He forced himself out of his thoughts when Jonathan sat beside him. He kept playing with the food on his plate, with no desire to eat. It happened often. The punishments, although physical and never seeming severe, wore him down mentally more than he had ever dared to imagine.
“Not hungry again, Aaron?”
He could not smile at him. He wanted to say something, do something to lighten the mood, but the mental torment returned. He begged for forgiveness, over and over again. He was used to it. Every night when he went to sleep, every time he visited the Bellamys, every time he saw him, every time he thought of Jonathan in a sinful way.
