Chapter 1: morning

Chapter Text

The sun was barely rising over the horizon as Wireglasses' eyes shot open, her mind and body immediately waking up as her hand slammed ontop of the alarm clock that sat on the bedside table, silencing it before it could go off. She grinned to herself. Another victory against the machine. He hadn't lost to it for a few years by now. Wireglasses turned her head to the sleeping inkling next to her; his usually hardened face now soft as he rested.

She smiled to herself at the sight of 8-Bit's resting form. It wasn't like she didn't like how he was when awake with his hardworking and uptight personality, he was just responsible after all, but he couldn't help but adore how he is when those walls he puts up around others fall when around her. Wireglasses leaned over to kiss his forehead, her hand on his cheek, before getting of their bed and starting the day.

By the time Wireglasses finished getting showered, changed, folding the laundry, and putting away the dishes they had washed together the night before, it was 6:28. He made his way back to their shared room, making it just in time for 8-Bit's alarm to go off. 8-Bit was already propping himself up, letting the blaring alarm screech into the room. Wireglasses turned it off swiftly, now standing next to the bed.

"Morning." She smirked at the shorter inkling, her hands smoothing down his bedhead. He grumbled a response, swatting her hands away. He pulled his tentacles back into a ponytail before finally opening his eye and looking up at his girlfriend.

8-Bit pulled the covers off and stood up, scracthing his stomach under his tanktop as he kissed Wireglasses. "What's your schedule today?" He questioned, walking towards the bathroom. Wireglasses followed after him, watching him like some lab rat. "Got a team meeting, a match with some challenger, and a lot of games to watch over." She hummed in response, watching her boyfriend clean his face and apply his makeup. Even if he didn't respond, she knew he was listening. She had noticed how attentive he could be. She finished
off with an "And you?"

"Practice. A match. Scrimmage with Barrel. Then solo training." 8-Bit went through his mental list as he styled his tentacles up, curling the ends of two and crossing two of them in the back. He finished his hair by styling his two shortest tentacles up like attenae. Wireglasses never knew why he did it, but it made him look like some bug. A cute one.

"Hm. Maybe we'll see eachother sometime today." She handed him his glasses, which he gratefully took and put on. "Maybe." He shrugged, going to their closet to get dressed. Wireglasses stayed to see him undress a littke before leaving to make him breakfast nefore he left. She still had time before her meeting, which was much later. Wireglasses only woke up this early as a habit and it felt like a victory against the entire city, shew as surely up before anyone else! 8-Bit, however, woke up early to get as much training and work done in the day. Someday she just had to force him to take a rest day...

Wireglasses was finishing up 8-Bit's lunch when he walked in, wolfing down the eggs and refried beans she had made for him. He grabbed the bag, slipping his shoes on and fixing his legwarmers while sitting on the floor near the front door. Wireglasses stood behind him, bending over his form. He looked up, a brow raised. "What?" She stared at him. He was so adorable...

"Nothing. Have a good day. Get stronger."

8-Bit grinned and stood up, careful not to bump into her. He gave her a kiss, his hand found hers and interlocked their fingers.

"...Thanks." He turned away, but she saw his cheeks reddening. Wireglasses snickered to herself and waved as he ran out the door, slamming it shut.
