Pangi took the stairs one at a time, glancing back every few steps like he was afraid Zam would disappear. “Trust me,” he said, breathless but so so excited, pushing open the last door. Cool night air rushed in at once. Zam stopped just behind him, her hand still sat on the railing, she hadn’t realized the sky could look like that, so gorgeously wide and dark and scattered with stars she’d never bothered to notice before. For a moment, she forgot to move, forgot what they were even doing there, standing quietly while the city hummed far below them. Pangi had been taking Zam around the city all day, they had just finished in a donuts shop. Pangi had gotten Zam her favorite, Zam appreciated him so much. Pangi's heart thumped in his chest, he tried to keep his movements calm and confident, but even with the cool night air his skin felt warm.
Pangi reached out his left hand, Zam broke out of her awe of the moment, glancing towards Pangi's hand and reaching out her own, taking the silent offer and holding his hand. Pangi had a small smile on his face. Their fingers wrapped together, Pangi stepped up onto the building roof first, Zam following right behind. They walked together, Pangi had prepared because two fold up chairs sat. They were abit ugly and Zam found it silly compared to the gorgeous sky, but she didn't mind. Pangi led them over and helped Zam sit in her chair, earning a small giggle from her. She sounded so beautiful to Pangi, her amusement made Pangi's cheeks feel hot. He knew he was blushing but the darkness of night hid it. Zam was too focused on the sky to notice anyways, Pangi quietly scooted his chair closer to Zam. Pangi tried to look at the stars with Zam, but he couldn't help his gaze from landing on Zam's gorgeous features. Her hair was such a beautiful yellow, almost curly at the tips. Tucked into a French braid that draped down her back. Her eyes glimmered a dark brown. How could Pangi not stare? It was impossible with a woman like Zam.
Pangi took a deep breath in, ignoring the nervousness in his mind. His voice broke the silence that had been sitting between them. "Uh- Zam i-. Did you have a good day today?" Fear was clear in Pangi's voice as his tone wavered, his voice trembled abit even when he tried to hide it. He wanted to speak up, he wanted to tell her how much he loved her. But it was so much easier said then done, it was scary. What if it ruined how Zam thought about him? They were such good friends, what if Zam hated him-? What if Zam didn't like him back, even worse what if he made Zam uncomfortable? Voices of what if after what if rang through his mind. His thoughts were silently overtaking his mind as his vision unfocused from Zam to stare at the floor. He was so fucking nervous, he felt so hot even as a cold regret of ever bringing Zam up here ran through his flesh like water- this felt so horrible! He should have never done this god- "Pangi?" Zam's voice cut through his overthinking. Pangi blinked, his gaze snapping to Zam. She looked abit concerned as she spoke out again, her voice was so pretty. "What's wrong?" Zam shifted in her chair, standing up and taking Pangi's hand to help him stand. Pangi swallowed hard as he was face to face with her, forced to keep the eye contact they held. They were friends, of course Zam could tell when Pangi wasn't alright.
Zam's eyes searched Pangi's, Pangi's gaze flickered over hers before he lowered his head slightly. Taking a deep breath, his chest rising and falling as he soothed his thoughts. He didn't realize but Zam had taken both his hands, Pangi didn't realize how close they were either. Pangi's gaze looked over the cemented ground as if searching for the confidence to speak up, and he found atleast enough to reply. "I'm fine Zam, I'm just not very focused. I really wanted to bring you up here for something." Pangi surprised himself with how stable his voice was, Zam's thumb rubbed circles in his palms and it most definitely helped. Pangi hadn't looked back up yet but he could feel Zam's gaze on him. Pangi had done everything today for this, he had so much fun today with his friend. And Zam definitely did too, Pangi thought he would be ready for this. He had to be ready for this, Pangi's voice rung out in a blurt, his words close together in a swift sentence. "Zam i- I like you alot! No. Zam I love you so much I don't know if you feel the same way but please don't hate me if you don't I can't handle another day looking at you without telling you how I feel-!" Pangi tensed up, he was prepared for rejection. Zam's motion on his palm stopped, which didn't help with Pangi's fear. Pangi bit his tongue afraid of saying something else in the silence.
After a few moments the silence grew more insufferable for Pangi and he was ready to speak up, to tell Zam it was a joke, anything to keep her from leaving him. But a small, amused snicker sliced through the silence. It didn't sound mean or judged as it grew into a giggle, Pangi in confusion glanced up. Zam had the biggest shit eating grin on her face, Pangi felt a hot embarrassment rush through his face. Zam removed one hand from Pangi's reaching up and cupping Pangi's face, making his heart race harder than it had before. Pangi thought he might pass out. Pangi blinked in confusion, Zam spoke up tilting her head to the side slightly. "Oh Pangi you- you think I didn't know?" Her tone was filled with amusement as she bit back another laugh. Pangi thought to himself, he hadn't made it that obvious had he? Before Pangi could think much further, he heard Zam step forwards, so close to Pangi. He felt a soft warmth press against his lips, Pangi felt frozen but instinctively wrapped a hand around Zam's waist. Pangi closed his eyes with Zam and leaned into the kiss. After a moment Zam pulled back from the kiss, sliding her hand from Pangi's cheek to tilt his chin up slightly with one finger, Pangi was absolutely swooning. Admiring the taste in his mouth knowing it came from such a beautiful lady like her. Zam stared into Pangi's eyes, finding all of this abit funny. "Trust me sweetie, you're not a very discreet person." Even though her tone had clear mocking undertones Pangi didn't care much, the nickname made Pangi feel weak in the knees. Even though he now knew that Zam felt the same, Pangi felt embarrassed to be this close to her. Zam was clearly the more confident one out of them for things like this, but Pangi spoke up. "Zam will you, be my girlfriend?" The words felt so odd coming out of his mouth, on the other hand excitement ran through his body. Her smile was so pretty, Pangi now knew she was wearing lip gloss from the taste it had left. Zam gave a small nod, "of course Pangi." Her agreement felt like a weight lifted off Pangi's back.
