Hold Me Here

Work Text:

The silence now is vast and deep,
Where Nolan’s promises would sleep.
Two decades spun a tangled thread,
Now broken words inside my head.

He left the orbit, swift and far,
Beneath some unfamiliar star.
Just me and Mark to sweep the floor,
Where trust resided just before.

Poor Mark, his heart is cracked in two,
But Amber helps him see things through.
A steady hand, a gentle guide,
With someone true right by his side.

But what of me, the years unwind,
The pieces scattered in my mind.
The wine is warm, the hour late,
I sit with Olga, sealed by fate.

We share the glass, the story spills,
Across the kitchen window sills.
And in the lamplight, soft and low,
I finally see her beauty glow.

Olga, my friend, so long the same,
I look at her and speak the name.
My voice is thin, the question clear,
Who is there now to hold me here?
