Work Text:
Benjamin and Julia were sitting on the couch, snuggled as close to each other as they possibly could get. They had the lights on in the living room and were trying to watch some movie, but both of them had lost the plot a good while ago as they had become so focused on each other. The apartment.. it wasn't just Julia's home any longer. It was now theirs as Benjamin had officially moved in. Not a lot of time had passed since then and he still slept on the couch as Julia's bed wasn't big enough for two people. He always kept saying that it didn't bother him; the couch was actually really comfortable and wide enough so that he wasn't risking falling onto the floor in the middle of the night. But Julia didn't necessarily feel good about making her boyfriend camp out on the couch like he was just a temporary guest, which he was not. She had started looking at the prices of beds on her free time.
Benjamin was resting his head on Julia's shoulder, eyes half-lidded like he was getting closer and closer to falling asleep. Her arm had been placed around him. Outside, raindrops were hitting the windows, creating a steady beat of their own which only enhanced the sleepy effect on Benjamin. He was incredibly comfortable being right where he was.
"You wouldn't be too upset if we did end up getting that new bed? A bigger one where we'd be able to fit together?"
Julia decided to bring up the subject as she reached for the remote that was balanced on the armrest to her right and then turned off the TV.
"Did you order one..?"
Benjamin's quiet voice asked after a silence that had been long enough for Julia to wonder if he had fallen asleep.
"No.. I've only been looking at them. Turns out that they are quite expensive,"
she said back with a little smile on her face. Benjamin responded with a subtle nod and hummed something Julia couldn't quite catch.
"We don't have to keep talking about it now,"
she then continued as Benjamin fell silent once more.
"I don't think you should be expected to make any really important decisions right at this moment."
She moved her hand a little and softly brushed some loose strands of hair off of Benjamin's forehead. He reacted to this gesture by pressing himself a little closer to Julia.
"Mh.. Maybe not.."
he was still able to say, eyes now properly closed.
"Still, I think it could be an important conversation for later. A cuddle bug like yourself shouldn't have to sleep on the couch for the rest of your life."
"Beats the bunks on Botnia Paradise.. Don't tell anyone, but those beds certainly were.. something.."
Benjamin added with a long yawn and loosely placed an arm to rest across Julia's stomach. She smiled at him, again.
"You can tell me more if you want. I promise I won't tattle on you."
She was met with a calm silence.
"Benjamin?"
Still no response. As she leaned in to check on him, she realized that he had at last fallen asleep in the middle of all the cuddling and talking.
"Sweet dreams, my swan."
