Never Bike Alone

Summary:

How do you tell anyone a life altering secret? That your pale skin and sudden ‘love’ for staying indoors on sunny days wasn’t from the hours spent playing dungeons and dragons in your own basement. That it was more from the fact you’re a vampire, a literal straight out the Dracula myths, vampire. There’s nothing I could’ve done about it though!

Well sort of… first let’s rewind a bit to the day it started.

Notes:

First ever fanfic guys let’s hope the Ao3 curse isn’t real I’m highkey scared for my life 💔

Chapter 1: The beginning of my end

Chapter Text

Mike has been riding on his bike back to his house from the WSKQ, usually he would go with someone but Lucas, his sister, and his two parents were in the hospital and well max obviously, Will was stuck with Joyce and he didn’t really know Robin. So, here he was riding on his crappy bike he’s had since middle school trying to get home in the dead of night.

He had learned to expect a lot of things but a giant creepy looking bat flying straight toward him was not one of them. Mike had barely any time to realize what was happening and ended up swerving and crashing into the ground. Mike groaned and attempted to pick himself back up but he couldn’t before that thing attacked him.

Mike wrestled with it and it sunk its sharp fangs into his shoulder causing him to scream out in pain and tear the giant blood thirsty thing off of himself. It slammed hard into a tree and scurried off with an injured wing hopefully not coming back for round two.

With his uninjured arm he pushed himself back up and onto his bike, cycling back with only one hand was very difficult and took him double what it usually took. Mike abandoned his bike on his porch before walking into his home. The house was still destroyed but he needed something from his room desperately.

Mike momentarily stopped his search for the object to go into his bathroom and check the damage, after lifting his shirt off he could definitely see it was way worse than he thought.

There was a bite mark connecting to huge gashes on his shoulder, obviously from him ripping the bat off him but what concerned him more was the black substance that was contaminating his blood vessels.

“Holy shit… I’m turning into venom!”

Mike blurted out as soon as he saw the wound before realization finally set into his mind.

“I don’t even know what attacked me, was it from the upside down? Or was it just a regular flesh eating bat?”

Mike began questioning his situation but the longer he stood there pondering his new injury, his actual reason for being there was looming over his head.

“Shit, the painting.”

Mike rushed into his room which was less than clean and a total inconvenience to him trying to find something. With a smashed closet and his usual mess laying around he hoped to god he could find that painting.

He searched and searched till he finally found it, unscathed. He rolled the painting out, the painting that Will had made him and apparently El had commissioned.

He let out a deep sigh he didn’t realize he was holding in and rolled it back up nicely and gently placing it in his backpack.

‘I’ll worry about my bite mark later for now I need to get back to the squawk.’ Mike thought as he grabbed his stuff and left briskly out the ruined house. The ride back was far less eventful and he didn’t get attacked again, though the bike mark had started to sting incredibly bad and his whole arm was practically on fire.

But of course he ignored it, made sure his shirt and jacket covered the mark completely and no one saw. Once he stepped into the door he was greeted by Will who looked frantic, apparently he had taken way longer than he had thought and everyone in the building had thought he died.

“Will? You alright man? Why do you look so…”

“Worried? Yeah cause I am, you were gone for almost three hours Mike! You bike fast so why the hell did you take so long? You said you’d be quick!”

“Uh- well you see,”

Mike trailed off trying to put those DND skills to use in created a believable story.

“I got side tracked at my house… I swear! N-nothing bad happened I’m perfectly fine.”

Fine was not a word he would use to describe his current state because Will had his hands on his shoulders as if he’d run away or something and was particularly close to a huge gash that Mike was worried he’d touch it and it’d start stinging again or worse. He’d actually find it, then he’d really be dead.
