Summary
A year after leaving Hawkins, Mike thinks following Will to New York was the easy part. Watching Will fall apart over someone else is not.
Will Byers is nearly a year into his first real relationship- and whatever safety it once offered is cracking under the weight of routine, doubt, and everything left unsaid. Trapped between the comfort of what he knows and the terrifying idea of wanting more, Will turns to the one person who has always understood him: Mike.
Late-night calls, confessions, and half-healed wounds blur the line between friendship and something far more dangerous. Will doesn’t notice the way Mike listens too closely, or how feelings long buried are starting to stir again, the dust shaken loose by every word, every plea for comfort.
Mike wants to be a good friend. He really does.
But somewhere beneath the loyalty and the longing, a quiet, selfish hope whispers that maybe, just maybe this broken thing Will is holding onto won’t survive much longer.
