waist, pulling her to his chest, and how could she deny her lover anything as he finally took her!?
The steady flutter of her wings whipped into a flurry, the small room cooling from the breeze.
Slowly, Albedo took a breath. She would have to earn that honor first.
Right on cue, there was a knock at the door. There was no need for her to answer, it was only a signal that the human was being delivered. She heard the door open, then close, but it never spoke. Irrelevant. Albedo deliberately turned, mercifully going at a pace that allowed this creature to take in all her glory. Then, she laid her eyes on him, fully.
There was clearly an effort from the human to look presentable. He wore a somewhat high-quality suit, some type of satin weave that shone in the light. Bell sleeves and a vest managed to frame his thin body well, and long pants made him look even taller. It would have been nice had it been worn by anything other than this worthless trash.
“Hi–” the human finally spoke, raising its arm to awkwardly wave at her. Still, Albedo smiled sweetly at the pathetic display. That alone made the human shrink in on himself as he made his way to the table between them.
“Did you… or uhh, could I pull out your chair?”
He stood at the side of the table. Halfway between both their places, eagerly looking up at her as he awaited her answer. What an odd way to start the conversation, trying to be a suave gentleman but failing in every important metric. She agreed anyway.
“Thank you, that would be lovely.”
The human quickly moved, almost leaping towards her in excitement. Albedo mentally braced for his filth brushing against her, but thankfully that never happened. He was somewhat careful despite his spindly limbs, maneuvering around her and grabbing hold of the chair. Dragging it out like he intentionally wanted it to squeal against the stone floor. Albedo smiled through his complete lack of elegance. Maintaining her poise, she smoothed her dress down to sit as a lady should; carefully not leaning against her seat’s back to minimize any potential touch. She could feel his hands shaking through his grip on the chair. At least he knew to do something like fear her. Though, if that was truly the case, this human would have never asked to waste her time with something so puerile.
He pushed her in with slightly more grace, though he likely just lacked the strength to move her properly as he didn’t get her nearly as close as she ought to be. Though that was a blessing. Now she could sit further from this dirt-covered Neanderthal while still ‘appeasing him’.
The man stepped away the moment he was satisfied. Albedo could feel his eyes on her the entire time he went to his own seat. Still staring at her slack-jawed when he finally sat down.
He was actually taller than her by quite a bit, but there would be no way to know that with his terrible slouch. His neck bent horribly low so that he might view her at eye level. He almost seemed content to just gawk at her. While Albedo of course knew her beauty, there were more valuable things she could be doing with this time.
“Would you like to get started?”
Her voice was sweeter than honey, lulling the human down further when it reached his ears.
“Yeah, I’d love to,” was all he said while letting out a dreamy sigh. Albedo did not feel like speaking again so soon, choosing instead to incline her head slightly. Creating a practiced look of adorable confusion that encouraged people to keep speaking. An endearing face to be sure, perhaps one of her best. And the human clearly agreed.
“Umm, could I ask about you?”
“But of course! What would you like to know?”
Albedo responded with kindness, as was her order, but that plain question brought so many more to the surface. Clearly this human was impressive if Lord Momonga wished to reward it at all, but it was so feeble and pedestrian that she simply could not fathom what useful thing he could have possibly done. Her love was never wrong, but perhaps there was more to this human than initially seen. Manipulating her master in an effort to get closer to her? Why bother with that when her master was already impressed? Wherever that might lead was still beyond the succubus, but her posture became imperceptibly more rigid as she steeled her mind against whatever deception might be in store.
Meanwhile the foolish human was practically jumping in his chair. He thought for sure that she’d hate him–at least be mean to him–but that response alone was enough to fill him with hope. He could finally have the conversation of his dreams if she kept being so patient.
“Thank you!” He pulled his seat closer to the table, practically pressing his chest against it. “What is your… Or, uh, sorry. First, my name’s Neck. Of course I know who you are…”
Albedo fought the instinct to crinkle her nose at that ridiculous name while he rattled off more pleasantries. Who he was, the middling magic he could do, who his “associate” was, the street urchin lives they’d had before. All tales Albedo couldn’t care less about. His pathetic stories would not endear him to her, no matter how much he tried.
Finally this ‘Neck’ said something worthwhile.
