Summary
On their way back to Jackson after the massacre at the hospital, Joel and Ellie stop for a brief bathroom break in the woods and find something completely unexpected hidden amongst the trees, the very last little. Compelled by his caregiver nature, Joel brings the girl back to Jackson in the hope that Maria and Tommy will know what to do with her. Weeks later, as he tries to assimilate to life in Jackson whilst simultaneously adapting to his newly cemented role as Ellie's guardian, he suddenly finds himself taking on another responsibility. With his self-image at an all time low and the prying eyes of the council peering down his neck, can Joel help this shy, trembling woman to finally make herself at home, or is he destined to let both of his girls down?
