Summary
Nature didn't care for a single human.
Neither did Kalim.
The sea shifted beneath him, alive and restless. Kalim moved through the dark waters, drifting among the accidental treasures humans had dropped—gold and jewels that occasionally snagged on his spines. They glittered against scales, heavy but harmless, reflecting faint light like sparks that belonged to the deep.
Above, the King’s Roar cut through the waves with unusual purpose. Strong. Deliberate. Different from the careless merchants he usually ignored. Still, Kalim paid no mind—he did not notice humans unless they made themselves impossible to ignore.
And yet, the moment one of them fell into his waters, something changed. His song rose naturally, effortless, flowing through the currents without him noticing it at all. It filled the ocean around him, curious, probing… aware. And for the first time, a single human drew it in entirely: Jamil Viper.
