Summary
The battlefield was quieting. Smoke and the tang of metal hung heavy in the air. The clang of steel gave way to the groans of the dying, the celebration of the victorious.
Nesta staggered through the wreckage, blood drying sticky, her lungs raw with each pull. The battle was over. The war was won.
Her duty was complete. The Valkyries were safe, their fallen recovered, their injured with healers. And now it was time for her to find her mate. She knew he lived still, but the bond would not settle until she saw him, felt him, for herself.
