Meet Me When The Eclipse Begins

Summary:

"How poetic of you, Chuuya~ I'd be ecstatic if I was a moon!" Dazai stated, smiling up at Chuuya, pinching his cheeks.

"Yeah, yeah. What about me? What would I be?" Chuuya ask curiosly, cupping Dazai's cheeks softly.

Dazai leaned even more into the touch, caressing it. "Well... If I was the moon, then, would you be my sun?"

Work Text:

"You look stupid in that suit." Chuuya said with a smirk on his face. The music was ringing in his hear as he took a small sip from his wine.

"Oh? Are you saying that I look good any other day? I'm flattered." Dazai retorted, grabbing the cup from Chuuya and chugging it down. Dazai didn't want Chuuya to get wasted, he will really need some company tonight

"No, like, you look extra stupid in that suit." Chuuya replied, snatching the cup and setting it down at a random table. They both knew what Chuuya said was a lie. Some words, don't need to be spoken though.

It was late it night, roughly 1 or 2 AM according to Dazai. The Mafia was having a luxuious celebration for their latest win against a huge rivalry organization. Mori, feeling like a good person for once, decided to throw a party at a huge ballroom to celebrate. With large buffets, entertaining musicians, chandeliers hanging in every corner of the room, Dazai couldn't deny that the layout was fabulous. He and Chuuya couldn't resist grabbing one or two plates of the fettucine, cooked by a Michelin Star Chef. Overall, the party was fantastic.

But like any other sane teenager, the two boys got bored quickly. They tried the whole sushi bar, played truth or dare with people they don't even know, sabotaged the song system, and even did some karaoke in front of everyone. Needless to say, they were bored.

Eventually, they both escaped. The brunette boy had managed to find an unlocked at the corner of the ballroom. He squished through and quickly helped Chuuya. They both didn't want a lecture from Mori right now.

"Heh, I knew you would be able to go through considering how small you are." Dazai teased. He could feel Chuuya's anger radiating from behind him as they walked.

"Shut the fuck up! I am not that small, damn it!" Chuuya replied angrily. He punched Dazai lightly in the back, with no intention of actually hurting him.

"Ow! Whatever you say, Chibi~" Dazai said, to which Chuuya scoffed in returned.

The moonlight in the sky felt almost unreal. The soft glow iluminated the road as they walked, casting a cold and hazy aura around them. Dazai looked at Chuuya. He was wearing a dark green suit, a red tie and black pants, which perfectly complimented his color combination. His hair was quite messy, but still presentable enough. The concealer covering his freckles was already worn out, revealing the mini constellations on his cheeks. Chuuya looked ethereal.

Chuuya turned suspiciously at the brunette with furrowed eyebrows, as the taller boy looked away from him. They continued their walk with no further bicker or chatter.

Eventually, they arrived at the beach and sat next to eachother. Dazai felt himself release a breath he didn't know he was holding. The calming sound of waves crashing, the shuffles of sand, the birds chirping in the distance all brought him back to reality when he was floating in a world that didn't exist. The beach was like home to Dazai, a calm place to let go of everything and be himself.

It was a place of silence. No gunshots, no blood, no yelling, no commandments, no army, nothing. The beach was his chance to breath, his chance to feel human and alive. It was his chance to feel like a teenager. His chance to feel like a 16 year old, not a demon. And he savored every second of it.

He glanced at the ginger beside him. Chuuya had always been like a reflection of the beach. Not just physically, but mentally. His eyes were the dangerous blue waves, always radiating with a spark. His hair was the land, warm and welcoming, keeping the land together. And lastly, his freckles were the sand, shuffling and clustering, a proof of his humanity. Everytime, every minute, every second he spent at the beach always brought him back to Chuuya. They were both his home, his safe place.

Eventually, Dazai turned his back to Chuuya and slowly laid down, resting his head on Chuuya's lap. The ginger made no sign of protest, just as exhausted as Dazai. Chuuya combed the brunette's hair, aiding the tangles in it. Dazai naturally leaned into the touch, to which Chuuya smiled softly.