“Sorry if I rambled too much, I don’t want to waste your time here. I really do–there's so many little things about you I need to know.”
Albedo tilted her head slightly, “Please, don’t worry about time. If Lord Ainz thinks you are worthwhile, nothing you tell me could ever be a waste.”
That small encouragement was enough to have the man letting out another wistful sigh. She worried he might go nonverbal again but he broke the silence.
“So, how was your day?”
Albedo blinked to mask her surprise. This human might look plain but something about him was important. She reminded herself to stay cautious, but she would have to answer.
“I suppose its been very peaceful, all things considered.”
Neck let out a breathy laugh at the statement. She knew it wasn’t meaning offense, at least that’s what she told herself in order to not kill him where he sat.
“I’m so happy to hear that. What’d you get int–or, what did you do?”
“Well,” Albedo carefully considered her words, “It started fairly slowly. Lord Ainz was not within Nazarick this morning so I took my time with getting ready. Had a bath drawn, washed my hair, even worked on a personal project of mine before Lord Ainz came home. As Overseer I must of course greet him and inform of any relevant happenings within the Tomb. It was actually right at the end of my report that you and your ‘associate’ were taken from the outskirts.”
She scrutinized his features as she spoke but found nothing other than pure adoration. A small flash of disappointment seemed to cross his face when he realized she was done speaking but still hadn’t done anything outwardly disrespectful.
“Terribly sorry we interrupted you, Lady Albedo. That would never be my intention.”
She would have politely rebuffed his self-depreciating politeness again, but he continued.
“I…hm. Would you mind if I asked what kind of projects you like working on in your free time? Are you an artist?”
Neck already knew. Had a general idea anyways. He didn’t want to lead her with any questions or seem weird right out the gate, but he just couldn’t help himself when it came to little tidbits like this. She could answer with any number of things, but watching her painstakingly work on her fabric crafts–be it on dolls, clothes, body pillows–it had been a joy watching her improve so quickly in her more creative work. Apparently Demiurge had a similar love for sculpting or painting, that’s what Dee told him anyway, but he couldn’t possibly care. Not when the perfect woman was sitting in front of him.
She’d seemed slightly surprised by the question. Neck learned her subtle expressions well enough to know Albedo was thinking and that, unfortunately, it wouldn’t last long at all.
“That certainly wouldn’t be incorrect.”
Neck leaned forward, dropping his voice to an unnecessary, near conspiratorial whisper.
“I- I thought so. You’re so meticulous and detail-oriented. Anything you create would certainly be wonderful. I- you’re just–” He drummed his fingers lightly against the table, completely incapable of finishing whatever thought he’d had. Those compliments were worrisome on their own, but Albedo patiently waited for him to continue. After a deep breath, the man suddenly took to the floor.
“I don’t need to ask you anything. Not really. I already know that you’re amazing and all I really need to say is that I love you.” He crawled along the stones to be nearer, but not disrespectfully so. Laying before her and holding up his hands in prayer. “Ever since I first saw you, I knew that you were perfection incarnate. Watching you work has been the greatest honor I’ve ever had in my life,” He peered up slightly at her. “I’m sorry to dump all that so fast, but you are truly remarkable. The perfect woman in every sense of the term and I couldn’t give up this opportunity to tell you that truth.”
Neck pressed himself upwards to a kneel. “You are wonderful…” he paused for a moment, as if whatever he was thinking now would be overstepping, “And you’re a way better choice than Shalltear for sure.”
Finished with his mini speech he stood up, stepping back and bowing at the hips. His messy hair fell as he did and remained a slovenly tangle over his face when he went back to his chair. For potentially the first time in her life, she was stunned into silence. Albedo knew she felt disgust, there was not much else to feel when a worm spoke to her with feelings of ‘love’. But for once in her life she needed a moment to process it all. She could not kill him for his words, but she certainly wouldn’t be ‘appeasing’ that. However, the human was somehow not done talking.
“Oh, I don’t want to replace Lord Ainz in any way. That would be– He is the man for you just like you’re the woman for him, but I had to tell you how amazing you are. Not pointing out your perfection would really be a lie. Blasphemy even.”
