Chapter Text
I: Last night I dreamt of Manderley
Ensemble: Walls that have fallen
And halls that are empty
And whispering specters of the past
Memories we hushed and tried to forget
All coming back at last
I: And the moon shines bright
And the lilacs bloom
With their wistful poignet scent
I still hear the sea
I still sense its gloom
I reflect without lament
Last night I dreamt of Manderley
Over the roaring sea
Our dark ordeal of yesterday
And the love that set me free
I could feel her ghost always watching me
Like a spector in the night
She had tried her best
Fought with all her might
But I rose to do what’s right!
All: Our lives return to yesterday
We sail now across the sea.
Last night I dreamt of Manderley
And the love which set me free.
I: I was only 21,
When it all began,
In the lobby of a grand hotel,
April 24th, 1926
In Monte Carlo…
