Summary
Mike hasn't forgotten the solid weight of Will caged inside his arms, or the minty scent of his shampoo, tucked so close against his nose. What it means. Why it's relentlessly chewed him up for the last two years.
Those were dangerous thoughts, though. Mike didn't know what to do with them, their increasing urgency, and so flipped the photo over to give himself a break.
And there, on the back, scrawled in deep blue ink, was a note. Will's shaky handwriting had improved, shrunk, but it was as unmistakable as the slope of his nose, the mole near his mouth.
'You should visit sometime. I'd love to show you around. I miss you.' Followed by an address and a dorm number, signed simply 'x - Will'.

Or: after receiving a letter prompting Mike to visit Will at college, Mike realizes a lot about himself, like he won't tolerate people pushing into Will's space and that he's finally ready to admit what he couldn't at the end of the world.
