Work Text:
The doorbell rings while Lucy is making coffee. Tim is in the shower, and she figures it’s just a delivery of some sort. She walks over to the door, and unlocks it. She opens the door only to come face to face with Genny. She’s holding a white box and raises her eyebrows when she sees Lucy.
“Hey.” Lucy says stepping aside to let her in. “Tim is in the shower.”
“I brought donuts.” Genny says. She hands the box to Lucy, and she takes it. She carries it to the kitchen and puts it down on the counter.
“Coffee?” She asks. “I just made some.” Genny nods and Lucy turns around to finish up. She pours some into a mug and then carries it over to Genny.
“So you and Tim—” Genny says and she’s grinning big. “Is it safe to say my brother is not single anymore?”
“He’s definitely not single.” Lucy confirms. Genny nods and takes a sip of the coffee. Lucy opens the donut box and takes one out.
“When did this happen?” Genny asks. “When did my brother get his head out of his ass?” Lucy snorts a little.
“About a week ago.” Lucy says and she can hardly believe it’s been a week. A week since Tim asked her to move. A week since he promised to be a better communicator and a week since she moved in.
(It has been a busy but very glorious week).
“Oh.” Genny says. “You guys must have been busy. He usually fills me in.” Lucy bites the inside of her cheek. Other than moving Lucy in and having to go to work. They had spent a lot of their time in bed. They spent a lot of time wrapped up in one another.
“I guess we were.” Lucy says. “A lot has happened. And if Tim would get out of the shower—”
“He has always taken long showers.” Genny says. “It drove me insane.” Lucy laughs and opens her mouth to reply when she hears footsteps. Tim appears in the living room and doesn’t notice his sister at first. He’s luckily dressed and his hair is still wet from the shower.
“Hey Luce—” He pauses his eyes going from Lucy to Genny. “Genny.”
“Tim.” Genny says smirking. “You have a lot to catch me up on.” Tim rolls his eyes and walks over to Lucy. He presses a kiss to her cheek just like he did when they woke up this morning.
“Do I?” Tim asks. “I’m sure you have figured it out.” Genny just shakes her head as Lucy walks over to get Tim’s coffee ready.
Lucy walks the coffee over to Tim and he takes it from her and then holds her in place. “Just tell her Tim.” Lucy says leaning into him. She feels Tim’s hand go up her shirt and she leans into it. She loves his hands, they are warm and big. They are comforting when they need to be and the things he can do with them—
“Lucy moved in with me.” He says. Genny raises an eyebrow, she’s grinning like she already knew this.
“And?” Genny presses him. Lucy laughs and looks at Tim who is frowning a little.
“And what?” Tim asks. “We are back together—”
“He’s Watch Commander now.” Lucy blurts out. She can’t help it, she’s so proud of Tim. Grey told him (and Lucy heard because he happened to call when Lucy was right next to Tim) that he was the first and only one he thought of. After everything that happened, and Tim getting demoted and kicked out of metro. It made Lucy proud to realize how far Tim had come. How much he had grown to earn not only her trust back but Grey’s.
“Really?” Genny asks looking at Tim, she’s still smiling but her face has softened a little. “That’s great.”
“It’s not a big deal.” Tim says. He runs his hand up and down her back like he’s trying to stabilize himself. “It’s just—”
“Oh come on Tim.” Genny says. “It is a big deal. Don’t sell yourself short.”
“That’s what I keep telling him.” Lucy says and she moves away from him. Tim protests reaching out his hands and then dropping them. “But he doesn’t listen to me.” Tim rolls his eyes a little. She’s probably going to pay for that later but she doesn’t mind. She craves when Tim puts his hands all over her body.
“Of course he doesn’t.” Genny says and she’s grinning as Lucy goes over to stand next to her. “He doesn’t like to brag.”
Lucy gives Tim a grin as he walks over to grab a donut. “Why are you always bringing over the sugary food?”
“Because you need to lighten up a bit.” Genny says her voice a little teasing. “Lucy hasn’t gotten you all soft?”
Tim looks over his shoulder, and it’s a look that only she sees. It’s soft and sweet. It’s the Tim she fell in love with all over again. “I’m not soft.” He grumbles turning back to his sister who just shakes her head at him. Lucy watches as Tim takes a bite of the donut, and his shoulders relax a little.
He only showed his soft side to a few people if that. He showed it to Lucy in the privacy of the bedroom. And she loves that she gets to see that side of Tim.
“Sure.” Genny says. “I see you have more candles.” Tim pauses and looks around the room. There are a lot of candles, and that was Lucy’s fault. She had a problem. She would buy a few and then put them away and forget about them. And then buy more. She had no idea how many she had until she packed up.
“That’s Lucy.” Tim says. “She brought all the candles over.” Lucy hums softly, because that wasn’t exactly true. She found some candles in the cabinets while she was unpacking.
“Most of them.” Lucy agrees. “There’s a few that were already here.” Genny shoots Tim a look and he groans a little.
“You both need to stop ganging up on me.” Tim says although there’s a small smile on his face.
“I haven’t lived with Tim for a long time.” Genny says. “But even as a kid—everything was perfect. His bed, his clothes.”
“He still does that.” Lucy says and even in the short time she had been living with Tim she had to remember to not just throw her clothes on the ground. Although the first night, neither of them even bothered to put anything away.
“I like to be neat.” Tim says. “It’s not a big deal.” Lucy walks over to him and he pulls her in again.
“It’s cute.” Lucy says looking up at him. “Keeps me on track.” Tim gives her a look but it’s soft still.
“Well.” Genny says and she stands up and takes a sip of her coffee. “I had to go but—I’m happy for you both.” Tim takes Lucy’s hand and they follow Genny to the door. She opens it and then turns to face them. She looks at Lucy, and this time she doesn’t look teasing.
“Thank you for making my brother happy.” She says. Lucy feels herself flush a little, and really it’s Tim that makes her happy. She is the happiest that she has been in a long time.
“And you.” Genny says turning to look at Tim. “Don’t mess it up again.” Tim opens his mouth to reply but Genny walks out the door without another word. Tim goes to shut the door and then he turns to Lucy.
“Sorry about her.” Tim says. “I haven’t talked to her—” Lucy steps closer to him and pulls him in for a kiss.
“It’s okay.” She says. “It’s fun teasing you. I can’t do it alone all the time.”
“Funny.” He says. “Now have you had enough donuts?” Lucy raises her eyebrows at him.
“What?”
Tim doesn’t reply just turns her around and walks her towards the bedroom. “You need the fuel.” He says. “For my plans.”
Oh.
“I’m good.” She says as they get to the bedroom door. “For a little bit.”
“Good.” Tim says and he backs her into the bedroom and kicks the door shut. “Very good.”
It is very good indeed.
