“A Type G has appeared in Harumi River!”
“Issue an evacuation! Prepare for Phase 3! Xio, move out!
“Roger!”
The Kaiju was preparing to leave the river.
From the ground, the lab team, Daichi, Rui, and Mamoru, analyzed the new Kaiju, a blue-skinned creature with red horns and wings.
Daichi took out his X Devizer, scanning the Kaiju.
“There haven't been any records of this Kaiju appearing in the past,” Daichi declared.
“Then it’s a new species?” wondered Mamoru.
From the sky, Sky Musketty engaged with the Kaiju, firing at it. The Kaiju was unfazed.
The X Devizer sensed a huge amount of heat forming in the Kaiju’s mouth.
“Oh no!” Daichi exclaimed. “The Kaiju is gonna fire!”
The Kaiju's mouth glowed.
And then it paused.
The Kaiju quickly and hurriedly retreated back into the water.
Everyone who saw this was perplexed.
“W-What just happened?” was all Rui could say.
The Kaiju, now named Harugon, appeared a second time near Ginjuji high school.
The Special Investigation Team was deployed. Asuna handled the evacuation while Wataru and Hayato prepared Sky Musketty.
As for Daichi, he decided to head off too.
“X, let’s unite!”
“Right!”
Daichi pressed the button on top of the X Devizer.
There was a flash of light.
Daichi and the Giant of Light residing within the X Devizer became one.
Daichi has transformed into Ultraman X.
X faced Harugon, who was heading towards Toyosu Canal.
And then the Kaiju started shrinking.
“What’s going on?” Daichi asked within X’s inner space.
X’s eyes followed Harugon as he continued shrinking until he was human sized.
“There he is!” X said, pointing at a stairway.
Daichi and X called off their transformation.
Daichi landed on the stairway, and he saw…
“A girl?”
Indeed, it seemed like Harugon had transformed into a naked girl, a high schooler by the looks of it.
Her and Daichi’s eyes met.
The girl screamed.
It’s over.
That was all Aikishi Kuroe could think about as she was being taken by the man who found her, Oozora Daichi he introduced himself, and another Xio guy, Wataru, who was driving the car back to their base. ‘So I can be dissected and experimented on, probably…’
And to think that she finally knew how Minami felt about her.
The car ride was silent. At the very least, they gave her an oversized coat to cover herself with.
When they made it to Xio’s base, they were immediately greeted by a man and woman in lab coats.
“No way, that’s really Harugon?!” asked the bespectacled woman excitedly.
Daichi nodded. “I scanned her. They’re one and the same.”
With that declaration, the two scientists began hounding Kuroe, thirsting for answers on the anomaly in front of them.
“Hey, stop that, she’s clearly distressed!” Wataru chided.
That made the scientists pause as they saw the terrified look on Kuroe's face. They slowly backed away.
“Oops, sorry,” the woman said sheepishly.
The group then escorted Kuroe to Xio’s headquarters, where there were more Xio members, including an orange alien.
An older man and woman stood, facing Kuroe, while everyone else watched with curiosity.
“You are Aikishi Kuroe, correct?”
Kuroe nodded. They must have researched her before she arrived. Oh no! What about mom?! What would they do to her?!
“Is it okay if we ask you a few questions?” asked the woman. Strangely, her voice was warm and kind.
“Alright,” Kuroe answered.
The woman nodded, and asked, “how long have you known you could turn into a Kaiju?”
Kuroe shifted uncomfortably. “Just… Just the other day. I mean, ever since I was young my body kept changing?”
“Changing?” the man repeated. Kuroe nodded.
“Yes. My body would get all… Scaly… And ugly… Whenever my emotions heighten up. But I didn't know I’d turn into a literal monster!”
To Kuroe’s surprise, the woman put a hand on her shoulder, comforting her. “It’s alright, you don't have to be scared.”
Kuroe was confused. “But… You’re going to cut me up, right? That’s why I’m here…”
Everyone looked surprised at that.
“We’re not going to hurt you,” Daichi assured her. “We want to help you figure out your… Condition, so you won't hurt yourself and anyone else.”
A small glimmer of hope shone on Kuroe’s eyes. “Really…”
Daichi smiled and nodded before signalling to the scientists. “Let us show you something.”
Daichi and the scientists took her to what she assumed to be her lab. Specifically, they showed her an area filled with miniature habitats, with a bunch of Kaiju figures in them.
“Those are Spark Dolls,” Daichi explained. “Miniaturized Kaiju that were scattered all over the world.”
Miniaturized Kaiju? Didn’t Manatsu say Kaiju toys were her best friend's. Was she talking about… Wait a minute…
Kuroe panicked. “Are you gonna turn me into that?!”
Daichi chuckled. “No. We want to show you that Xio’s job isn't just to fight Kaiju, but to understand them, befriend, and maybe one day create a world where humans and Kaiju can coexist.
A world where humans and Kaiju can coexist. Was that even possible?
Daichi grabbed one of the Spark Doll and handed it to Kuroe. “That’s Gomora. He’s been with me since I was a child.”
Kuroe examined the Spark Doll. She wants to think it’s ugly, but for Daichi, it’s a lifetime companion.
“You’ll really help me, huh?”
“If you let us,” Daichi nodded.
It was then that Kuroe realized that tears were coming out of her eyes.
“Yes, please. Make me norm– No, please help me get better!"
“Um, Daichi?” the woman scientist, called out, pointing at Kuroe who’s body is getting more scaly.
It was then that they remembered that Kuroe’s transformations are triggered by her emotions.
The group quickly panicked.
“Quick! Take her to the testing grounds!” Kuroe heard someone yell, but she was too overwhelmed to care who. These people knew who she was, and they weren't repulsed. They genuinely wanted to help her manage her condition, and to make a world where she could be accepted.
In that moment, Kuroe believed that everything would be okay.
