Work Text:
The touches were too familiar; the burning desire they left in their path had never truly been gone.
Every movement was like an earthquake, strong hands guiding her by the waist, feeling sure on her
body—almost too sure.
Their breathing quickened, Nancy pressed up against Robin’s taller frame. Robin being taller than her
had always made Nancy feel secure, protected. Robin knew that Nancy was perfectly capable of
protecting herself, but still, having Robin hug her—Nancy’s head fitting like a key into the lock of
Robin’s neck—or wearing clothes two sizes too big that smelled like Robin let Nancy know that Robin
would always be there for her. And while Robin knew that Nancy was strong as hell, with her, Nancy
didn’t have to be.
With Robin, Nancy could break down, let the ugly cracks inside her show, and just be
a normal person. Robin didn’t need Nancy to be strong all the time—Robin was strong herself.
Robin mumbled something into Nancy’s ear before lightly kissing the sensitive skin of her neck. The
sensation left Nancy craving more, craving more of Robin. Her hands came up to pull at Robin’s hair,
giving it a tug that balanced perfectly between playful and painful. The air around them shifted, and
Nancy let her eyes fall closed.
It was spring. Flowers were showing off their beautiful colors, and birds chipped away at their songs.
Nancy had grown to love the months of spring and summer, and the reason why would make her blush deeply
before she would advert your gaze if you asked. The truth was that the sun gave Robin’s eyes a glow,
made them sparkle in such a mesmerizing way that took Nancy’s breath away.
Robin’s eyes in those warm months were like a mirrorball, soaking up the light and reflecting it
beautifully.
The soft pressure of a hand on her hip made Nancy’s eyes snap back open, blue meeting blue like the
ocean.
“We don’t have to do this, Nance. I want you to know that.”
Nancy reached out, deciding to answer Robin with action rather than words. The kiss was gentle. This
kiss wasn’t about lust, not about satisfying the primal need clawing at them both. This was Nancy giving
herself to Robin—giving Robin permission to take her.
When they broke apart, their foreheads bumped together, two heartbeats falling into old
synchronization.
They smiled, giggled even. The moment was sweet and tender, so completely raw
that it could have been overwhelming if not for the safety net of knowing each other inside and out.
“Is that enough to show you I very much want to, Buckley?” Nancy’s voice came out teasing, her fingers
busy curling into Robin’s hair.
“Didn’t know you could be so gentle, Wheeler.” Robin’s voice took on the same teasing tone, her hand
squeezing Nancy’s hip.
Nancy breathed in, held it, then released it—and without batting an eyelash replied,
“I can be anything you want me to be, Robs.”
