Jealous Reaper

Summary:

You weren’t watching where you were going as you bumped into someone. You were about to murmur an apology before recognizing the stranger as a colleague from work. You both seemed surprised but it rinsed off as the two of you decided to chat for a bit. You asked about work and they asked how you were doing on your off-days. It was going smoothly until you noticed a little red-eye raven peaking out from the corner of a tree nearby, staring at you closely. It didn’t take long for you to connect the dots.
That was Casper.
...
Sunshine being a menace and Casper falling right into it.

Notes:

Work Text:

You very much knew what you were doing.

For a Grim Reaper that was trying to get your soul, Casper can be very protective of what was his. You learned about that when it came to Azrael and eventually, yourself. Which gave you, Sunshine as Casper has nicknamed, to do a little bit of your magic.

Which was being a menace.

The sunflowers that Casper gave you remained carefully tucked beside your bedside. You couldn’t help but feel your heart flutter every time you look at it. It was… something you never thought would happen in your life. To be given flowers by a Grim Reaper was out of the question until now. Minus the fact that Casper admitted to have stolen these from an old lady. Poor old woman. There was no way the elder would’ve caught Casper, even if she tried.

You stretched your limbs and had the courage to get out of bed. It was almost the afternoon and spending it all in bed, while tempting, was not something you planned to do. You prepared to take a small jog in the park nearby and you plan to do it before you feel the weight of procrastination hover over you.

You quickly got dressed, throwing caution to the wind with fashion. A simple t-shirt and pants. Then you gave your pet a quick smooch on the head before donning your shoes and heading out the door.

The hallway was empty, nobody in sight except the drifting silence. You turned your head, looking at the door that was your next door neighbour. You almost wanted to knock on the door, but decided against you. You only hope that the duo could work things out, communicate. That’s all you could wish for, minus your habits of eavesdropping too much like it was second nature.

You used the stairs as the elevator hadn't been repaired before reaching the bottom. You walked out and let out a sigh, taking in the fresh air that filled your nostrils. You headed north, listening to the footsteps of strangers and your own hitting the pavement. The bustling streets of the city of Avenridge were busy as ever. There was no stopping in big cities. High rent and high inflation costs.

The park was rather small but it was cute. A small lake and plenty of trees, a gravel path and benches for locals to sit. There seemed to be some people, all doing their own thing. One was having a picnic and another was just sitting on a bench, reading a book.

You took a stroll, deciding against jogging through the lovely park and enjoying your time. The sun was out and there was a gentle breeze that grazed your cheek. It was good.

It seemed he had finished reaping other souls before coming to lurk around.

You couldn’t help but internally grin at the instant thought that popped into your head. You wanted to mess with Casper because you fucking can. It was too much fun.

So, you did your usual thing. Grin from ear-to-ear with your colleague, listen to their rambles about how their boss is addicted to coffee, how work has been going through your absence, and so on. You laughed, smiled, and patted your co-worker on the shoulder. All bright and sunny. In the corner of your eye? The raven’s feathers are ruffled and almost close to squawking. Honestly, you’d admit, you never thought you’d see Grimmy use his glamour on you and not just everyone else while you were around. But, you had to confess…

…Casper looked adorable as a raven.

You put your antics to a stop, not wanting Casper to do anything drastic as you waved your colleague goodbye before heading back to your apartment. Each step had a slight beat as you hopped your way back.

When you made your way back to your apartment and opened your laptop, you were already connected to a call. There, you saw Casper in all his glory, face seemingly contorted in irritation, that beautiful white hair draped over his shoulders and framing his gorgeous face. The tapping from his fingers.

Yeah, he’s jealous and you couldn’t help it as you grinned.

“Was someone jealous?” You teased your Grimmy.

Who replied flatly, “Sunshine.”

Yes, Casper is jealous. It was all over his face and body language. The rigidness in his posture and the downturn of his lips, with the small fang peaking out. Those crimson eyes narrowed into aggravated slits that warned it could bite and not just bark. Hell, Casper is not even attempting to mask it.

You chuckled as you made fun of him, playfully. While Casper retorted back with his own usual comments and the flusterness when you teased him exactly at the right angles. Everything just went right into the palm of your hands.

You undoubtedly had to persuade Casper not to attempt to do something against your colleague though. Not for his sake but mostly for your own. You weren’t sure how you were gonna feel upon hearing your colleague having an accident or something due to you wanting to mess with Grimmy.

So, the next morning when you looked through your emails for a quick second and got word that said colleague was off work due to a minor incident, you just had to ring up Casper to make sure the Reaper had nothing to do with it. Just in case.

Because you know just how petty Casper can be whenever he wants to do so, even if it was cute.

Notes:

I desire to hug Azrael.
