Summary
The silence in the cabin had been different for days.
It wasn't just the absence of the baby's crying, the baby that everyone had been waiting for. Saying that would be very obvious and too cruel, but something was thicker, as if the air itself refused to move on and Shauna felt it in her chest with every breath. She felt empty but heavy and light at the same time. Her body was still here but as if something something essential had left without saying goodbye when she gave birth.
