In the blink of an eye, he was back. Back like nothing happened.
One second he was pulling on the rift as hard as he could, music playing from his screen to mask the terror he was feeling. The pain seared through him but he fought, knowing it’d all be over soon. And now he was opening his eyes in SMG4’s room. The bright lights burned his eyes, making him flinch. He gasped, falling back. The entire crew, plus a few he was less involved with, were standing there, watching him and-... WPNZ.

Having worked for UrbanShade for 4 years you felt secure in your position as on site medic on hadal, clearance level one. However, curiosity getting the better of you one night after your usual nightshift ended up getting you trapped under the needle and wrath of a doctor you used to look up to. It was either this or death, not like they really were so different.
Losing your life or slowly losing your humanity? At UrbanShade, it's the same thing. Not like they gave you the option, either.
However, even after a few years of making blacksite your hunting ground driven only of primal hunger alone you break from your instincts to realize you're not the only one. A shopkeeper, A Saboteur, A Familiar genetic code, kinship calls to you like a beacon of hope, How would you though? it's a little hard to navigate the hallways when you're built for water, and the constant fear of dwindling into some feral beast eating away at your soul, but you'll try. An encounter with the shopkeeper while scavenging for supper yields interesting results.
And feelings.(Implied intersex reader, masculine pronouns and voice for clarification.)

Puzzles is still facing the window with his back turned to them, when he cuts WPNZ off.
“I was planning on double-crossing the two of you, you know.”
His voice sounds distracted, or perhaps more accurately, detached. With a healthy hint of hysteria bubbling underneath that level, empty tone. WPNZ doesn’t react right away, merely stares at the turned back for a second or two. Once the words finally register properly in his brain though, he hastily turns towards Toomp, who looks back at him with equal measures of bafflement written in his big eyes.
or. The resident showman was clearly more than just a little bit conflicted on that fated crossroad. So, how about we give him a little helpful push in a different direction?
