Chapter Text
It was another dark, stormy night on top of mount Vitriol, and Smiling valley’s resident evil queen was hard at work, plotting her next big scheme.
She tolerated Babs and Poe, and she of course adored her sweet little Evelyn, but clearly they were no help in achieving her goal, though they’d all tried their hardest.
So now, she was going to create a NEW minion.
One without her own DNA…
But the very beings she hoped to conquer in the first place.
So now, she was about to enlist the help of her young daughter to achieve this goal.
“Evelyn, dear…”
She calls. “Could you come here for a moment?”
Eve, who was about 10, walked up beside her, smiling.
“Hi Mama.”
Ulrike smiles, gently petting her head.
“Hello dear.”
She says. “I need you to do something for me.”
Evelyn tilts her head.
“What is it?”
Ulrike kneels down to look her in the eye.
“I need you to spend time with those deplorable smiling critters… and collect something from each of them.”
Eve gets scared, whimpering a bit.
“I-I can’t steal their pendants, Mama!”
She says, “they’ll hate me!”
Ulrike gently hugs her.
“Calm down, sweetie.”
She says. “It's something different this time.”
She then shows her a checklist she’d made of little doodles of the critters, since she never bothered to learn their actual names.
“Instead of their pendants, I need you to bring me back one or two strands of each of their putrid colored fur, or feathers, or whatever.”
Eve calms down.
“O-okay…” she says. “I think I can do that.”
Ulrike smiles.
“Good girl,” she says. “And don’t worry, it doesn’t need to be a full strand, I just need a bit of each of their DNA.”
Eve nods, taking the checklist.
“Okay Mama.”
Ulrike gently strokes her head.
“Good girl.”
She gets up.
“And don’t feel rushed, take all the time you need, okay?”
She says. “Don’t stress yourself.”
Eve nods.
“I’ll do my best.”
~cloudy transition into a montage~
Eve then spends the rest of the day spending one on one time with the critter families.
She hangs out with Lune and his parents, collecting a strand of orange fur from Dogday and a whisker from Catnap.
She plays with Berry and her parents, collecting a red strand from Bobby and a green one from Hoppy.
She draws with Paulie and his parents, collecting a yellow feather from Kickin and a teal strand of hair from Crafty.
And finally, she reads with little Bella and her dad, collecting a blue strand of hair from Bubba’s tail and a pink whisker from Picky, who was there to deliver Bubba some lettuce from her garden.
Once Eve finally had all the components she needed, she returned to her mother, who was pleased with her good work.
“You’ve done well, little princess.”
She says, gently petting her hair.
Eve smiles proudly.
“Thank you Mama!”
Ulrike nods in approval, then starts off towards her laboratory.
“Finally… It's time for my new creation to rise.”
She walks down the hall, Eve following closely behind her.
“Can I watch?”
She asks.
Ulrike thinks for a moment.
“Only if you don’t touch anything, and you keep a safe distance from the cauldron.”
She says. “I don’t want you to get hurt.”
Eve nods.
“Okay mama.”
When they arrive at the laboratory, Ulrike sets the samples on the table, then goes to prepare the base for the life elixir.
Eve watches her.
“So what will the monster do?”
Ulrike pours the amrita into the cauldron, mixing it with a few drops of ambrosia.
“Well dear… it will be our minion.” She says. “The creation will do whatever we say, and thus be the perfect henchthem.”
She thinly slices an apple into the cauldron, and once she pours the water in, the white mixture in the cauldron starts to bubble.
Ulrike grins.
“Perfect…”
Eve walks closer. “What’s it doing?”
Ulrike gently pushes her back.
“Stand BACK, Evelyn.” She says. “I’d hate for you to lose an eyebrow or two.”
Eve rolls her eyes, backing up. “Okayyy.”
Next, Ulrike picks up the DNA components that Eve had collected.
She smells the blue hair.
“Lemongrass…”
She says as she drops it into the cauldron.
Then she smells the red strand of fur.
“Red roses, like the ones you’d get for a princess…”
She says before dropping it in.
