Chapter Text
A hot summer day fell upon Silly College, Bird, who was currently sweating his balls off, huffed as he carried his last bag out his car. Marble mewed unhappily next to the pale skinned man, rubbing his face against Bird’s baggy pants.
“Awwwww, Marble, I know it’s hot but you have to wait..” Bird crooned to the cat, scratching behind their ears. The cat purred back in response. Bird strained for a moment as he lifted his bags off the floor, Marble lying on top of it. Pushing the door open into the cooled college, the cold air rivaling the heat of outside. Bird swiped a bead of sweat off his forehead as he let the cool air wash over him. Then he saw them. SOREN. HOW IS THIS BUM STILL IN COLLEGE?? Bird yelled in his mind. That idiot probably didn’t even know how to spell “hello!” Bird’s jaw dropped in shock before he rolled his eyes, and continued walking toward his new dorm.
Pushing the door open he was met with another man, adorned in a black and white suit. He had a light purple undercut contrasted by dark black hair. Bird paused for a second, looking at the man, he looked back. Both of them shared a moment of silence before one of them spoke up.
“Ummm.. hey.” The man nodded to Bird. Bird snapped out his haze, he was probably staring at the poor guy like an idiot.
“Oh, uh.. hi!” Bird waved to the man. “I’m um.. I’m Bird, by the way.” He added the last part on, a smaller text box popping up under his previous one. Probably better to get introductions over with anyway. This was his roommate after all.
“I’m Gold.” Gold responded quickly, probably didn’t want to talk much. They were both still strangers to each other anyway. Bird turned away, giving Marble a small pat as he put his last bag onto his new bed. Good thing he brought his own mattress, seeing as the current one was covered in a questionable, slightly sticky substance. Not something Bird would want to lay on. Suddenly a quiet meow was heard behind him, he turned around to see another cat. It was a small, fluffy, black and white cat with a bright yellow eye. Marble hissed tentatively at the other cat cautiously. Gold and Bird met eyes again as it dawned on the two that they both had cats. Bird picked up Marble, pressing a kiss to the small cat’s forehead, softly scolding him for immediately being hostile. Gold did the same, grabbing his own cat to separate the two.
“Yeahh, sorry about that.” Bird giggled to himself. “I’m sure they’ll get along soon?” Bird offered to the man, hopefully he wouldn’t get mad about Marble.
“Nah, you’re good dude.” Gold agreed, a small chuckle breaking through. Bird gave a small goodbye as he went out to grab a bite to eat. Not to his surprise he opened his door to see Soren standing there like a homeless bum. Bird shoved a hand at the short man’s face, pushing him out his way.
“Hi Bird!!” He greeted, Bird huffed before replying.
“Do I know you?..” He grumbled, Soren stayed hot on Bird’s trail as he made his way to the college cafeteria.
“Yeah! We’ve known each since…” Soren took a moment to count on his fingers like the idiot he is. “Sixth grade!!”
“Yeah yeah whatever stupid, how are you still here bro.” Bird asked, cringing at the man next to him.
“I don’t know bro, I cracked someone n got in.” Soren said casually, as if they were talking about weather.
“Oh my goduhhhh. You’re a WHORE!!!” Bird yelled at him, dragging a hand down his face. He rolled his eyes, pushing his friend to the side as he opened the cafeteria doors. Browsing the food in the room he walked over and grabbed a bottle of water, and Sunny D, along with a bag of chips. Walking back out he tossed the Sunny D at Soren’s head. The yellow man caught it, tearing the cap off so he could drink. As Bird was chugging his water he ran into someone. Spitting out his water that he ended up choking on his coughed out an apology before getting a good look at the guy.
“Hey that’s my roommate!” Soren exclaimed, pointing a mighty finger at the poor guy who looked like he was about to die of embarrassment. Bird looked at the pair, raising an eyebrow as to question Soren.
“No… NO NO NO!!” The man scrambled to his feet as he looked at Soren. “IT”S THE DORM WHORE..” He quickly ran off, clearly eager to get away from the smiling yellow dude next to Bird. Bird stared deadpan for a moment before speaking,
“What could you have POSSIBLY said to that POOR GUY.” Bird yelled at his friend.
