Reason for Spontaneous Reorganization of Military Units:
While both the 241st and the 73rd were onboard the Valiant, illness began to spread through the ranks. It was quickly discovered that this was no contagious disease, but rather a bacterium found in the water of Saleucami. It was determined that ingestion of this bacterium was caused by defective water filters that had been issued as part of the GAR’s standard gear.
Orders were issued for the 241st to destroy a fuel refinery on Abafar. However, with General Harnet incapacitated, along with three quarters of the 241st’s clone troopers, the Jedi Council approved a joint mission with the 73rd. General Mustang was appointed to lead the endeavor with Padawan Elric serving as commander as Commander Hawkeye was unavailable due to illness.
Timeline of Events:
0600: Elric and Mustang were both summoned to the bridge to confer with the Jedi Council, where it was decided that the remaining functional troopers of the 73rd and 241st Battalions would join forces to destroy an evacuated fuel refinery on Abafar. Following the delivery of those orders, both Jedi communicated them to their respective clone troopers and collected the forces in the shuttle bay for the journey to the surface.
0640: Both battalions boarded shuttles and began the flight to the surface. Mustang laid out a potential plan to take the fuel refinery, utilizing the gunships to strafe the refinery while the GAR forces had the element of surprise. Elric started arguing that it was his battalion originally assigned to the mission and that he should get to decide on the plan pointed out that the plan was stupid because it didn’t allow civilian workers to get out of the factory and could cause massive kriffing casualties offered an alternate method that would ensure the factory had been evacuated prior to the assault.
0730: GAR forces arrived on the surface about half a klick from the refinery and prepared for combat while two clone troopers did a sweep to scan for lifeforms within the fuel refinery. No lifeforms were detected, as was expected per the mission briefing, and Elric led the 241st Battalion down the center toward the fuel refinery as a distraction while the 73rd Battalion split to flank the refinery from both sides.
0755:Elric’s forces encountered Separatist droids and engaged them, providing a distraction as per the plan. The Separatist forces had three tanks, which began inflicting casualties. The 73rd lost 17 troopers before they were able to take out one of the tanks. This caused confusion among the droids, which the 241st capitalized on by hitting one of the remaining tanks with an EMP grenade, effectively halting it and creating a lull in the fighting.
0755: Mustang’s forces marched towards the fuel refinery and, once Elric’s forces had engaged with the droids, advanced on the fuel refinery with the intent to destroy it. However, it was quickly discovered that the Separatists had left droidekas and super battle droids behind to defend the refinery, which presented a roadblock to the factory’s destruction. Heavily assailed by the Separatist droids, including the loss of 12 clone troopers, Mustang was unable to immediately contact Elric to determine an alternate plan.
0830: Elric saw an opportunity in the momentary pause to seize the remaining armored assault tank. The droids were scattered and disoriented, firing wildly on the GAR forces without anything resembling a strategy. Elric gathered a small group of soldiers and charged a kriffing tank rapidly advanced, quickly getting too close for the tank to fire on them, and together they climbed into the tank and overpowered the droids inside. After issuing a warning to seek cover, the 241st forces within the tank fired on the surrounding Separatist droids. This effectively ended the skirmish.
0845: Mustang finally got a chance to contact Elric and found that the 241st was no longer providing a distraction because they’d completely destroyed the droids they’d been facing. Mustang instructed Elric and the 241st troopers to continue toward the fuel refinery and begin the destruction of the equipment, but to leave the refined fuel to be seized and used for the GAR.
0850: The 241st reached the hill on which the fuel refinery was located and were confronted by droidekas. Elric, seeing that this would be an issue, went back for the tank in order to eliminate the droidekas and allow them to take the fuel refinery. When Mustang realized that Elric was in the tank, he threw a hissy fit directed Elric to leave the tank and follow the plan.
0900: Elric refused to get out of the tank recognized the tank as a valuable asset to aid in completing the objective and proceeded toward the fuel refinery. While he fired on the droidekas, overwhelming their shields, the 241st followed him and used thermal detonators to destroy the remaining droidekas. Mustang and the 73rd battalion were able to defeat the Separatist droids on the sides of the fuel refinery, which officially cleared the way for the GAR to seize the fuel within the refinery before destroying it.
0910: Elric blew everything up. The refinery. All the fuel. The entire kriffing hill the refinery stood on. Mustang forgot to tell me to get the fuel first No, I didn’t, you little twerp. I told you literally 25 minutes before you started shooting up the place that we were trying to save the fuel. I barely had time to tell my men to get down before- You know what, this is unprofessional. We’re deleting this and trying again.
0910: Due to a miscommunication, Elric commenced destruction of the factory while the stores of fuel were still inside. Mustang ordered the troopers of the 241st and 73rd to get down and, if possible, to evacuate the area. Laser cannon fire repeatedly struck the fuel refinery and inadvertently struck fuel canisters stored both within the refinery and in the loading dock outside the refinery. The fuel ignited, and then exploded, which completely demolished the fuel refinery and also flattened the hill on which the refinery stood.
0920: Mustang and Elric gathered their troops and prepared to return to the shuttles. Mustang forced Elric out of the tank at lightsaber point persuaded Elric to leave the tank behind to avoid any further incidents.
0945: Both battalions and their assigned Jedi boarded the shuttles and were transported back to the Valiant, where the troops that had been left behind due to illness were beginning to recover. This renders the joint mission of the 241st and 73rd Battalions of the GAR concluded. Each battalion will return to separate command unless otherwise instructed.
