Chapter 1: Prologue - A Problem

Chapter Text

Alastor has a problem. In his living breathing human years he was different. Yes, he was a vengeful, ritualistic, cannibal serial killer but that was more of a hobby than a problem. No, he was different in the sense that he hated other people and their need to be touched and bond with others.

Any affection with intentions that extended beyond a friendly hand shake absolutely abhorred him. He knew he was better than the low life’s that surrounded him. The miscreants that only sought after their own pleasures, whether that was in the form of carnal pleasures of the flesh, addictive substances or whatever vice took one’s fancy.

Alastor hated it all. He hated everyone to some degree. Their need to touch and bond with others. Of course, there were those he tolerated more than others, but they were far and few between. This attitude, his well-earned sense of superiority followed him into his afterlife.

Now known as the overlord by the name of The Radio Demon he never once questioned his minimal interest in others. His hatred and disgust in the things that came so naturally to others wasn’t a problem because he was better than them, above such needs to be touched and bond.

Alastor has a problem, that problems name is Lucifer Morningstar and the desires he’s stirred within him, a being who has never felt a modicum of interest in another before but now whose thoughts are consumed by an angel.

Lucifer has a problem. He may be the King of hell, one of the original seraphim’s and the first fallen angel but he has a lot of things going on.

His wife, Lilith, the woman he fell from grace for and sacrificed his connection to everything and everyone he had ever known, has disappeared. Vanished from the plains of Hell, unable to be found even in the furthest reaches of each of Hell’s rings. Lucifer would know, when he wasn’t bound to his bed for weeks on end in a depressive slump he looked for her everywhere.

His daughter, the beautiful Charlie and honestly the only light left in his bleak existence was reconnecting with him. Yay. But she never seemed to actually see him or hear him. No matter how he tried to connect with her or communicate with her, even going so far as to move into her hotel, they just don’t click the way he’s dreamed of since Lilith whisked her away.

His mental health is an absolute roller-coaster. Erratic mood swings and depressive episodes resulting in prolonged bed rotting. Along with his wife he hasn’t seen any of his friends in the deadly sins over the last seven years. Though he can admit that’s on him. Honestly the only consistent thing in his life is Alastor.

They banter, trade insults and find new creative ways to slight each other. Lucifer knows he can rely on Alastor to keep him grounded in their weird, bizarre frenemy relationship.

Lucifer has a problem, and that problems name is Alastor and his change in behaviour that has Lucifer thrown for a loop and disrupted the one thing he can rely on in the Hell that is his existence.
