Work Text:

Despite everything, I found you

They had been separated for a long while. Too long aa while.

Kix having disappeared on a seemingly regular mission only to be never heard of again. Listed Missing in action in the end as there was no trace to be found of the Medic Trooper.

Jesse, supposedly killed during Order 66, when the ship went down and yet somehow, he had survived the ordeal, digging himself out from the remains of the burning vessel.

Jesse, having gone AWOL, living off the grid having mourned Kix. But unbeknownst to Jesse, Kix in turn having mourned his long since dead partner, having been defrosted sometime in the future he had been revived in. Found in a discarded facility.

It was all such a waste, for them both, the deaths, unreal, the could have beens.

All the at time having passed by the two former lovers. A war, an evil Empire, the other clones, most of them gone… Well, it was out of the blue after Kix’s own resurrection he landed on a bit of an intel causing him plenty of heart palpitation in the process. The medic having thought he was the last of the clones, now living in the future for them all.

How wrong Kix had been.

And so, little did either of them know, they would meet, again. As if it was always meant to be…

Kix was eagerly waiting only to land. The small shuttle having been in flight for a few rotations by now and Kix was most certainly eager to get to the coordinates where he was sure to find something … something very big. Something from the past, laying dormant there. Only waiting to be found.

Or then it was all a hoax. A joke made in Kix’s expense. Bad intel from someone in need of earning a few credits.

Either way, this would conclude the long and arduous search having started a few years back after Kix had gotten his hands on some very old files in regards of his kind. The clones.

And being the ever optimist he was, Kix had dared to hope. That perhaps he would find something there, something more, something alive. Someone he knew or at least, of kin.

The destination finally ahead, Kix landed the ship.

Walking the short distance through the thick undergrowth of the now desolate planet and then finding the entrance to the abandoned facility easily enough.

The power was still on, thankfully, as Kix proceeded through the dusty corridors of the eerie place. His scanner suddenly going haywire while he did his scans. Kix’s heart in his throat as he dared to hope of what he would find at the end of the long walk.

Entering  the last of the rooms, a large space, the lights dim but Kix managing to turn them on to have a better look around. Hacking into the computers was easy enough and then what Kix found in the manifest… his eyes growing wide as he read it.

Next step, to hit the release button of the containers there. And soon, the much awaited revelation behind the hidden panel, was coming to view, the tubes filled with liquid and something else… someone else.

Pay dirt! The intel had been right after all.

Kix was looking intently, searching for that one specific number among so many familiar ones present there.

And there it was, right in front of his weary eyes.

“I can’t believe it…”  Escaping his lips like a whisper.

Kix was making fast of the commands on the panel, the pod releasing is liquid and then, the occupant.

Falling into his waiting arms, the man he had always loved, finally found.

“Jesse… your here!”

Jesse opened his eyes after a moment, confused true, but recognition settling in.

“Kix… It’s really you?”

“Yeah love, it’s me.”

Their gazes connecting. The love still there after all this time having passed by without the other. Guess they could really be alright again. Together, in this new time despite everything.

After all, it was writ in the stars, two lovers never apart.
