Work Text:

The heat beat down onto Atsushi, who was already coated in what felt like a second skin made of his own sweat. Coming home to his apartment and turning the AC on was what kept him working through the day. Well, that and the knowledge that a certain Mafioso dressed in primarily black was also waiting for him.

The door to his apartment had a bit of shade, a slight respite from the humidity. Atsushi unlocked the door, releasing a sigh he didn’t realize he was holding, and was blasted by a blissful wave of cool air. He entered, closed the door behind him and shuffled off his shoes, turning when he heard footsteps approaching.

“Hey Ryū, I’m h-“ Atsushi began to greet his partner when he saw what is was Akutagawa was wearing. A stretched out sleep shirt was draped over him, covering his lean, muscled torso, with only a pair of black boxers underneath.

Atsushi felt something in him stutter. Whether it was his heart or his lungs, he couldn’t tell, his bi-coloured eyes devoured the sight before him, like a starving man seeing the most delicious feast imaginable. A tired Akutagawa yawned, checking the wall clock above the front door with bleary eyes.

“You’re late.” he mumbled, giving his partner a half-hearted glare. Atsushi gave an involuntary but fond smile, moving forward to hold Akutagawa. He wrapped his arms around the Mafioso in a hug, hoping the thundering of his heart wasn’t obvious to the other. The two equally melted into the embrace, not needing to say anything for the other to understand how much they were missed.

“Did I wake you?” The detective asked gently, the question making Akutagawa put more effort into his glare.

“You took too damn long to come home.” Akutagawa sulked, even if he’d never admit to doing so, and gave the weretiger a slight shove. Atsushi knew that if he told Akutagawa he was sulking, the ability user would take his leg ... again.

“Let’s go back to bed?” He offered with an apologetic smile, which seemed to work because Akutagawa nodded and dragged Atsushi to their shared bedroom. While the rest of the apartment was organized and tidy, the bedroom was another story.

There were three different blankets thrown across the unmade bed, one pillow against the headboard, one at the foot of the bed and extras in the closet, for when either man has a nightmare and takes it out on said pillows. The sheet was even coming off the mattress on one of the corners.

“Ryū, I need to show-“ Atsushi protested, but Akutagawa seemed to not be listening, pulling the other onto the bed with him instead and keeping their bodies close together.

“I really around have a shower fi-“ The weretiger tried once again to convince his partner to let him clean himself  and failed, once again, to said partner, pressing their lips against his, arms circling his waist.

“Fine, but you can’t get upset if I stink in the morning.” The weretiger bargained, snuggling impossibly closer to his beloved emo.

“I make no such promise.” Akutagawa grumbled, making Atsushi laugh.

Notes:

Didn’t turn out how I originally meant it to, but I can’t really complain because, a) its finished, and b) it’s not terrible.
