You were probably the most introverted animatronic among the others. You barely interacted with your fellow animatronics outside of working hours, if ever. The other Glamrocks noticed it too, and one day after a good performance asked if you'd want to join them to meet up with the others.
"Y/N!" You heard Freddy call. "Roxy, Monty, Chica and I were planning to visit the other animatronics tonight after closing. Would you like to join us?"
At first you planned to reject his idea. But you saw Roxy, Chica, and Monty not too far behind. Seeing them, you couldn't bring yourself to reject. "Um...sure. Okay." you replied.
Freddy smiled at your response. "Glad to see that you're finally coming out of your shell a bit, Y/N."
Later on that night, you exited your roller rink. You looked up to see the neon sign above the doors, "Y/N'S ROLLER RINK" lit up in bright greens, blues, and pinks. You sigh. You sure do wish you chose to stay in tonight. But whatever---you already said that you'd meet everyone else. You head over to Roxy's Raceway where the others said to meet, and sure enough, you saw Freddy, Monty, Chica, and Roxy outside. Chica waved you over, looking eagar to see you outside of shows for the first time in ages.
"There you are, Y/N! We've been waiting for you!"
You waved back, using your built-in skates to calmly roll over there at a steady pace and stopping yourself in front of the four. "Sorry for the wait, I was finishing some stuff up at the rink."
The others didn't seem to care about you being a bit late, thoush Roxy did look a little tired of waiting. "Well, that doesn't matter! Let's just get on with this already."
You nod. "Sounds like a plan."
Throughout the night, the other Glamrocks led you across the Pizzaplex, where you met the S.T.A.F.F. Bots and DJ Music Man. You kept glancing at clocks around the building in different rooms though, waiting for the clock to hit 6AM. It never did, though. It seemed like time was stuck at 1AM for ages, but only about 40 minutes had passed. You were regreting accepting this offer, as you weren't keen on hanging out. Until something caught your eye---a tall set of brown doors you hadn't ever been inside. You pointed at it and asked about it, letting curiousity take over.
"What's in there?" You asked.
Monty replied, looking to where you pointed to. "That's the daycare. It's where Sundrop and Moondrop hang around."
Ah. So that was it. You knew of it since the PizzaPlex map was automatically programed into your system, but you'd never seen inside. You were aware that Sundrop, one of the Daycare Attendants, was quite loud at times. You didn't really like loud noises too much, as your vision meant to replicate a bat's would always be picking up on loud sound waves that make it hard to see past. Sure, you could turn it off, but it always takes a little while to go through your system settings and turn it off. Just in case you were about to head in, you'd already pulled out the small device that a staff member gave you specifically to find your settings and turn off echolocation.
"Speaking of which, why don't we go in to see our two friends? Then Y/N will be able to meet them!" Freddy suggested, just as you predicted.
You pressed to button on the watch-like device to turn off echolocation and put it back in your vest pocket, already prepared. "Sounds good to me."
"Alright!" Roxy exclaimed! "I already know I'll be first, but race you guys in!" And with that, she bolted in with Chica and Monty going after her.
"Not fair, Roxy! How come you get a head start?!" Chica called out to her friend while running in.
You and Freddy watched the three dash past you two, letting out a small chuckle at their competitiveness. Any other day you'd be terrified of how invested they were with beating each other, but tonight you had grown more used to it and found it kinda sweet.
"Let's head in, Y/N. You still need to see Superstar Daycare!" Freddy said while walking in, looking over his shoulder at you one last time before entering the lit up room beyoynd the doors. You nodded, and popped out your tiny wheels. Casually skating in, you didn't even see that you bumped into someone. Someone new.
In the daycare, you already bumped into someone and you both fell to the padded ground before even getting 5 feet into the place. Flickering your eyes open, you could see an unfamiliar animatronic with a whole moon theme to them. The animatronic looked slightly annoyed that you caused him to fall over, but quickly got up after a moment and brushed himself off. The animatronic saw you too, and extended out a hand to you somewhat irritated. Since you hadn't been with others like this in ages, you were confused what they were doing for a moment, but then remembered how you'd do the same action to help up kids who fell down in the rink on skates. You assumed that they were doing, and accepted the helping hand. You weren't sure how to respond for a moment, before you thought it'd be best to just apologize.
