Chapter 1: Papa

Chapter Text

Another day.

Another day of learning words in secret.

Another day of pressuring tests.

Another day that Papa or Dr. Brenner (or whatever his name was) controlled.

She hated it.

It made her head hurt, every time she had to shorten her vocabulary because Dr. Brenner was talking to her, every time she had to go into that horrible black void, every time she had to repeat those words in the other room.

“Flower.”

“Waterfall.”

“Car.”

“Shark.”

“Wood.”

She didn't even know what those meant.

Eleven was a frail looking little girl, almond skin, shaved dark brown hair, and a white hospital gown with small flowers on it.

Despite Eleven's looks, she had a bit of a bite to her due to the amount of stress that she was going through day to day.

Or at least, that was what she felt like, she wasn't sure it was that serious because Papa and the scientists didn't treat it like it was doing any harm, they just treated it like the stress was a part of the routine.

The LED lights buzzed above Eleven, she laid on her bed covered by her blankets, hugging her stuffed lion, Dr. Snuffles, a word she made up, that word made her happy.

But nevertheless, she was frustrated, it was about nine in the morning, at least that's what she thought, Papa always comes at eight in the morning, she saw it on his watch.

“Late… He's late… Great..” Eleven muttered angrily.

If he was gonna put her through more tests today, at least make it quick.

Knock knock

Oh now he's here.

Papa, a tall, fit man, grey hair, wrinkles, almond skin, a black clean suit, black dress shoes, and a watch Eleven used to tell the time.

“Good morning Eleven…” Brenner chirped with rehearsed kindness.

Eleven rolled over and sat up on her bed, and the blanket fell to her lap.

“Papa.” Eleven muttered softly, changing her face to a more innocent look.

Brenner sat on the edge of her bed.

“We’re gonna have to do more tests today.” Brenner stated.

Eleven’s eyebrows furrowed and she groaned, of course.

“Dont worry, it's not gonna be the tank, it's just gonna be the words again.” Brenner added.

“Yes…” Eleven stated.

====================

Eleven sat at a white table with Brenner by her side.

“Frog...” Eleven repeated.

Why did she have to do this?

“Paper…”

She already did this before.

“Keyboard…”

They knew what she was capable of!

“View…”

She needed to get out.

Eleven squeezed her eyes shut and tried to control her anger.

But, about two seconds later, it got out.

It was a loud and guttural scream, "GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" it shook the walls and floors, glass broke and from behind her, a small bud sprouted.

She went silent, she breathed heavily and looked back at Brenner.

His mouth was agape at the sudden sprout on the wall, it was a small black bud with blue roots that were fastly growing.

Brenner grabbed his walkie talkie and spoke into it. “Th- There's a uh- plant? In experiment room two…”

The roots were growing to the door of the room, the roots opened it.

It was Eleven’s chance.

She ran out of the room with great haste, sprinting to the exit of the hallway.

She got into a room with buttons, she pressed the one that was on the bottom.

Multiple guards were charging towards her, but the doors to the room closed before they could catch up.

The room started moving.

Why was it moving?

How was it moving?

She arrived on the bottom floor of the lab.

Multiple people tried to catch her, she quickly tried to defend herself but one of the plant's tendrils swooped down and knocked them over and then smashed they're heads in with a wet and bloody splatter.

She didn’t know it could do that, but it didn’t matter right now, she needed to get out.

Eleven rushed out the door before they could close it.

Outside she saw a small divot in the ground under a chain fence.

The divot was small but not too small for her size.

She ducked into the chain fence, crawling under it like a stray cat.

One of the metal wires cut off a piece of medical gown and skin from her back.

“Ow!” Eleven yelped.

She emerged from the divot to the other side of the fence.

As soon as she got to her feet she bolted into the forest in front of her.
