Work Text:

Shota Aizawa sat in his classroom, zoning out while staring at his still-yapping class. The day had already gone on for too long, everything just sounded so loud to his ears, his head was pounding, and he just needed a drink.

“What should heros act like towards civilans? Bakugo you are not allowed to answer.” Aizawa looked around the room, a few hands shooting up. Midoriya was mumbling to himself again, and he found it best to not interfere with his notes, even though his classmates look disturbed.

His eyes wandered over to the head of bright yellow hair laid on a desk, “kaminari, what’s the answer.”

Kaminari quickly brought his head up, looking around the room in a daze, “uh.. 42..?”

He sighed, rubbing the bridge of his nose, “no.”

Aizawa thought for a moment, how far did he have to go to get fired? If he started drinking in the middle of a lesson would he be fired? No, nezu wasn’t dumb enough to fire one of the most efficient teachers in the school.

Next class, he had an idea.

Another day, another headache. It hurt more this time, probably from hizashi yelling in his ear because there was an ant on the table. He was just so tired, but now he had supplies.

3 bottles of whiskey sat under his stand, ready for him, calling to him.

He fought the urges to reach under the desk and take a swig when Kaminari stood up and was already at his quirk limit. What happened?? They hadn’t been using their quirks today, and class just started.

He sighed, getting ready to talk to the class.

“Ok, today I’m going to be asking you questions to get you ready for the written version of the exam.” All of the kids groaned, not wanting to do anything today, huh?

Well they will regret that soon.

“First question, an easy one. Who is the number 1 hero?” His voice was monotone, already annoyed at these kids.

Midoriyas hand shot up. Of course he wants to answer. God.

“Midoriya,” he stares out at the green haired kid, practically bouncing in his seat.

“The number 1 hero is All Might! You know..” the kid trailed off, probably going on about some random all might fact that no one but him would know.

“Good, now stop talking.” He looked over the kids again, seeing some tired faces.

“Ok, next question. Who is the 3rd hero on the popularity charts this year?” He saw a specific hand go up, Tokoyami. He probably knew because he did his work study with hawks, so he is not the best person to choose.

He looked over at the right side of the room, pointing at a very short… thing, “Mineta.”

“Is it midnight?” We aren’t even 2 minutes into the lesson and he can already drink? Wow, his class is dumb.

He paused, “now time to tell you the twist.” Most of the class gasped or yelled out, “what?” But he silenced them quickly.

“It’s not anything bad, it’s something that only applies to me.” He reached under his stand, and pulled up one of the bottles. The class looked surprised, of course they weren’t expecting this.

Should he have asked nezu for permission? Nah, he will be fine.

“Every time one of you gets an answer wrong, I will take a shot. So unless you want present mic to substitute your class tomorrow, I would suggest you try your best.” He popped the top off of the bottle, pouring it into a small shot glass he brought.

He grabbed it, then swung his head back and drank it all. He sighed, placing the glass back on the table.

Why was iida raising his hand.

“What?” He looked over at him, raising an eyebrow.

“Sir! I am fairly sure that it is against the rules to drink alcohol on campus. You are not allowed to be playing a drinking game in the middle of class!” Why was he so annoying? That party pooper.

He groaned, running a hand through his hair, “were you allowed to go fight the hero killer? Did you still do it? Exactly.

The class gasped, Mina starting to giggle, “wow, Mr Aizawa is hardcore!”

“Next question, if you are on your internship and there is a villain, do you tell the hero you are with? Or go off on your own and almost die?” He stared directly into iidas eyes when he said that, making sure he knew it was directed to him.

Todorokis hand raised, “you tell the hero. It’s not safe to go off on your own, especially without telling any of your friends or heros.”

Aizawa stifled a laugh, he was starting to like this kid. “Good.”

47 shots. 47 shots were taken that day. Out of 100 questions. They got almost half of them wrong. How were these kids gonna be heros one day?

He sat in nezus office the next day, a headache even worse than the day before pounding through his skull.

“As you know, alcohol is not allowed on campus,” the principal started to explain, standing on his chair with that dumb little smile he always has, “but I will not punish you for this.”

Score. He knew nezu wasn’t gonna do anything.

“I just think the idea was a bit too funny to pass up, so I watched the whole thing!” He closed his eyes, happily explaining this whole thing.

Wow, he didn’t expect him to actually like the idea.

“I’m sorry for bringing you out here after yesterday, you may head home as soon as you’d like.” That smile returned to the principals face, looking up at Aizawa.

“Alright, thank you, sir.” He stood up, turning around and walking out of his office.

He loved his job.
