Chapter 1: Their fated meeting

Chapter Text

That morning chance woke up with a bad start. Spade also seemed awfully moody for such a spoilt rabbit. Everything just felt off- and that's when it happened. Spade refused to eat.. that was.. weird.

So the obvious thing to do was to rush in a panic to his vet. Chance, having access to the finer things in life- could afford better health care for his little friend than most- which is why this exclusive clinic immediately got to work to finding out what was wrong with his little void of fluff.

Unbeknownst to the other, another with a very similar problem had approached that very same clinic, towering over every other person around- coat blowing out behind him like a paid actor- shadows falling just right over his face from the beautiful fedora he wore, as he hurried along inside- in his arms a seemingly fine bunny rested, cute, fluffy and unbothered by his owners worry.

Sick with worry, the other approached the receptionist in a hurry. "Hes sick. Get me a doctor. This is of the upmost importance- it cannot wait."

"Im sorry sir all the vets are busy unfortunately youll have to wait a bit" the receptionist answered the fellow being standing before them.

"What do you mean all the veterinarians are busy???"

Chance couldn't help but listen in on this encounter.. they understood the sentiment as deeply as if it were his own pain- but they had more pressing matters to attend to- Spade. Finally the vet came out, carrying a content Spade- ( they gave him treats ) and turned to his owner- still in his pyjamas from how fast he bolted out the door. Anything for his little bud.

"It seems spade is just stressed." The vet said, face straight like it was the most natural thing in the world.

"STRESSED??" the other exclaimed- perplexed by the idea of the tiny ball of fluff being anything but happy "From what?? What do you mean stressed- excuse me?? Not a shot- i got him a nutritionist- the food is great- he has more toys than i could count- no i refuse-"

"He's lonely. Some company could help relieve that stress i believe." The vet and straightened his coat, wrote off something onto his documents- very official of course- and started walking away.

"Am I not company enough??"

Chance started contemplating getting his little friend a little friend- holding onto Spade for dear life.

Spade however- didn't feel very inclined to stay in one spot as the little menace had jumped out and hopped his fluffy tail over to where a certain other no longer laid in his owners arms.

Before either owner could stop it- both rabbits were already getting very accustomed to one another.

"Spade! What the- " as they ran to catch their rabbit- they bumped into someone.. massive shoulders blocking his view of the two rabbits- "Hey- excuse me i got a bunny to catch over here!"

"You excuse me- your little beast is mauling my gubby!"

The rabbits were currently getting all up and cozy- gave each other two sniffs and already started playing around.

"W-wha- excuse me?? If anything your- your fluffy demon has probably taunted Spade!"

As they bickered and fought, the pair of rabbits ran off under some chairs, hiding together and thoroughly enjoying the chaos.

Soon the two would notice it also- their rabbits have gone missing.

"Wait... wheres spade and your rabbit?" Chance looked around- slightly out of breath from the very heated argument from earlier.

The mysterious figure also looked around- panic settling deep into both their hearts.

"Gubby- where the- theres no way that thing is better company than me!"

The two frantically searched- the tidy, clean clinic getting turned upside down in their efforts to find the pair of mischievous creatures of mayhem and dissaray.

Soon- the staff could no longer take it- "Get out- both of you! What in buildermans name is this ruckus?? This is a veterinary clinic not a playground for you two!"

"I am NOT leaving without spade!" Chance exclaimed- justifiably desiring to not abandon his spoilt little guy.

"Neither am i without gubby- this is outrageous." Chance's comapnion seemingly having the same thought.

It was the first time they agreed on something in the last half hour.it was justifiable how they cared for their pets- what was not justifiable was treating the staff and clinic in such way.

"They're under those chairs." The receptionist said- almost comically deadpan.

"...what?"

The pair gazed under said chairs- and there they were.. the reason for all this pandemonium in the poor clinic. Seemingly laughing at their owners distress- if they could anyway.

"..they do seem quite happy together don't they?.." Chance spoke up finally- after about a minute of stunned silence.

.. both of them forgot to check in the most obvious of spots in their panic.

"..they do" the other spoke up. Not meeting their new acquaintances eyes- diverting it to the now seemingly content rabbits.

"So.. what now?.. we cant just tear them apart- " Chance said- adjusting his hat and glasses that seemed to have all but stayed in place in the earlier seeking rush.

"..well.. i suppose they could stay friends." The towering figure turned to its new companion, gaze going from their face to the bunnies content forms.

"...soo whats your name? Mine's Chance." Chance spoke to the man now standing before him.

"Just because our rabbits are friends doesnt mean that so are we... and you may call me mafioso for now." The now not so mysterious figure handed chance a card- it had a phone number on it and all.

"Right.. well we'll talk later to arrange a play date for those two?" Chance finally managed to pick up the rabbit and put the sad little thing in its luxurious carryon- sad for having to leave without his new bff. Walking away- pj's fluttering in the wind as he opened the door almost as beautifull as the overwhelmingly lavish coat of the other- who stayed behind to pay in cash- chance already having paid with their card.

As chance got in their car he couldn't help but wonder about the new addition into his life- new must mean exciting- and this gambler liked to think he knew a thing or two about exciting. But this one seemed a different type of exciting. They truly couldn't tell where this would go- but we all knew the unknown just got him more excited for the future.

"..well problen solved spade.. guess i wont be gettin' another rabbit today" the pair drove off- spade busy munching away at some vegetables Chance brought along- for telamon forbid HIS bunny went hungry.

That night- with spade tucked in- the gambler went to do what he was most known for- well.. gamble!

Chance had gotten themselves dressed and ready- usual white and red suit on- lucky hat firmly ontop of his head, they seemed ready. Grabbing their keys and wallet they hurried out and onto the very familiar path towards his favourite place.

At the casino, waiting for him at their regular table sat the blond, seemingly bored even with the exilerating energy of the casino. Approached by the eager gambler, the other could only look up- let the performance begin once again..

"Itrapped! Good to see ya- want to play a game of pocker to start our night? Come on it will be fun man." The genuine smile on the others face was almost sickeningly fond as they sat across from their waiting companion.

"You will not believe what happened today!" And then they started flapping their jaws.. information going into one ear and flying out the other as itrappeds goal remained firmly planted into his head..

That key.

He needed that key.. if only the bastard could talk about anything other than that infuriating excuse of a bunny.

But he pretended to keep listening.. the time would come. Patience was all he needed.
