Work Text:
Jude’s hair tended to get tangled up, quite a lot, okay more like he forgot to brush it. It wasn’t his fault he was a busy person. He had to gather materials for his traps, build the actual traps, and then kill people with them.
It’s not like he was an unhygienic person, as a rabbit-hybrid he could simply groom his ears and scut and other patches of fur, but he often was too tired to brush his hair. Besides it didn’t help that he often had his hood up, which further added to the mess that was his hair. He could cut it, but he preferred the length, the downside was its maintenance.
However today he was determined to get rid of the demon that his hair was. At least that’s what he thought, but three hours later and he wasn’t even halfway done with brushing his hair. At this rate his arms would fall out, but there was no other way to do this. If he didn’t do it then all his progress would’ve been for nothing.
“Stupid fucking hair.” Jude groaned into a pillow. He had plenty of enemies on the server, but right now his own head was his biggest enemy, and the indigo strands were winning this battle.
“Jude do you have hand lotion?” The swordmaster came into his room, not even bothering to knock. Ever since they became teammates Sharpness immediately moved in, Jude didn’t really mind, but really every time that the swordmaster asked for something it more reinforced the fact that he used to be fucking homeless. Of course Sharpness is not poor, but sometimes it did feel like it.
“Dude you need to buy your own.” Jude said, head still against the pillow. “It’s just there on the shelf.” Jude vaguely gestured to the bathroom.
Jude heard the swordmaster going into the bathroom. “You really need to get your own stuff. I’m surprised that you even managed to make yourself a room.” Jude said, finally lifting his head, slowly brushing his hair once more.
“Why if you got everything I need?” Sharpness walked out of the bathroom, and the sight of the swordmaster was enough to knock the air out of the trapper.
Usually Sharpness always had his armour on followed by his skin tight suit. However today Sharpness was wearing a black hoodie and gray sweatpants. It wasn’t the most groundbreaking outfit, but the simplicity of it. How relaxed Sharpness looked, how human he seemed, made Jude view the swordmaster in a different light. But the most beautiful sight was that of his hair down, the blond always wore his hair up, which made sense given his reputation, but Jude could very easily get used to this side of the swordmaster.
The trapper cleared his throat, “Whatever.” He avoided his gaze, continuing to brush his hair. His arms were exhausted but he pushed through the pain, he needed to get this done today.
“Do you need help?”
Jude’s hands stopped midway, “And why would you do that?”
“Because your hair looks like shit, and you are literally doing it all wrong.” The swordmaster explained, crossing his arms.
“Pft, like if you could do a better job.” The trapper continued brushing his hair, the brush getting stuck in a particularly rough knot. Jude tried pulling it out, but somehow it only got more stuck in his hair.
Sharpness laughed, “You are so bad at this.”
Jude was still struggling against his hair and eventually it got the better of him. “Then you do it!” He threw the brush on the bed, multiple indigo hairs falling on the bed.
Sharpness shook his head and the trapper thought that he’d finally leave him alone, but instead he grabbed the brush. “Let me teach you.” He lightly smacked Jude with the brush, sitting behind him.
The swordmaster then ran his fingers through his hair making the other realize that he was serious about this. “First of all,” the swordmaster began, gently brushing his hair, “Your hair is slightly textured but it’s still very fine, since it’s already dried it makes the damage even more severe.”
Sharpness continued brushing his hair, being more gentle than Jude was with his own hair. “How do you know all this?” Jude eventually asked after a couple minutes of silence.
“You think my hair maintains itself? It took me years to get my hair to be this long and shiny.” Of course Jude knew that Sharpness’ hair was long, they had different volumes of hair, but both were long. If anything, Sharpness was longer than his by a lot.
“How do you even find time to take care of it?” Jude asked, genuinely curious. The swordmaster was constantly getting into fights and practicing his own sword techniques. He was busier than the trapper and he still had time to take care of his hair.
“I don’t always have time, but I make sure to at least tend to my hair once a week.” Sharpness explained, humming as he continued to work on Jude’s hair.
It was oddly comforting, Jude thought that Sharpness was joking or that he’d be rough with his hair. But no, here he was, patiently combing his hair. Teammates were supposed to help each other, but this was crossing a line. A line into dangerous territory, for now Jude ignored what this meant for the two of them and instead decided to enjoy the moment of tranquility.
Sharpness continued to hum some song, it was soothing. Subconsciously Jude leaned into his touch, allowing the swordmaster to better brush his hair.
They didn’t speak, they didn’t need to. Not if they wanted to acknowledge what this meant for them. Sure this could be considered friendly behavior but both Jude and Sharpness knew otherwise. Yet the silence wasn’t awkward nor weird, it was peaceful. The soft passing of the brush, Jude occasionally moving to be more comfortable, and Sharpness’ humming. Jude didn’t have a teammate before, but now he was glad that he did.

Jude was laying on something hard but soft. It wasn’t a pillow and it certainly wasn’t a blanket. As he stirred awake he realized what he was laying on, or rather who.
The trapper immediately tried to get up, but Sharpness only held him tighter. “Sharp, wake up.” Jude tried to free himself from Sharpness’ hold but the swordmaster was stronger than him even in his sleep.
“Mhm, five more minutes.” The swordmaster groaned, slipping his fingers through Jude’s hair.
“Sharp!” Jude yelped at the sudden movement.
“Shhhh, it took me so long to untangle all this, let me reap the benefits.” Sharpness took a strand of the indigo hair. He wrapped it around his fingers, playing with it.
He then brings the strand to his lips. “It smells like strawberries. Would it also taste like strawberries?” The swordmaster nibbles on the piece of hair, resulting in a flustered Jude.
“Don’t do that.” Jude tries reaching for his hair, but with his other hand Sharpness stops him, holding him in place.
Sharpness only chuckles, leaning forward to place a tender kiss on Jude’s hand. Then he brings his hand down, tangling his body with Jude’s so that he can’t escape.
“I brushed your hair, now let me stay here.” The swordmaster mumbles, cuddling against Jude’s head.
Jude doesn’t say anything, he stays still not knowing what to make of the situation. Eventually he decides that he is too tired to think about it further. For now the swordmaster can win, besides he did brush his hair, so it’s only fair that he lets him do this.
“You are so clingy.” Jude sighs, resting against Sharpness’ chest. It doesn’t take long for the both of them to fall asleep in each other’s embrace.