“I didn’t do nothinnn..” Soren pleaded, a pout on his face as he looked back at Bird. Bird sighed in return, picking his now spilled water bottle up off the floor. The skittish man had already fled far, far away from the two. Probably for the better. Bird popped open his bag of chips, holding out the bag for Soren to grab some as they walked. The pair entered the actual cafeteria, people were scattered around at tables, a particular pair stood out. Two other men, one was purely pitch black, missing a face but clearly still able to do things you’d need a face for. The other was all white, with white hair too, similar to Bird. The two were chatting away, the white one clearly more talkative than the other. The one with no face was wearing a hot pink sports jacket with white sleeves, along with hot pink shades and a black baseball cap with a pink skull design. The other one was wearing a blue turtle neck with black jeans, a blue fedora, and a brown satchel. The one in the sports jacket seemed a bit uninterested as the other yapped away. Bird pointed the pair out to Soren, mentioning how they looked interesting. Soren replied with something about them being his roommates friends. Amazing. What better way to talk to someone than telling them that their friend’s roommate is a hoe. Bird sighed before sucking it up and approaching the two. Soren followed behind, finishing his Sunny D and chucking it in a nearby trash can. The white one was the first to notice the two, greeting them with an awkward enthusiasm.
“Hiiii,” The guy said to the approaching two. “Umm.. who are you?” He said a bit quieter than his previous word.
“Heyy, I’m Bird.” Bird responded, his signature black text box popping up next to him. “And this is Soren..” He added, gesturing to the yellow guy who was probably looking for more food. The other man returned the favor, offering his and his friend’s name.
“I’m Rory!” He paused for a moment before gesturing to the not so enthusiastic man. “..and this is Hell!” The man, now known as Hell, grumbled something before rolling his “eyes” away from the pair.
“Sooo, you guys are new here, right?” Bird questioned, giving a small whistle to clear up the awkward silence considering he wasn’t actually talking.
“Yeah! It’s our first year here. If I’m being honest though, I’m only here because of my dad.” Rory chuckled awkwardly before clearing his throat and continuing. “Ahem.. since uhm.. my dad owns the school—“
“WHATTTTTTT??!?!?!!” Soren suddenly screamed, his jaw basically on the floor. The entire cafeteria whipped their head around at the sudden noise. Bird froze, a hot red flush creeping up his cheeks in utter embarrassment of being associated with Soren.
“What. The. FUCK WAS THAT.” Bird yelled at his friend, seething. Soren responded by grabbing Bird’s shirt and yanking him down to his level to whisper something in his ear. Bird face turned from surprise, to shock, to something of disgust and anger. Bird just ended up punching the bridge of his nose and shaking his head in disappointment.
“Sooo.. did I say something wrong?..” Rory suddenly spoke up. “NO!” Bird jumped to answer.
“Ahah.. no, no no you’re fine.” He scratched the back of his head as he calmed down, his words jumbling back into a text box. “Uhm.. I think we’ll take our leave now.” Bird flashed a smile before turning to leave only to hear his friends voice once again.
“Wait.. so YOUR dad owns the school? Like THIS school??” Soren asked awkwardly.
Bird whipped around before shouting, “NON, NOUS QUITTONS SOREN. POURQUOI ES-TU COMME ÇA??” He sobbed the last part out, then grabbed Soren’s hood, and dragged the man out the cafeteria by force.
After the embarrassing ordeal Bird groaned into his hands, praying this wasn’t gonna dent his social life. He forced Soren to go back to his dorm and think about what he did like some sort of child. Bird could deal with that later. He pondered the halls at a slow pace, people passing by him, trying to familiarize themself with the school. Eventually he stopped by a vending machine, feeding the greedy machine his cash in exchange for a can of soda. As he was about to crack open the soda he spotted a familiar face. The skittish boy from earlier. Hopefully Soren’s dorm title didn’t spread to him too seeing how fast the guy ran away before. The boy seemed to notice Bird staring since he trained his green eyes on him. Well, at least he even had eyes? Bird supposed, seeing as his previous encounter was friends with someone who didn’t even have a face??
