The sun peeked through the curtains of Sunset’s loft, where she and her girlfriend, Twilight “Sci-Twi” Sparkle, were currently cuddled up in bed. Sunset heard a whine coming from the other side of the bed, when she looked to see why Twilight whined she saw Twi pull the covers over her head, this got a chuckle out of Sunset as she looked at the time, 9:27 am. Sunset reluctantly got out of bed to start her morning routine, knowing they both had stuff to do today. Even if it was Sunday they still had plans to hang out with the girls and have dinner with Twilight’s parents(plus Shining Armor, Cadance and Flurry Heart). Once Sunset finished getting ready for the day she went to wake Twilight.
Her voice was soft and calm so as to not startle Twilight. “Hey, Sparky, it’s time to wake up” Which only earned a weak grumble from the cocooned geek. “Twi, come on sunshine, you gotta get up.” Twilight didn’t respond for a moment.
“Don’t feel good…” She said weakly, popping her head out from the covers. Sunset put a hand to Twilight’s head, concerned, she was surprised when she felt Twilight was burning up. She quickly got a towel wet with cool water to put against Twilight’s forehead. Twilight sighed out in relief. “I think I have a cold, considering the symptoms I’m feeling..” she finally said.
“I’ll cancel our plans to hang out with the girls. I’ll take care of you for now, do you want me to call your parents to pick you up? Cause I don’t think going home on a motorcycle would be good for you.” Sunset said, trying to think of what to do for Twilight. “I could make you some soup, if you want?” Sunset was worried, even if it was only a cold. Sunset didn’t really get sick often so she was wracking her mind trying to think of what could make Twi feel better.
“Soup sounds good, but could I get something for my headache?” The sunlight coming through the curtains was hurting her eyes, so she reached up to close them, only then did she realize Sunset was rubbing her thigh subconsciously. Twilight blushed slightly as she lied back down. “Could you also tell my parents to pick me up a little later?” Sunset looked at her confused. She blushed harder then admitted, “I-I still want to spend the day with you, but if you don’t want to that’s okay too.”
“Don’t worry Sparky if you want me to take care of you for the day I will, I promise.”
It was now 11:34 am, Twilight had just finished the chicken soup Sunset had made and was now cuddled up on the couch with her girlfriend, watching a nature documentary Sunset let her pick. While her fever had gone down Twilight was far from feeling better, her headache had yet to go away and she was cold but hot at the same time, it was very uncomfortable but she hadn’t thought about what she could do about it yet so she just continued to shift in discomfort at her current state until Sunset said
“Why don’t you take a shower, maybe that will make your body feel better?” Twilight blushed at the idea of using Sunset’s shower, while they have been dating for a while Twilight was still new to being this comfortable around someone. Twilight would usually gag at the idea of using another person's shower but she knew her girlfriend was nearly as much of a germaphobe as her so she knew it would be a clean shower.
After she got out of the shower it was almost time for her parents to pick her up. She was sad that their time together was ending but couldn’t help but be grateful for how well her girlfriend was taking care of her. She was currently wearing one of Sunset’s oversized hoodies and some shorts. She was glad she took that shower because she felt a lot better afterwards. They continued to watch the nature documentary in a comfortable silence, every now and then making comments about the cute animals. Sunset noticed that Twilight hadn’t said anything for a while and realized her girlfriend was fast asleep. Sweet Celestia, she’s adorable. Sunset reached over to grab twilight’s glasses and placed them on the coffee table. She put her hand on Twilight’s forehead to check her temperature again. She still has a fever but at least it’s not as bad as earlier. Sunset pressed a kiss to Twilight’s forehead and said something she didn’t think she would say for a long time.
“I love you so much, Twilight” Sunset didn’t realize what she said for a moment, but then it registered. Wait… Oh Celestia… I love her… Once she had made this realization she wondered if Twilight would feel the same. Does she love me..? Could she love someone like me? Sunset continued to think to herself while the documentary credits rolled and Twilight slept peacefully, not knowing the turmoil going on in her girlfriend’s mind.
Sunset laid in bed for 2 hours freaking out. Does she love me? Should I tell her I love her? What would she say? Would she say it back? Would she reject me? I mean we’re already dating so she might love me, but what if she doesn’t? What if she’s only taking pity on me?
Sunset continued to ask these questions, going in a downward spiral questioning herself. All the while Twilight was sleeping soundly beside her, but eventually she stirred due to Sunset’s heavy breathing and coming panic. Twilight turned to her girlfriend to hear and see her rapidly breathing and began to worry. “Sunset? Sunset, honey! Are you okay?! What’s wrong?” Sunset snapped out of her spiral, once she looked at Twilight’s worried face she knew how much Twilight cared about her and knew she was loved. With tears threatening to spill she said “I love you. I love you so much and it’s okay if you don’t feel the same but I needed to tell you because if I didn’t I would never say-” She was cut off by a kiss. Twilight cupped her face and said with a smile “I love you too.” Sunset was overwhelmed with joy when she realized Twilight loved her back. Then with a laugh Twilight said, “but you should probably take some medicine, because I’m still sick”