It was only when the human fell silent again that Albedo realized her mask had dropped fully. She could feel her brow knit together and upper lip curled slightly in revulsion. She shook her head, desperately pulling herself back together. She could think whatever she liked but allowing a human of all things to ruin her façade was utterly disgraceful.
Her serene smile returned as she ran through his words once more in her mind. She needed to acknowledge his feelings, ‘appease him’, but any way of doing so brought a foul taste of bile to the back of her throat. Then was the matter of how much he knew. Her aim of being Lord Momonga’s bride, Shalltear’s feeble attempts to win that title for herself, two things no human had any right to know. A gentle prod seemed like her only option for now.
“You believe me a better bride than Shalltear?”
It was simple, and the giggle she added along with it was certainly enough to have him thinking it was asked in pure vanity.
Neck fell for the bait completely, breaking into a grin at the idea of talking about her greatness more.
“Of course! Um,” he raised a hand like a diplomat, “not to disrespect the Great One or any of his servants, he's selected you all for your unique skills and values which are all beneficial to him in your own special ways, but here I mainly mean being Lord Ainz’s wife. And it’s really no question which of you would be better in that role.”
He paused for a moment to see if she had anything to say for that. When she only smiled brighter at him, Neck took that as permission to continue.
“Like, you’ve made the baby clothes, you’re learning how to cook, not to mention how great you already are with management and logistics. You'd be an amazing wife in any household and even Lord Ainz is lucky to have someone like you loving him.”
They were the words of a worthless human, but that almost made them sweeter. It was so obvious; even this fool knew her greatness to be the truth. Her smile became just slightly genuine at the thought, but there was still the matter of how he knew these things. She could easily gather that his knowledge and the ways he attained it are what interested her Lord in the first place, but it would be her failing if she did not learn as much as possible with this opportunity. That's likely the very reason Lord Momonga allowed this meeting in the first place–he knew Albedo would be smart enough to easily glean every bit of information from this fool.
She nodded along with his words, finding a small amount of enjoyment with how deeply his face flushed at the prolonged eye contact. Patiently waiting for another one of his pauses which didn’t take long at all. The man quickly became flustered and averted his gaze to the table.
“I simply must ask,” he instantly looked back at her with rapt attention, “where did you learn all this information?”
Neck sprawled his hands against the wood of the table. The amount of fidgeting one could do while they were supposed to be seated was truly astounding.
“Yeah, of course,” he said rather dumbly. Attempting to quietly clear his throat before sitting up slightly straighter.
“It all started with me and my associate, we had gone to the market to find any old food that might have had their cost lowered.”
Albedo sighed internally. She already knew this human to be a long-winded one, but it was clear he would be taking his sweet time in getting to the point.
He was simply relishing in the fact that he had something, anything, Albedo wanted. Whatever he could do for her, he’d do to the fullest. Neck thought carefully about his past month, ensuring he remembered every possible piece of relevant information.
“We had already gotten enough to last a few days but didn’t have much else to do so Dee or, my associate,” he quickly corrected himself, “She decided we should take a look around the discounted items area cause maybe there would be something good. You never know what people are trying to give away, y’know?”
She startled slightly at the question, the subtle widening of her eyes being the only perceptible reaction.
“Yes, of course. Lord Ainz always encourages us to see the value in the seemingly insignificant.”
Albedo pointedly left out the fact that humans were among those insignificant. That was hardly relevant. All that mattered now is he was pleased with her answer, continuing on in his story.
“Right! That’s what we were thinking too. So, we–it’s a habit now–we always go to the junk sellers near the back and one of them had this ring. It was uh, really plain-looking, just a gray band, really. Might have been silver or something but it was pretty dirty so I couldn’t tell. But there was something about it that just seemed special. Sometimes I can just kinda just know, y'know?" This time, he didn’t seem interested in waiting for any kind of response. After taking a sharper breath than usual he went right back to his unnecessarily fast prattle. “Anyway! It was super cheap so we picked it up. From there we took it back to the inn and then it wasn’t hard to figure out what was so great about it. She, or um–my associate tried it on right away and she vanished!” Neck flung his arms into the air for dramatic effect, making a vaguely circular shape with his hands to emulate his ‘associate’ disappearing into thin air. Childish but Albedo lifted her eyebrows in feigned surprise, nodding along with his every word.