The guy walked over to Bird before speaking. “Hey dude!” He called out cool-ly. “So uh.. sorry about earlier. That was probably pretty awkward.”
Bird popped open his soda and began to drink, gesturing the other man to look at the text box that appeared next to his head. “Nah, you’re cool man.” It read. The guy looked confused for a moment before shrugging, it probably wasn’t the weirdest thing he’s seen today.
He continued speaking, “Well, I’m Len, it’s my first year here! I’m still learning my way around, but it’s nice to meet you.” Len extended his hand to shake. Bird extended his in return, the two shook hands before Bird continued speaking, not out loud though.
“I’m Bird, it’s my second year. I’ve been wandering around, meeting all the new people, Y’know?” Len took a moment to read, then nodded his head.
“Well, if it interests you, I saw this cool girl named ‘Knight’ over near the girl dorms!” Len yammered on. Knight is a strange name but Bird definitely couldn’t be judging when his is literally bird. Bird didn’t end up hearing the rest of Len’s yap session as he waved goodbye, making up some excuse to go and find ‘Knight.’ After a few a minute of walking Bird found himself at the sorority dorm. In the distance he saw.. Hell? Talking to some blue haired girl in baggy clothes. That’s a pair Bird wasn’t expecting to see. He figured he could properly introduce himself to Hell this time.
Bird approached the pair cautiously, the blue haired girl seemed to notice him first seeing as her eyes darted to him the moment he started approaching. She probably mentioned something to Hell seeing as he suddenly turned around with a grimace on his.. face? Maybe it’s better to stop thinking about that. Bird finally got into hearing range of the two. The girl spoke up first, introducing herself.
“Hi!!” She started, “I’m Knight, and this is Hell, it’s our first year here.”
“Heyyy.” Bird’s text box read. “I’m Bird, and I’ve already met Hell.” Bird chuckled a bit as the second chat showed up.
“Yeah.” Hell mumbled, clearly not very enthusiastic. He clearly no longer wanted to be near the two. Maybe he wasn’t a big fan of to many people.
“Soo.. where are you guys from?” Bird asked a little ice breaker, his face making a questioning look so he didn’t look blank faced next to his text box.
“I’m from Hell.” Hell said briskly. Bird and Knight stared at the man blankly.
“So.. your name is Hell.. and you’re FROM Hell..?” Knight said quizzically. Hell simply glared at the poor girl in response. Knight ended up raising her hands to keep the peace. “Well im from the medieval times!” She said proudly, as if that was just a normal statement. Bird stared at the two, baffled.
“So uhm.. Y’know what? I think I’ll go now.” Bird said, shooting finger guns with a little ‘pew-pew’ sound as he backed up before fully turning around and walking away quickly. As he sped away from the two he spotted two more people. One seemed to be a large green lizard, with a softer yellow-green belly. The other was a girl with white hair, simply wearing a casual outfit. They gave him a wave as they noticed him too. Bird waved back, they weren’t strangers anyways. They were Star and Newt, two of his best friends, maybe he’d hangout with them another day though. It was turning dark currently, so he should probably be getting back to his dorm before they locked the doors for the night.
By the time Bird finally walked across the campus to his dorm stars were starting to pierce through the glow of the setting sun. Bird pressed his keycard to the door, a soft, familiar click sounded as he let himself in. Taking an elevator up to his floor he finally found himself standing in front of his new dorm. Opening the door he was met with a half unpacked room, his roommate wasn’t inside yet but they clearly already unpacked. A familiar meow was heard by his feet. Bird looked down to see the cute face of Marble. His cat’s new friend, X, was passed out on his roommates bed. Bird shuffled around his messy side of the room, grabbing a can of cat food out a box for Marble. He cracked open the can and left it on the floor for his cat. Slumping down on his bed he rethought his day as darkness slowly filled the room and he was overtaken by sleep.
