Chapter 1: POMNI
I always thought there was nothing but emptiness in this world. Well, I guess no one had told me there could be something else. Ever since I arrived in the Circus, all I wanted to do was leave. I still want that. But things are a bit different now. They always have been ever since…
“POMNI! POMNI! WAKE UP! IT’S THANKSGIVING!” Caine was gone before Pomni could respond.
“Thanksgiving? Why?!” Pomni shouted to nobody in particular. She had never liked Thanksgiving. Before the circus, she usually spent the holiday alone in her apartment, eating slices of microwaved frozen turkey. If she was lucky, she would have the time to go and buy herself some instant mashed potatoes. What was the point of cooking some big homemade meal when the only person eating it was you?
Thanksgiving wasn’t exactly a celebratory time for her. The idea of being thankful for things she never once dreamed of having sickened her. The only thing she wanted at the moment was to make it through the day without being brutally mutilated one way or another. Caine’s ideas of “fun” adventures ranged from working at a fast food place to being forced to escape Hell. Literally.
Perhaps it would be better if she was gruesomely disfigured… perhaps she would be free from this reincarnation of the dev-
“POMNI!! GET UP!! I CALLED YOU UP 10 MINUTES AGO!” Caine yelled angrily from the hallway.
“Give me a {BOINK}-ING MINUTE!” Pomni shouted back, rolling her eyes hard at the swear filter. Her patience was sure wearing thin…
