Work Text:
Sometimes Perma felt sick of the atmosphere in the hospital, and before you imagine a normal human hospital, it wasn't anything like that. All the nurses were guardian angels, and lived high above the Earth, far from the humans. They weren't quite in the clouds, but still in some sort of sky. Perma recognised it as a reflection of the ocean (or the other way around, he wasn't truly sure) with how the guardian angels flew the same way the sea creatures in the ocean floated.
One time he saw a pink seashell that reminded him of Tempa.
When that happened he quickly tore the precise report out of his clipboard when he accidentally wrote the other nurse's name in the middle of the page (and accidentally drew hearts around it). He was meant to be researching the Earth's environment, not thinking of his """"""co-worker"""""""
Either way, Perma wasn't fond of his workplace. It was ironic enough to him that the environment made for healing only made him feel sick. The only reason he was there and not elsewhere was because he secretly hoped Tempa would find him.
“THAT'S NOT TRUE THAT'S NOT TRUEEEE!!!!!"
Ignore him he's a dirty liar.
His wish was granted, as soon he heard a cheerful, "My lovely Nurse Nurse Perma!"
and looked to his side to see Nurse Tempa, the cheerful pink nurse who smiled as wide as the sky stretched. Perma returned the smile with a small, shy one.
“What're you doing here?" Perma innocently asked, pretending he wasn’t planning on desperately standing at the same spot all day until he was noticed. "STOP CALLING ME OUT????"
Tempa ignored his odd outburst and sat next to him. "You were standing there for a while so I was wondering if you were waiting for someone!"
“I was waiting for you!" Perma blurted without thinking.
“I know you were! I wanted you to say it out loud and you did!"
Perma screamed externally. He didn't do it internally because there was nothing left for him to hide anymore. Tempa screamed with him, but his was out of excitement.
The blue nurse stopped screaming and put on his serious face.
“I have so much work to do."
“I can help help you," Tempa politely offered.
Perma's mouth gaped into his usual shocked expression. "No you can't! You do the opposite of helping me!"
Tempa hid his smile with an innocent and confused expression. "How so?"
“Because I always end up wanting to kiss you!"
Tempa smiled again. "I know you do! I wanted you to say it out loud and you did!"
Perma wanted to grab his boyfriend's shoulders and shake him while screaming at him, but instead he ended up hugging him and screaming into his shoulder. Tempa patted his back in support, letting him process his emotions, trying not to laugh.
“You're such a cute cute nurse," Tempa said fondly.
“You're also a nurse..."
“Just a nurse?"
Perma's face reddened when he quietly added, "A cute one."
Tempa felt a burst of affection and cupped Perma’s face to kiss his forehead, which was enough to send the shy nurse screaming from shock again. Perma felt like he was going to faint from all the affection at this rate, though it was a slight improvement. Only a few months ago he couldn't even hold Tempa's hand without feeling like he had to go to Church and repent- and that was a big reaction considering religion wasn't even a thing in this universe.
Often he felt like he had to be more confident, so this time he made the choice to lean up and kiss Tempa's cheek for a split second. Tempa blinked, and soon his entire face went red. Perma gasped in shock. He managed to make Tempa the flustered one for once! Holy shit.
“DON'T SWEAR!!!!"
“Perma you kissed me!!!" Tempa exclaimed. He was freaking the fuck out.
“STOP SWEARING. And yes I did!!!" Perma said, just as shocked.
“Can you-“
“NO!” Perma screeched before Tempa requested him to do it again.
Tempa laughed and grabbed him into a tight hug instead. Sometimes he wanted to squeeze Perma so tightly until he exploded, either that or eat him.
“You’d be blueberry flavoured…” Tempa murmured to himself.
Perma looked at him, horrified.
“Or maybe bubble bubblegum,” he continued muttering as if he was thinking of a normal thing.
“T-Tempa…?”
“No no, cotton candy!”
“I DON’T WANT TO BE EATEN, TEMPA???”
“Don’t worry I’ll melt you down into an ice lolly shape first!”
“w-WHAT??!”
Tempa covered his smile. It was just so easy to tease him, he couldn’t help it.
“Think of it this way, you wouldn’t have to do anymore work!”
Perma looked at him with dilated eyes, as if he was actually considering this idea.
“Perma, I’m not going to kill you dessert style so you can no longer be in life-long labour,” Tempa clarified.
The blue nurse sighed. “Then stop distracting me.”
Tempa nodded in understanding and turned away to fly off, but his skirt was tugged.
“Where are you going? Don’t go.”
“…Nurse Nurse Perma you’re so odd odd,” he said with a fond smile.
Perma just tugged him back to the ground and held his hand, leading him the main entrance of the Sky Hospital. Tempa smiled and intertwined their hands. 🩷🩵