"Uh---sorry 'bout that. I didn't see you there..."
"Obviously." The moon-themed animatronic replied. Yikes. You really made a bad first impression.
You fiddled your fingers around awkwardly for a moment, before just introducing yourself while feeling a bit guilty for knocking him over. "Well...my name is Y/N! And you are?"
They inspected you for a moment, as they'd probably heard your name but never seen you before like DJ Music Man. "...Moondrop. My name is Moondrop." Ah---so THIS was Moondrop!
"Well, it's great to meet you, then!" You responded, trying to not make him hate you forever with 3 minutes of seeing you. Which was weird. With other animatronics you rarely cared about the impression you made on them, but now it was worrying you a lot. Probably because you just met him, right?
An awkward silence continued, before you just excused yourself to avoid the situation. "...I'll just go somewhere else now." Moondrop nodded, and you walked over to the ballpit you saw the others run to. You peered over it out of curiousity, before being grabbed in by a familiar set of claws.
"HA---GOT YOU!" Roxy yelled out, much to your own shock. Chica popped up next to you, which only made you wonder how deep this pit was. "Hey, Y/N! What took you so long?" She asked.
"Oh---I just bumbped into Moondrop on the way here." You stated. Chica giggled. "So you've finally met Moony, I see!" Moony. That was a cute nickname for an intimidating animatronic, you thought.
Your thoughts were interupted once again with Roxy, but just speaking instead of dragging you into the ballpit. "So, you you see Sun, too? Or just Moon? "Just Moondrop." You replied. "Well, let's change that!" Chica said while pulling herself, you, and Roxy out. Chica lead you two over near the arts and carfts area, where she called out Subdrop.
"Hey, Sun!" She called. "We've got someone we want you to meet!" With her words you saw a new animatronic that looked just like Moondrop but with a theme of the Sun rather than the Moon.
"A new someone? How great!" He exclaimed. Seeing you, the animatronic bent down a bit to be at your level. "You must be Y/N, right? We've been waiting to finally see you! 'We' being Moony and I, but he's had some more suspicions! I would be Sunnydrop, but you can call me whatever you'd like!" Wow. That was a lot. But it did feel a bit reassured knowing that Moondrop was still actually curious of you, even if he didn't say it.
"Ah---I see." You replied. You weren't quite sure on what to say, as it seemed that Sundrop already knew a lot about you, so you just stood there awkwardly. "Well, it's good to meet you, I guess?"
"Likewise!" They said with a bit too much enthusiasum. "It's not often that we meet animatronics we haven't already seen, so this is fantastic!" You nodded along, feeling a bit too nervous to say something else. Until, all four of you heard the loud sound of someone, most likely Monty, crashing into something and flying out everywhere in all directions. "Oh dear, what happened?!" Sundrop yelled out while taking a step towards where the crash came from. From that same direction came out Freddy and Monty, which confirmed your suspicion of who caused that crash from Monty's slight limp as he walked beside Freddy.
"I'm fine, there's just a huge mess over there..." Monty said to Sundrop while holding his side which looked a bit dented from the impact. You wondered what even happened, but figured that it might come off as a bit rude. Sundrop seemed a bit more calm that Monty was okay, but was still very stressed over the mess.
"Well, that still leaves a huge mess...that must be cleaned up soon!" Sundrop, while worrying about that, seemed to not be paying as much attention to you and the others.
"Um---Sundrop?" You said while aproaching them. "You mentioned a big mess, do you need help cleaning it?"
Sundrop shifted their attention to you, a bit suprised by your offer to help so quicky. "Really? That would be great!"
You nodded with a small smile. "No promblem."