“Then just a few seconds later she came back, after taking it off. It was just like,” he paused for a moment. She probably didn’t know what ‘The One Ring’ was, or anything from home for that matter. Thankfully, the concept shouldn’t be too hard to explain. “She became a ghost, just for a second. Obviously we had to keep messing with it after that.”
He glanced at her, he had struggled to maintain eye-contact this entire time but he ensured he had hers right now, assurance that she was listening. Of course she was. Albedo nodded again–more pronounced this time–smiling ever so slightly wider at him. Neck laughed to himself and looked away again, still unable to gaze at her for long but certain he had her attention. “After some testing, we–um, discovered that this ring was an excellent spying device. You put it on and you’re completely gone to the world. Nothing can hurt you, nothing can even sense you, and you can move however you’d like. Float through walls, fly up and see for miles around, and the best part is–when you go underground, you can see all the things that are dug down. Like an upside-down city almost. And the further something went down, the taller and bigger it would be when you looked underground. That’s how we first found Nazarick. This place it’s like… a dark tower under the earth.”
“How interesting.” She finally replied. Somehow, he’d managed to explain the concept concisely despite his previous long-windedness. Her praise was toward the information he’d given, but still the human lit up.
“You really think so!?”
Neck all but fell upon the table. He had managed to tell her what she wanted, and in an interesting way! The fact that he was so coherent in front of her was surprising to even himself. No real man could truly stay sane when someone as perfect as Albedo was staring at them so attentively–but he had come as close as a human could get! Even if nothing else went his way during this interview, even if she got fed up with him and killed him right here and now, he could truly die a happy man.
“Of course! How could I not be interested?” Her beautiful voice brought him back to wondrous reality, “I can see why Lord Ainz was interested in you two. With such a powerful item in your possession, building amicable relations was most assuredly the best option.”
If you think I care for you, surely you will tell me everything you know. Lord Momonga was certainly brilliant! Her wings fluttered quietly at her side. After she learned everything her love wanted ,she could lock him up on the fifth floor or maybe send him to Kyhouhuku. There were so many ways he could be used!
“Oh, right. There is a reason we chose to come to Lord Ainz.” Albedo had to restrain herself. A human ‘choosing’ to serve her master. The mere idea that there was choice in the matter was nothing but insulting. She was right to wish him a life of pain. But, that was not the current focus, Albedo forced herself to stay tuned in to his rambling. “Like I said, Nazarick looked massive under the ground, we had to check it out. From there, it was… there was just so much here that we couldn’t help but adore. My associate was really enamored by Lord Demiurge, she spent all her time with the ring either hovering around him or looking for him. And me, well obviously I had to talk to you, but there was also that library.”
Albedo cutely tilted her head to the side. “Out of all the splendor of Nazarick, your biggest draw was the library?”
She’d kept her tone playful and teasing. Neck of course adored it, wrapping himself up in his spindly arms, stupidly laughing to himself before a look of concern washed over him.
“Well, not to insult the glory of Nazarick! Never that. No, no– Me and my associate loved everything, it was all so amazing. But just, for me personally, I’m practicing my enchanting, and I want to learn more about the world as a whole. So–when I saw that library, and just a small piece of Lord Ainz's power, I knew the knowledge there must be extraordinary. If it’s filled with things someone as brilliant as he deemed worthy to keep, I’d be a fool to not at least try to earn access.” He took a deep breath to steady himself before bowing once more. Touching his nose to the table between them. “We brought that ring here in hopes that Lord Ainz would allow us to stay. That it might be valuable enough and we could plead our cases. Cause,” his posture shifted. His voice changed as well, becoming more firm. As though he were slipping into a rehearsed script. “I vow this now, we can both be bring assets beyond that ring. I can enchant anything, even if it’s maxxed out I can add something new on top and I can promise they’re all positive, but weak. If I’m allowed to practice here, I could become a worthwhile servant, I’m sure of it. So…” Neck dared to look up, her face was still the very definition of serene, but the rational part of himself knew that meant little. Regardless, he had already come this far. “Would you please consider? I could work as a scribe too, I’m a fast writer.”
