“When things get ugly, burn it all away”
Jiang Yanli opens the window of her small home in a town in Yunmeng. She glances backwards to look at her sleeping husband and son. She walks into the other room to start breakfast.
As she's in the middle of making breakfast, she hears the sound of Jin Zixuan waking up.
“Good morning, A-Xuan!”
“.........ah….A-Li…?”
She walks into the room to see her husband realize that he’s been tied up.
“Don't worry, A-Xuan. It's going to be okay. Here let me help you.”
She unties Jin Zixuan and helps him sit.
“...what happened…?”
She sits next to him and scoops up almost 1 month old Jin Ling.
“I couldn't let them hurt you, A-Xuan.”
“Hurt me? What are you talking about? Who is trying to hurt me?”
“I had several days of nightmares of someone in your family just killing you over and over again.”
Jin Zixuan reaches out and places a hand on Jiang Yanli’s shoulder. He opens his mouth to say something, but doesn't know what to say.
“A-Li, I- …how can I help around here?”
Jiang Yanli gets up and hands him Jin Ling.
“Here, you can hold A-Ling and watch me cook.”
Once Jiang Yanli walks into the kitchen, she smiles. Yes, she's going to change her family's fate.