She follows with the teal strand and yellow feather, dropping them in at the same time.
“Jasmine and ylang-ylang, a natural combination.”
She examines the orange strand for a bit.
“Eugh, Vanilla…”
She says, not even smelling it as she dropped it in. “The most boring scent.”
She then smells the pink whisker.
“Citrus…?”
She says, confused. “Why not apple pie? Or just apples…?”
She shrugs, dropping it in. “Oh well…”
She then sniffs the green strand.
“Ah, peppermint.”
She says, dropping it in with a smile. “Brings back memories of cold December nights…”
Finally, she smells the purple whisker.
“Hmm… lavender…”
She smells again. “With just a hint of red poppy.”
She says, before dropping it into the cauldron, making the mixture turn rainbow colors.
Getting her large wooden spoon, she levitates it and uses it to mix the cauldron, until it is swirled like a rainbow lollipop.
“Finally, it’s ready…”
She glances at Eve.
“Stand back just a bit more dear.”
Eve sighs, going to stand against the wall.
Ulrike then goes back to the cauldron, picking up her spell book and opening it to the ‘animation’ spell.
Her hands start to glow as she recites the incantation.
“With blood in the veins and eyes shining bright,
What once was nothing, now shall walk in the light.
What was malleable as moss on a hollow tree,
shall breathe and think, and shall soon be free.
Bubble bubble, oh ooze filled with strife…
I shall now manifest you a new LIFE!”
She shoots green lightning into the cauldron, the spell complete.
In a giant explosion of rainbow smoke, a new life form was created.
Ulrike stares evilly yet proudly at her creation, as they slowly stand up out of the cauldron.
They had the head of Craftycorn, the body of Catnap, one ear from Hoppy and Catnap each, one arm from Bobby and Kickin each, one leg from Bubba and Picky each, and last but not least the tail of Dogday.
They even came with their own pendant, which was a yellow smiley face.
Then, they opened their eyes.
“I’m ALIVE….”
They said.
Their voice sounded sunny, like Dogday’s, but had the raspiness of Kickin, and the daintiness of Crafty.
They look down at themselves.
“And I'm cute.”
They say with a pleased smile, examining their new body.
Ulrike smiles deviously, slowly clapping.
“Perfect…”
The creature bows to her.
“Oh great and generous creator… how may I assist you?”
Ulrike smiles.
“My creation… you will be my-”
“Big brother!”
Evelyn suddenly says, going to hug the abomination around the waist.
The thing looks confused, just staring down at her.
“Evie, no.”
Ulrike says, gently removing her. “This creature is not your sibling.”
Eve looks sad. “Aww…”
Ulrike clears her throat, looking back at the creature.
“As I was saying, you will be my fetcher.”
She says.
“Since I have given you your life, you will repay me by getting me whatever I ask for.”
The creature smiles.
“Thank you, Mistress.”
They say.
“So, what will you call me?”
Ulrike places a hand on their shoulder.
“Your name is the amalgacritter.”
Ulrike says. “But for short, you’ll be called…”
She tries to think of a fitting nickname.
“Smiley!”
Eve chirps in, giggling.
The amalgacritter smiles.
“Smiley… I like that.”
Ulrike groans, facepalming.
“Alright, whatever.”
She says. “You’re ‘Smiley’ now.”
She clears her throat.
“Okay, ‘Smiley’… your mission is to find these bright, colorful stains on the beautiful dark fabric of my life…”
She pulls out a crumpled picture of the critters, showing it to Smiley.
“And bring me back their pendants.”
Smiley nods, taking the picture and stepping out of the cauldron.
“Of course, my creator.”
They say.
And with that, Smiley was off on their quest, walking out the front door of the castle.
Ulrike had faith in her creation.
Hopefully this one would actually work.
“Mama?”
Eve asks, tugging on her mother’s dress. “Smiley won’t hurt anyone… will they?”
Ulrike gently pets her daughter’s hair.
“As long as the stains don’t get in their way.”
