Happily ever after, us two
They were all watching the couple standing at the makeshift altar.
The two having finally admitted not just to themselves, but the the other as well, the love shared between them was real. Something the rest of them, their friends and family had apparently known all along. And so here they were, swearing to it all in front of the rest of the Galaxy (sort of).
Their sacred wows.
The Medic and the ARC.
As this was truly the best and most smart thing to do. Making it official for the Galaxy to know.
No stepping back now, no walking away. Not that either of them wanted to do so either. There was no longer time to hesitate, no more jitters to feel, no sudden feelings of cold feet.
Not since the several thoughts shared in the shadows just for the two of them. Those of whether this was the right thing to do or not. To get hitched to each other and possibly for good. But no matter all those things, Jesse and Kix had managed to talk about all of it. With each other, the assurances then having been made and right now, those promises to be kept.
This, was it!
And so, the ceremony was about to begin. Their commanding officers officiating as per agreed. Or rather, as per requested by the two. Commander Cody and Captain Rex. The couple themselves they be being only too happy to seal the deal as it were for these two troopers oh so very much in love.
As life certainly never easy for any of them and finding love was to be cherished, no matter what form it just might have taken.
The crowd was settled, the murmurs having died down as soon as Commander Cody cleared his throat. Addressing the duo about to get married. The two standing somewhat nervous looking in front of the Commander. After all, it was expected.
Cody only being reminded of his own special day, the myriad of feelings flushing through him as he looked at the younger clones about to take the plunge. A quick glance at Rex, an assuring smile from his spouse was all Cody needed to open the ceremony. The speech prepared fresh in his mind as he started with his duty.
“Troopers, friends and family. I have been given the honour together with Rex here on this fine day to lead these two fine men, my friends, my family, to be bonded, for life we can hope, however long that might just be.”
Soft smile emerged on the comment just then, assuring ones at that.
The wedding party was silently eating up ever single word spoken by their two leaders. Especially when the turn for the two grooms came to declare their vows there in front of them all.
Jesse felt the jitters again, his sweaty palms finding Kix’s equally moist ones, holding them in his own. Kix had a soft smile on him as their eyes locked mouthing something to the nervous Jessie.
‘It’ll be alright love.’
And so nodding only, Jesse took a deep breath and with that simple gesture, the words were coming back to him. Those of what he wanted to say to his love.
“… and guess, I knew at that very moment, there was no one else I wanted to spend my life with, but you, my precious, beloved Kix.”
Jesse’s eyes had started to water, his voice shaking just a little… The sentiment catching on with Kix as well, him trying to contain his own tears hoping not to be blubbering by the time it was his turn to speak.
“Guess, it’s just the feeling I had and when you said yes to my proposal, well… you made me the happiest man in the whole Galaxy.”
Kix felt his tears falling now, chocking as the words of his partner had totally gotten under his skin in a very good way.
There was a long moment of silence after Jesse had finished, Rex leaning in to Kix.
“Do you need a moment?”
Kix sniffled, picked up his tissue from his pocket wiping off the errant tears and with a somewhat broken tone, responded.
“I am good, thanks.”
Feeling the squeeze of Jesse’s hand, their eyes locked again. The assuring smile finding Kix, he managed to clear his throat and then started.
“I may be more emotional than expected…”
There was a collective soft chuckle from the crowd as surely, they all shared the sentiment of their friends. Not a dry eye in the party that much was true.
Kix glanced at the crowd, seeing the warm faces looking right back at him. Finding all the courage he needed to continue as these were no strangers there, no, these were his family and so… with a hint of a smile as Kix turned back to his partner.
“I guess I have to confess I had a crush on you long before we became friends and then more… and you my darling dear, make me smile each and every day and I could not be more lucky to call you mine…”
There were a few soft ohs and ahs heard as Kix spoke the words.
The vows being made, Cody and Rex together delivered the final words to end the ceremony.
“I could not be more happy than to have been given the privilege together with my own partner, to welcome Jesse and Kix to the union of partnership. May it last as long as you both shall live!”
Cody was positively beaming, as was Rex, the two sharing a very special bond of their own.
“…I give you our newly bonded couple… please cheer for Jesse and Kix!”
There were the traditional three hip hip hoorays from the crowd heard as the newly hitched couple turned towards the others there. Being cheered and celebrated for their union was truly heartwarming.
Jesse grabbed Kix to his arms, the deep loving kiss shared to celebrate their love, their union in front of their friends and family.
As the two then walked towards the exit, an honour guard having formed along the way. Jesse and Kix were all grins, happy and elated in the moment and whirlwind of the love shared by all.
Leaning into his partner, whispering close to his ear for only him to hear, not that it was a secret ,anymore, they were a couple now.
“I love you, Kix.”
“And I love you, Jesse.”