Albedo closed her eyes for less than a second, but a flurry of thoughts ran through her mind in that instant. His offer made sense for the most part, and she had been considering all the various ways she’d keep him here, there was no way she could send him back outside after revealing all he knew. But what on earth had he done to deserve to walk within the realm of the gods? Work as a scribe on the ninth floor? Not only was the task well handled, it simply was not possible for a human to replicate the librarians’ quality. And he wished to ‘help’ by pawing on their artefacts. Placing garbage enchantments on them and expecting to be rewarded with the information Lord Momonga spent years accumulating. This human laid insult after insult and now begged for a place within these sacred halls.
However–she calmed her storming emotions into something more tempered–she did need to keep him, on the ninth floor would be close enough to watch over him. If Albedo didn’t kill him, ensuring he stays near would likely be best for monitoring. She was still undecided but also well aware the conversation had to keep going. She owed him no immediate answer anyway.
“Well, becoming a citizen of Nazarick is certainly an important decision. I couldn’t very well agree to that without permission from Lord Ainz.“
Neck only nodded along, like he knew she’d say something along those lines the entire time. The concept of that was infuriating but still she persevered. How patient she’s been for this human–for her love.
“So, why don’t you tell me more about that ability you mentioned? If you have a talent for something never seen before, that would certainly add to your value.”
“Of course, Lady Albedo!” He looked down for a moment, irises darting indiscriminately as he sorted everything in his mind. His fingers wrapped around the air, an unseen weapon in his hands. Mentally, Neck walked through the process. It was simple, as mindless as tying a shoe at this point, but he had just been given another chance to impress and there was no way he wouldn’t do his utmost for her.
“I think the best way to explain it is like a bag filled with marbles. I can… when I have something to enchant I can put my hand into that bag, pull something out, and put it inside. I can’t choose the marble but, as I’ve gotten better at magic, I’ve felt the quality increase. So, the better I get, the stronger enchants I’ll be able to put on any item. No matter the material or if its already reached its data cap, like I said.”
He leaned back in his chair, tapping his fingers together. It was clear he had something else to say and Albedo was happy to wait for this. A method that can exceed an item’s data cap? This human was weak, as they all were; but if he spoke the truth, this would be investigated further. Lord Momonga has always worked to gather more power, to push the limits of the world. If she could present him with a skill like this. Granted, it would be a waste of her master’s time now, but after training him? The potential strength this could bring to Nazarick was immeasurable. Already, Albedo was calculating the best regiment she could use. How long did a human need to sleep? Eat? She would have to ask Demiurge about human care. Or perhaps she could simply learn his method and eliminate the need to keep this fleabag around. Though if this was the result of some ‘talent’, it wasn’t likely she would be so lucky.
“Oh!” Neck finally found the words he had been looking for. “I um… I obviously haven’t gotten a chance to enhance maxxed out items before, it’d be a bit of a waste to practice on something so valuable. That’s why we always went to the junk sellers, finding some garbage that I could get better with.”
“I see. Thank you for being so specific for me.” Neck let out a sharp gasp, bowing down again, though this time it seemed in more an effort to hide himself from her eyes than out of actual respect. Albedo waited ever so patiently for him to regain his composure. When he seemed ready enough, she continued.
“There is just one more thing I’d like to discuss. You mentioned being a fast writer, did you not?"
Neck nodded his head rapidly. "Y-yes, Lady Albedo! Very fast! I can write all day, every day!"
“Good. Of course I think your proposed abilities show a lot of promise, but I’m sure even you can understand that the position you’ve requested, enchanting items that are already fully enchanted, it would be high level work. So for now, a scribe shall suffice. Understood?”
He’d never stopped nodding, but now small fits of laughter took over him. Nothing had even been guaranteed yet. Presumptuous humans.
“Completely! I’ll dedicate everything to any task you give me!”
“All right,” Albedo leaned back in her chair slightly, subtly preparing to leave. “Obviously I still need to consult Lord Ainz on the matter, but know that I will be vouching for you personally. You working in the Library of Ashurbinipal on either task would truly be advantageous for Nazarick.”
The sound of her voice–her direct, personal promise–was the final trigger. Neck’s subdued giggles broke free, morphing into a series of sharp, uncontrollable convulsions that stole his breath. He clutched his chest, the laughter bordering on hysteria. Speaking became increasingly more difficult, yet still, he managed to answer. “That’s amazing! Thanks so much, Lady Albedo! I won’t let you down.”
