Sebastian had never originally been one to visit aquariums. Sure, fish were cool and all, but he often preferred going to other places with his family. Yet here he was, standing by the shark tank that they also filled with stingrays for some reason, all so that kids and parents could come up and touch them.
Well that’s definitely a way to get bit. He thought to himself.
If one thing was for sure, the creatures in the tank were at least friendly, otherwise they wouldn’t have been allowed to be pet in the first place. If anything, he knew that personally, potentially more than anyone else in the building.
That’s when he heard it, the faint ripples in the water and a splash. Snapped out of his thoughts, he looked down to see one of the coral catsharks on display, slapping its tail against the side of the enclosure before tilting its head up to look at Sebastian. Staring. Waiting eagerly like a cat wanting attention.
Sebastian was taken aback by this for a moment, blinking before shaking his head. Crouching down to get closer to the shark’s level, making eye contact the best he could with it, he tapped his hand against the stone barrier as a string of a few clicks escaped his throat.
His breath hitched for a moment, before slowly turning to look over at some kid who was staring at him. He gave an awkward smile, before clearing his throat.
“Hiccups.” He muttered out. The kid looked away at that, to which he let out his held breath as a sigh of relief. “That could have been worse.” He muttered.
He turned back to the shark, who still stared at him eagerly from below the water.
“Fine…” He sighed, before reaching his hand into the water, the once human-looking hand’s skin rippled back to reveal greyish scales with webbed digits with claws at the end. The monstrous looking hand giving the playful shark a few pets and scritches.
