Work Text:

It had been a long day at ROKEA for Lampert, and after a long day, there was nothing he looked forward to more than some quality time with his boyfriend. When he entered the elevator, he clicked the button for Kasper’s room, and as the elevator began to make its way to Lampert's lover, he couldn’t help but feel his bulb brighten with every second he came closer to his darling skater boy.

Once Lampert arrived in front of the apartment, he made as little noise as possible, so as to not disturb Poptart or anyone else that might be in the apartment.

Wait…where was Kasper?

The lamp swore that he’d checked every corner of the apartment, and with the exclusions of him and Poptart, there wasn't a soul present in the apartment. Perhaps Kasper had gone out? He might have had to buy groceries, or help out at the bowling alley, or any other other of the multitude of tasks someone like him might-

The lamp's train of thought was interrupted with him being pushed to the floor a very heavy thud, which was quite a feat considering the fact that he was made completely of metal, who could have pushed him though?

“Haha, I really got ya Lampy! Don’t you know to always check behind the doors? I heard the elevator ding and assumed it must be you, since not many other people come by…especially not at an hour like this.” Kasper paused to gently kiss his lover's lampshade, which was now ever so slightly glowing. “It’s…pretty rude to jump onto people like that, you scared me!”

As the two laid on the skater’s bed, simply existing in each other's embrace, Lampert felt himself glowing brighter and brighter, something that he had become quite self-conscious of lately, not wanting to inconvenience his lover, he had come prepared for this exact situation. “Hey Kas.” Lampert sat up and adjusted himself, feeling his bulb dim slightly, while his lover sat up with him, attempting to stay as close as possible.

“Is something up Lampy?” Lampert felt his bulb brighten slightly at the use of that nickname, he cherished it very dearly, with it being the first nickname he had ever been given. “Uh, it’s nothing much…I just brought you something to help while we cuddle…” Lampert handed the other man a silk eye cover, one that he found at ROKEA and had brought for Kasper.

“…Kasper? Do you not like it? If you’d prefer another design or maybe something else entirely, then I can-“ He was cut off by Kasper’s finger gently placed on his mouth.

“You do know that I don’t want this like…at all, right? I love you so much Lampy, but I don’t want to forcefully shut out one of the things that I love most about you. It makes you unique, and it’s beautiful.”

“Oh…I’m sorry, I thought that my light might inconvenience you or make it hard to nap if we’re cuddling…I know how bright my bulb can get, and I don’t want to be a bother to you…” The boy shifted, his bulb brightening yet again, this time from embarrassment. Lampert's lover motioned for him to return to his arms, where he belonged…and so he listened.

Had it been minutes? Hours? Neither of them had really known, never paying attention to the time while with each other, it wasn't like they were ever in any kind of rush anyways, they always made sure to clear their schedules as much as allowed so they’d never have to worry about ending their cuddle sessions early.

In-between kisses and promises that seemed to last forever, Lampert found himself reminiscing on the past year. He had never known that he could possibly be this happy at all, let alone with someone else. Kasper was the light of his life, showing Lampert that ROKEA was just one small corner of the world, and that life was so much more than those bland, boring days that would blur into one another. Kasper had shown the lamp that

Kasper has noticed his lovers wired tail wagging around like that of a puppy once its owner had returned home, and it reminded him of how dearly he held the man to his heart. Life had become almost bland before he discovered the man, standing by his lonesome in ROKEA, with nothing but the furniture and faceless employees to keep him company. They were similar, in a sense that they had given each other life once they had met.

Kasper was able to find joy in many things. The elevator was endlessly moving and would constantly take him to new places and introduce him to new people, he was almost never lonely, and even if he was simply at his apartment, he could play with Poptart, play games, smoke weed, or any other assortment of things. These things were all wonderful, but he had always felt like something was missing. He was happy, but not whole. He felt akin to a puzzle with many pieces, being nearly completed except for one singular piece in the middle. It wasn’t something that Kasper paid much attention to anyways, because why should he? After all, who would expect to find the love of their life, their finishing piece, the pizza to their pie, in ROKEA.