You and Sundrop waved goodbye to the others, and you both went to the crash site to find a huge mess, as described. Based on where it was across from the ballpit, you guessed that Monty had gainted too much speed on the slide which ended up making him go beyond the ballpit and into the arts and crafts area across from it. With so many spilled over crayon buckets and marks, you knew that this would take a while. You and Sundrop both began the long process, going for about 7 minutes until conversation started.
"So," the Sun animatronic started, "how come we never see you around like everyone else?" Great. You were expecting that.
"Well, uh, I just don't like being out and with others too much."
"Really?" Sundrop asked while pausing his work to look up at you. "Why not?" Of course you'd expect that from someone like them.
A bit unsure of how to respond, you came up with whatever you could. "Well, it can just get pretty overwhelming and tiring to talk to everyone everyday for me. Plus, it can be kinda scary when you have no idea what someone else might say to you, y'know?" You explained as easily as you could, but you knew that the true answer was far more complicated.
A concerned look appeared on Sundrop's face as he replied, "Oh...sorry I asked, then."
You shook your head and brushed it off. "It's fine, really. Don't worry about it."
Sundrop nodded to what you said, though you still saw that worried look in his eyes. Throughout the cleaning proccess, you caught them looking over to you a few times with that same expression. By the time you two finished fixing everything, the former impact spot now looked spotless. You checked your system device from your pocket, to see that the time was already almost 3:00. In a hurry, you said that you should be leaving now. Sundrop nodded, seeming very satisfied with your help.
"Okay, Y/N!" They said. "Feel free to come back anytime! It was a delight to have you around."
You nodded, though you didn't really plan to go out and meet up with other a lot anytime soon. "Alright. See you soon, Sundrop!" You replied while heading out, then adding, "And tell Moondrop I said goodbye, too." Sundrop gave a small nod, planning to go through with your request. You closed the tall doors behind you, planning to go back to your room.
The next day went by as usual---skating around and helping the little ones, and racing with the competitive older kids. This is how your day usually went, and you were content with it. You did notice you'd been getter fewer guests over the past few weeks, but chose to not let it bother you. That night, you wandered around again, this time solo. Skating around the PizzaPlex, you accidentally overheard a conversation from those big, brown doors from yesterday. You let your curiousity take over, and listened in just a little bit to hear a conversation between the two animatronic daycare attendants.
The first voice you recognized was Moondrop, saying, "...So why are we having to do this, again?"
The next voice was Sundrop, obviously. "Don't be silly, Moony! It's for Y/N! I'm SURE they'll love this!"
With a sigh, you heard Moondrop reply. "Whatever you say, Sun..."
"Aw, don't be like that!" Sundrop continued. "This'll be perfect, and you're always glad to help with stuff like this!"
"I guess..." the Moon animatronic replied.
Hearing that brought a small smile to your face. Were they really making something for you? Well, in that case...why not make them something, too? Just to show how great spending time in the Daycare was yesterday.
On your way back to your room, you stopped by a supply closet to grab some string and cotton. The rest of what you needed was already in your room.
Back in Rockstar Row, you carefully entered your room so that the others couldn't hear. You had plently of time left in the night, so you got to work right now, pulling out a sewing needle and some felt. Because little did anyone know, you adored making little felt plushies and using them to decorate your shelves. You were sure that those two would like these.
That next night past closing, you slipped out of your room once again, avoiding security. You stopped again in front of those tall doors. You took in a small breath, then entered the room---careful to not hit Moondrop this time. Looking around, you saw no one, until---
"Hello, friend!" You heard a familiar voice behind you, and immidietly turned around to see Sundrop jumping down to you from atop one of the huge play structures. "It's great to see you!" They continued. Moondrop came out to see what was happening, and didn't look nearly as annoyed as a few days ago. "Oh---also, Moony and I made something for you!" Sun added.
"Actually, I also made some things for the both of you, too." You calmy replied. Sundrop looked excited to hear about it, while Moondrop did perk up a bit at your words. He came over alongside Sundrop, most likely because they were the one holding your gift. "Both reveal on 3?" You offered, and Moondrop nodded to the plan.
1...2...3!