The brunette boy opened his eyes once again, looking up at the sky, full with stars and sparkles. It looked like thousands of angels gathered and decided to make shapes in the sky. The moon was silently lurking at the corner, watching the dance of the stars. Dazai cherished every moment of it.

"Chuuya?" Dazai called. He always knew someone would answer. The someone with a fiery personality. The someone with a loyal nature. The someone who would die for a stranger. The someone who is Chuuya. Dazai always knew Chuuya would be there, to answer him.

"Yes?" Chuuya replied. The way Dazai said his name made his heart flutter, just a little bit.

"If we were a part of the solar system, what would we be?" Dazai asked, to which Chuuya scoffed. Typical Chuuya behaviour, he knew it all to well. All to farmiliar.

"Heh, that's a dumb question." Chuuya said, half heartedly. They both knew he was going to answer it anyway. Dazai hummed in agreement, a signal for Chuuya to continue.

Chuuya brushed the hair out of the boy's ear, playing and toying with the strands as he looked up into the sky, searching for an answer.

"I don't really know what I would be, but I think you'd probably be a dead asteroid, cause all you do is slack off and play games." Dazai scoffed, rolling his eyes playfully. Chuuya continued, "If you want to feel important though, I think you'd suit being a moon. Sad, depressing, but always shines at the right time with the right people." Chuuya said, a blush creeping at his cheeks.

"Oh my God- Shut up!!" Chuuya yelled, looking away to hide his blush.

"You didn't answer me question~" Dazai teased, stroking Chuuya's hand. He looked up to admire the boy, staring at him lovingly.

"Of course- damn it, of course I will, Dazai!" Chuuya replied, blush growing redder as he punched Dazai lightly in the stomach. They both laughed, looking at the sky above.

"But, don't the sun and the moon never meet? Like, they only see each other at sunrise or sunset, where the horizon seperates the two of them." Chuuya said with a frown, looking back down at Dazai as he returned back to combing Dazai's hair, this time twisting it. Dazai hummed at the gesture.

The moon and the sun never met, always yearning for eachother during sunrise and sunset. So close, yet so far away.

"Maybe, but then we'll make every moment we meet special! We can see eachother during the eclipse, remember? The sky will turn dark and it'll just be you and me." Dazai replied, smiling.

It was that damn smile. The type of smile Chuuya was weak for. The smile that he fell in love with. The smile that he always admired. That. Damn. Smile. It was the type of smile that came so naturally, the side of Dazai only Chuuya got to experience. Chuuya loved it, making his heart flutter everytime he saw it.

"Gosh, you're such a fool for believing these kind of things." Chuuya teased

"Well, I'm a fool for you~" Dazai flirted. As expected, Chuuya was blushing badly, with Dazai laughing at him. Did he mean it? Of course. Was he still gonna use any chance he got to laugh at Chuuya? Of course!

"Shut it- oh my God! You're such a sap!" Chuuya stated, still embarrassed.

"I'll be anything you want me to be." Dazai flirted, once again. This time sitting back up facing chuuya, noses almost touching. Interestingly, Chuuya doubled down.

"Then, be the moon to my sun, okay?" Chuuya said, lifting Dazai's chin with two fingers. Dazai lightly blushed at this, quite shocked and flustered by the ginger's unusual bold actions.

"Gladly." Dazai replied, as he stared into Chuuya's roaring blue eyes.

"I love you, my moon." Chuuya said, smiling as he pressed a soft peck on his lips.

"I love you too, my dear beautiful sun~" Dazai replied, as they shared their kiss.

Maybe the beach doesn't need to only hold humanity, maybe it can hold love. Maybe it hold the moment where the sun and the moon meet. The sky dark, the stars sparkling, nobody watching. Just the two of them and the eclipse.
