Summary
Meris Ravencross
Her whole world shattered at the age of sixteen when red—veined creatures took her mother’s life and left with nothing but a hollow space in Meris’ heart. Grief became a constant feeling but it now came with the weight of her father’s cruel reputation, reputation of a man feared for his ruthlessness and efficiency which he expected from his children. If scars were art he was an artist.
Where her brother learned to meet those expectations, Meris learned to endure them—she learned to protect her sister from some of them.
Because in that household there was no place for weaknesses, there was only discipline and restraint. But where her father prized obedience, Meris learned to question. Where he demanded legacy, she searched for meaning.
Basgiath War College is her way of proving it—she isn’t there to reject her name but to redefine it. To prove, not only to herself that strength doesn’t have to look like cruelty. But those lessons don’t vanish so easily, they are crawled under her skin, etched into the instinct and habit.
Meris Ravencross doesn’t need to escape her name, she just wants to be seen as more than it, as her own person, forged by choice rather than expectation.