On that 3rd number, you both got out pretty similar gifts for each other. You had made matching felt plushies of the Sun and Moon, while the two in front of you had made a similar style of plush that was of a cute, purple bat that looked just like you. Upon seeing it, you immidetly loved it. And not just because Sundrop and Moondrop made it for you. You smiled at the small thing, and without thinking, ran into a hug with the two of them. "Thank you both so much!" You said through your excitement.
Sundrop was the first to return the hug, also quite satisfied with the gift. "No problem! This gift is also great, Sunshine!" You found yourself smiling a bit at the nickname, but summed it up to just your joy that someone made something for you.
Moondrop was pretty suprised for a moment, just standing there in shock, but eventually did hug you back. "...Your welcome."
After a moment, you realized what you did, and awkwardly pulled yourself away. "Uh...sorry. I do really like this, though." You said while eyeing the stuffed bat.
Moondrop shook their head. "Don't worry about it."
Despite literally being told that your impulsive action was fine, you couldn't help but feel embarrassed about it. Of course, one of the first times you meet these two, and you already screw it up? Jeez, what an idiot you could be at times. "Right..." you mumnled.
Sundrop noticed your reaction, and worryingly remembered your interaction the other day. He nudged Moondrop and leaned in to whisper something, and the expression that the moon-themed animatronic wore shifted slightly. "I see..." he said mostly to himself. They then shifted their attention back to you, feeling a bit sorry for being so blunt. "It's fine, really. We're pretty used to stuff like that from little kids, so it's okay. Just trust me, alright?"
You paused for a moment, before slightly nodding. You liked hearing the words "trust me."
Sundrop thought it'd be best to ease things over a bit, and changed the topic. "So, Y/N, was there anything else you needed here? Not that we don't mind a random visit, I'm merely just a bit curious."
"Oh, right---" you recalled. You also wanted to just know a bit more about the daycare here in the Pizzaplex. "I was wondering, is it alright if I maybe ask you two some questions about this place? I've barely been here, so I'm pretty new to the whole thing..."
Sundrop was more than happpy to give you more info of the fun, colorful place he and Moondrop called home, and surely did. For the next hour or so, the two both entertained your child-like wonder, with you being curious of every new thing you saw and the others walking with you around Superstar Daycare. That night, you found yourself actually smiling---not just the pretend ones for shows. From the plush to just goofing around, you adored your time in here with you new friends, Sun and Moon. Of course though, all good things must come to an end, so you waved goodbye to the two before opening and headed back to your own room. You left feeling happy and satisfied with how things were going for you.
The next few days had been pretty busy for you, with back-to-back childrens' birthday parties and performances with the other Glamrocks. Not that foot traffic at your rink, though. It saddened you that you weren't able to go see Sun and Moon with how much you were needing to charge your battery after hours so often from how you'd been working so much.
The next day was the first of July, one of the rare days where the PizzaPlex was completely closed to visitors. Every 3 months, the PizzaPlex would close just for the day to have all animatronics go to Parts and Service to get checked up on. Not that there was anything wrong most of the time, just to ensure that all safety procedures were up to date and that the animatronic shells and endoskeletons were still in good shape.
As you headed down to Parts and Service, you spotted two familiar animatronics already exiting---Sun and Moon. The two seemed to notice you, too, as you went down the steep steps. Sun went over to you, followed by Moon close behind. "Y/N! It's great to see you again!" Sun called. You waved as you got to the same level as them, wearing the same smile on your face as a few days ago.
"The feeling is mutual." You replied.
Sun wore a similar visible expression, though you could tell that Moon was also glad to see you under the surface. It was kind of cute, actually, to see him pretend he wasn't happy to see you---wait, why would you think that? Well, whatever, you were already over to the two. "So, did you guys just finish in Parts and Service?" You asked.
Sun nodded. "Yup! We're all fine, so we're free to do whatever for the rest of the day off!" You got excited by the thought of that.
"Oh, that sounds fun! Say, if I'm good to go, too, do you two want to go over to the roller rink later today?" You offered.
