Erica has known Tina for years. They’ve been best friends for as long as Erica can remember. They have sleepovers almost every week, and is always hanging out with each other. Erica knows Tina well, and she’ll definitely know if something’s up with her, and lately, something’s been up.
It started with Josh. Gosh, Erica hated Josh so much. She couldn’t even explain how much she hated him. Tina wasn’t the type to be boy crazy, so when Josh randomly entered into the picture, she absolutely hated it.
She hated every second of them dating. She hated Josh. She hated how much of Tina’s time he took up. And when they started dating, it was the talk of the school. Everyone knew about them dating. Everyone talked about it. Erica literally couldn’t escape it.
She couldn’t explain why she hated him. Jealously? Protectiveness? She didn’t know, and she didn’t care. She just wanted him out of the picture.
When she hit him with the ball it was an accident. Maybe not fully an accident, but partially an accident. Tina had exploded on Erica, and they fell out for a while, before Erica eventually sucked it up and apologized. They forgave each other quick, and Tina had confessed that she didn’t like Josh and they broke up shortly after the incident, and Erica had never felt so relieved in her life.
Ever since then things changed.
The touchiness started off slow. Almost unnoticeable. But Erica noticed everything. Especially when it came to Tina.
Just a couple of compliments. Tina always gave her compliments, and she would give her compliments back. It wasn’t anything unusual for them to do, but Erica noticed it was happening more and more. But she couldn’t lie, she enjoyed it.
They were hanging out in Erica’s room after school. They were sprawled out on the floor, Erica finishing up some homework when Tina randomly moved some hair out of Erica’s face.
“You look really pretty” She blurted out. Erica glanced up at her. “The light hits your eyes just right. It’s so pretty”
“Uh..thanks.” She tried to laughed it off, but she couldn’t. Even hours later, when Tina was leaving, she couldn’t stop thinking about it. It was weird. This has never happened before with Tina. Why did this one stick?
More things was happening. Some weeks later, Tina had started proposing they walk back home together more often, but during these walks, Tina would slip her pinky in Erica’s.
It happened a couple of times. Erica never mentioned anything about it. Tina stopped with her pinky, and eventually started just completely holding Erica’s hand fully. Erica let it happen.
Things kept piling up, and it was driving Erica mad. What really did it was the hugs. Tina would hug her a lot more than usual. They’ve always been huggers, but only quick squeezes when saying hello or goodbye, but now Tina would hold on longer. She’d bury her face in Erica’s neck, and squeeze her tight around her waist, especially when nobody was around.
When nobody was around she’d hug her for even longer, sometimes rocking them from side to side. She could feel Tina’s heartbeat when they hugged, and everytime she had to let go she would pull away a bit, running her hands down Erica’s sides before letting go. It always did something to Erica. It was driving her absolutely crazy. She had no choice but to bring it up.
“You’re being extra..like..cuddley lately. What’s up with that?” Erica said one evening in Tina’s room. They were cuddling again. They supposed to be studying, but they abandoned that a while ago, and ended up watching a movie instead.
Tina was laid on her back. She had dragged Erica to lay with her, placing Erica’s head on her chest, and now Erica was practically laying on top of her.
Tina was gently stroking Erica’s face, watching the movie. Erica couldn’t focus at all.
“Am I?” Tina glanced down at Erica. Erica hummed in agreement.
“Is it bothering you?” She stopped stroking her face, pulling her hand away.
“No.” Erica said quickly. Too quickly. “No. It’s just.. different.” She grabbed Tina’s wrist, placing her hand back on her face. Tina smiled.
“Well..maybe I’ve just missed you. You know.. I still feel bad for the whole Josh thing. Maybe I’m just making it up to you.” Tina muttered.
Erica hummed.
“You’re so pretty Erica” Tina mumbles, her thumb caressing Erica’s face gently. She dosent know what to say. She can feel her face getting hot.
“Thanks..” she mumbles.
“No like..You don’t understand. You’re so pretty.” She repeats, softer this time, her thumb caressing extremely close to her lips.
Erica moves. She swings a leg over Tina’s hips, straddling her. Tina’s eyes widen, her hands almost immediately going to Erica’s waist, gripping her tightly.
She leans down, one hand bracing her and the other cupping Tina’s jaw, tilting Tina’s head up. Tina’s eyes were wide and nervous. She was breathing hard, her eyes flicking from Erica’s lips up to her eyes, her grip on Erica tightening. Erica pauses before she closes the distance.
The kiss was soft at first, just pressing their lips together. Tina makes a noise before she immediately starts kissing back, her hands sliding up Erica’s back, pulling her even closer.
Their bodies were flush against each other. Tina tilted her head, deepening the kiss. Tina tasted like cherry. The Cherry chapstick she always used. Their tongues slid against each others gently. Erica groaned softly.
When Tina reluctantly pulled away for air, they stared at each other before Tina leaned in again, hungry for more. The kiss turned messy fast. Erica bit Tina’s bottom lip, eliciting a groan out of Tina. Erica swallowed it, sliding her tongue into Tina’s mouth.
Tina’s hips shifted beneath Erica, a small, almost unnoticeable roll that made Erica groan slightly.
The kiss was desperate and messy. Months of tension between them made it even better. When they finally pulled away, they both were out of breath.
