Work Text:
Robin paced back and forth around the WSQK station, her hands bouncing up and down in an attempt to soothe herself.
Joyce sat nearby, watching the anxious girl.
The rest of their team was on a crawl, and the two women had been left behind at the station to help work comms. For whatever reason, though, Robin was especially anxious on this day.
She supposed it was most likely a mix of her being sleep-deprived and burnt out, as well as the fact that Steve had a more crucial role in this particular crawl, meaning he was at higher risk.
Whatever the reason, though, she was quickly spiraling into a full-blown panic attack.
"Hey" Joyce said softly, catching the girl's attention. Robin looked at her with wide eyes, her frame shaking and her chest rising and falling rapidly as she hyperventilated. Joyce frowned. "Come here" she gestured next to her. "It's alright"
Robin did as she was told, sitting next to the older woman. She was rocking back and forth, but Joyce mercifully didn't comment on it.
"Just focus on your breathing, okay? In... And out..."
This was hardly Joyce's first interaction with a panic attack. From her own anxiety problems over the years to Jonathan's meltdowns when he was younger, to Will's PTSD from everything he'd been through...
Well, this was familiar territory to her.
After a few minutes, Robin began to calm down, and sheepishly thanked Joyce for her support.
Joyce just smiled and turned her attention back to the task at hand.
She wasn't particularly fond of Robin but, at the end of the day, she couldn't help but try her best to support the kids involved in this whole mess.