The two animatronics glanced at each other, as if silently sending a message, before Moon answered. "That sounds good," they said, "we'll come by when your session here is just about done, okay?" You nodded.
"Sounds like a plan!"
The two smiled slightly, before walking up the steps but turning around to wave you goodbye. "We'll see you then!" Sun told you as the duo left. You felt warmth in your non-existent heart, for some reason. You had been for the past few days since becoming closer with the daycare attendants. You stayed where you were for a moment, replaying the moment in your head, before heading into the room through the doorway behind you.
Your Parts and Service check-up went as usual, got told the usual things. Up-to-date software, good endoskeleton, the normal stuff you hear from those appointments. Strangely enough though, you were asked to come back for a special appointment tomorrow. You weren't sure why, so you were just nodding along through the whole thing.
When that appointment was finally over, you made your way to the roller rink as fast as you could. You weren't one to leave guests waiting, after all!
At the front doors to the rink were Moon and Sun, both patiently waiting for you. They both noticed you and smiled upon your arrival, and you just had small disscussions of how your check-up went as you opened the doors. You mentioned your slight worry of this "special appointment" tomorrow, but Sun informed you more about it. "Oh, that? It's nothing, Y/N, don't worry about it!" That's just them saying that you need a simple part replacement, so you'd be deactivated for just one day." His words eased your nerves, and you simply thanked him.
In the rink you proudly showed the two the large skating area and designs all over that matched your whole theme. The two were fascinated with the section made specially for you, with the same wonder as you exploring the daycare fully for the first time. You showed the two how to use the skates, finding the ones made just for them, as each animatronic had a pair of skates here made specifically for them. Your own animatronic had the skates built-in so you never had to deal with finding skates, but you still liked doing it for others. Sun and Moon both listened as you explained how to roll around on skated, but in practice, they could use some practice.
On the rink, you were carelessly skating around, seeing behind you were two certainanimatronics struggling with this particular activity. You thought to yourself that they looked like newborn little animals struggling to keep themselves on their feet. Eventually, you did pity them a bit, and rolled over to them. Taking both of their hands, you led them around the rink happily. You were just thinking of how they were actually skating in the moment, and barely processed that you were holding each of their hands. You spun the two around with you, just having fun with others for once instead of having to just keep toddlers from falling flat on their faces.
After your shared joy with the two, you guys all chose to head back in, where you were helping to put away the skates. "So, how'd you two like it?" You asked.
"It was really fun!" Sun joyfully responded. "Thanks for inviting us, Y/N!"
Moon's reaction was deffinetly more quiet, but was still genuine. "Yeah...it was fun. We'll be remembering this day forever, together."
You smiled and turned to the two. "I'm glad you liked it!"
Sun returned your smile, looking even happier than you in the moment. "Of course, Sunshine!"
The three of you continued to chat for the rest of the day, until it was time for your two friends to leave. Just as you were waving goodbye to the two, you suddenly got pulled into an unexpected hug instead. You were surely suprised, but allowed it to happen. In the past you would've been put off by being hugged if it wasn't from a child visitor, but now you were pretty comfortable if it were from Sun or Moon. Or in this case, both.
After your moment of shock, you did hug back. A moment or two later, the three of you did split apart to actually leave.
"We'll be on our way, now, then." Moon stated with a faint smile.
"Okay!" You said. "Oh, and why don't you two come back next week? I'll show you guys loads of new tricks, alright?"
Sun seemed to enjoy your plan, as well as Moon. "Great idea! We'll come by next week after closing!"
You nodded, and waved goodbye as the two finally left.
Now that you would be on your own for the rest of today and tomorrow, you headed back to your room in Rockstar Row. You looked through your craft supplies, and found just what you needed to craft a duo of new felt plushies to sit beside your stuffed bat on the shelf.
So today was the day. You made your way around the kids in the PizzaPlex, and went downstairs to Parts and Service. Nervously, you entered the double doors.
Once inside, you were sat down with one of the mechanics. She explained that there was some type of problem with your memory card, and that's you'd need to be deactivated for the day while they fixed it. It was just a day, you thought to yourself. You'd still be able to go skating with Sun and Moon next week.