Her wings flared out in annoyance but her expression remained welcoming. How unfortunate that she’d be seeing this face again. At least he would bring something worthwhile to her master.
“I’m sure you will,” she answered curtly, “Now remain here, a maid shall retrieve you shortly.”
She rose and swept out of the room, closing the door just enough to emphasize that he should not follow.
The moment she stepped into the hallway Albedo’s mind was already on her next task. It was likely her love already planned to keep the fool, but now she had to tell her master it would be best to keep him near, on the sacred 9th floor. Though, if Lord Momonga disagreed, there’d be nothing she could do. A real smile almost crept onto her face, but she froze. She saw him. Demiurge. Just nearing the end of the hall. And at his side, an absurdly bright flash of yellow.
It was the other human. She’d requested fifteen minutes with Demiurge in exchange for their ‘gift’. She was wearing an overly cheerful-colored cloak that went down to her thighs and seemingly nothing else, aside from her tattered shoes. She stayed near to Demiurge, far closer than he would normally allow.
She looked like a piece of refuse, but was evidently somewhat perceptive as she turned first, her eyes widening as she saw Albedo approaching. She made a small, chirping sound of acknowledgement. Demiurge turned in response, his usual polite smile in place, but a subtle tension ran through him. He took an oddly protective step, placing himself between the woman and Albedo, a move that did not go unnoticed.
“Good evening, Albedo,” Demiurge said smoothly. “Might I inquire as to the result of the interview with your human?”
Albedo’s eyes flicked from him to the small woman peering around his shoulder, then back. "I have handled it. His peculiar level of knowledge couldn’t be allowed to leave Nazarick.”
Demiurge’s smile widened, but his eyes still held a calculating glint. "How interesting. It seems we’ve reached a similar conclusion." He gestured to the woman cowering behind him. "This one has also proven insightful. I've decided to keep her."
Albedo’s eye twitched. "Oh? You’ve decided?" she said, her voice’s sweetness developed a subtle edge. "I wasn't aware you were the one to make such a choice. Do you even intend to inform our master?"
Demiurge chuckled but there was a slight furrow to his brow. He never could fully hide when he was wounded, not from her anyway.
“My decisions are made with foresight, Albedo. I am going to Lord Ainz to present him with an asset. Unlike some, I do not waste our lord's time and as such surveyed the entire situation to bring him something usable,” his voice never lost its polished tone but there was clear over-emphasis in his words. How predictably sensitive.
"Ah, that is the difference between us, isn't it? As the guardian closest to our master, I know his will and can enact his wishes without pandering about. You, on the other hand, seem to be collecting toys. Tell me, is this little stray actually capable of anything other than hiding behind your leg, or is she simply a sentimental purchase?"
He couldn’t help himself from looking back at the cowering human. Her bright garment made her stand out painfully well against the dark stones. The moment their gazes locked, she smiled. As if there were some comfort in his eyes. And Demiurge’s face seemed to soften as well. This game had been fun but that sight had Albedo barely able to suppress a wave of nausea.
“She is already valuable in her knowledge, and I shall train her myself to become my assistant. I believe working under me will most effectively turn her into a servant of Nazarick. I assure you, sentimentality is a weakness that I would never allow to impede my work for Lord Ainz.”
That would remain to be seen, but the idea of continuing this conversation had quickly gone sour. Instead she lightly shook her head, letting out a dignified ‘hmph’ before moving past the unsightly pair. However, she could still grace him with parting words.
“Do try not to get attached. After all, when Lord Ainz decides he doesn't need to entertain every one of these creatures, there will be no room for such feelings."
With that, Albedo slid past him and his ridiculous, clingy, human. She’d have to see them both again soon. As well as… the fool who’d ‘interviewed’ her.
Albedo finally let her mask of perfection fall away. Two disgusting rats asking to live within perfection. The worst part was her Lord Momonga’s benevolence; if his past actions were any indication, their acceptance was all but guaranteed. However, she would persevere, as she always did.
She looked to her left hand and found full serenity in the golden band on her ring finger. Albedo shifted her arm, watching the massive red stone catch the flickering lights around her. A constant reminder of how her love had already acknowledged her. As long as this was the truth, no price would be too high.
With a smile, she teleported away.