You agreed, knowing it'd be temporary. Little did you know that this was a huge mistake.
☆
8 years. 8 years, you'd been shut down. It was meant to be just one day. But it wasn't.
You awoke in a charging pod, feeling no passage of time. You stepped out, seeing nobody around. You glanced down, to see a little electricuted mouse which was nibbling on the wires of the charger. Poor thing, you thought to yourself. You figured that it just shut off the power of the pod by damaging the wires, which was why you came out by yourself. You were going to check your little device to check the time, only to find that it was out of battery. Which was weird, because it could normally go a whole week without charging. You saw a charging cable on a nearby desk, and put the device to charge on there.
After about 15 minutes of waiting, you unplugged it and were shocked to see what it said. July 3rd, 2043. 8 whole years later. What happened? Did they forget you? No, that wasn't possible, you were part of the main band. But how?
Your thoughts were interupted when you remembered---Sun and Moon. Did they forget you? The thought made your non-existant heart feel heavy. You stepped out of the single door you saw, and you realized where you were. The one door in Parts and Service that was closed off to animatronics. You knew from the small device that the PizzaPlex had already closed, so you felt it was safe to go out.
As you reached the main floor of the PizzaPlex, you felt a wave of nostalgia even though it felt like you were just here earlier today. You could tell that there was some construction work done on the place, with some areas moved around and new structures. The vibrant colors of the PizzaPlex felt just as they did all those years ago, but you knew that in that time they probably changed out all of the neon signs for newer, brighter ones. You lingered on the thought for a moment, before remembering what you were here for.
You went up one of the multiple staircases to the second floor, making sure to avoid the S.T.A.F.F. Bots. You didn't feel like making a scene right now with them. You just wanted to see your friends.
Looking down from the rails, you got a full look of the new PizzaPlex. It was the same building, but it felt new and unfamiliar while still feeling like home. You saw the stage you used to perform on, now empty and left alone after hours. Same with your rink, you saw it across the way, but decided that you'd go back there later.
You later made your way to those big, brown doors you used to come by. You felt oddly nervous about this. Why? They were your friends, after all. You missed a lot over the years, but they probably still remembered and missed you. Right? That's what you told yourself, anyway. Taking in a breath of air and letting it out, you opened up those big, familiar doors. It felt good to be back.
Inside, it felt the same as what felt like a week ago. The same padded floors and ballpit, the same glow-in-the-dark star hanging from the ceiling. You found yourself automatically walking in, the same route as when you met Moon for the first time. Going into the center of the room, it felt empty. Until you heard a strained voice behind you. "Y---Y/N...?" Looking around, you saw a certain duo of celestial animatronics, both seeming shocked to see you again. If you had the ability to produce tears, you were pretty sure that you'd be doing that right now.
"Sun...Moon..." was all you were able to get out. You had wanted to see them, and here they were. Moon came to you first, their voice and expression betraying their mixed emotions.
"Y/N---I---We, thought you got deactivated..." he said with Sun following behind.
You smiled through your bitter-sweet feelings, just happy to see your friends right now. "Well, I did, too." The two shared the same bitter-sweet, slight smile you did, but with lots of relief mixed in.
Before long, Sun came over and just wrapped you into a simple hug. "...Don't scare us like that again, okay?" You could feel his genuine worry for you from just his tone and action. After a moment, you hugged them back and Moon came over as well.
"I promise."
"Okay, good..."
After, you could feel two light kisses against your forehead as you didn't look up. That moment would deffinetly make your heart flutter if you had one, and you knew it.
Multiple moments passed as you stayed in the two's arms, feeling perfectly content with the current scene painted. You then remembered what you last promised years ago, and looked up to the two. "Hey, I just remembered---we still need to go to the roller rink together again! Feel like skating around at the moment?" You asked through your smile.
The two glanced to each other briefly before both giving a nod to your request.
"Of course, Y/N." The Sun and Moon animatronics said in unison as the three of you went out the big, brown doors together.
