Alex woke up silently crying.
Now, this wasn’t the first time, but no matter how hard they tried to get them to stop, they wouldn’t.
Eventually, there was a soft knock on their door followed by it creaking open. Then there was a small dip in the bed.
Alex looked up from their position curled into a ball to look at the new person.
Percy.
He seemed worried, which was still unusual. Alex wasn’t used to people caring about them, but here Percy was, sitting on their bed, hand rubbing their back, but not really saying anything.
That was something Alex liked. When they woke up crying at the old place, someone would always talk, but sometimes, they just needed to cry.
Alex doesn’t know how they got there, but after a couple minutes, they were curled up in Percy’s lap, slowly falling back asleep as Percy ran his fingers through Alex’s hair. The last thing Alex heard was Percy’s soft voice, “you’ll be alright.”
(Jason would later get home from patrol and find his foster kid and boyfriend curled together on the bed, he smiled, took a picture, and covered both of them with a blanket.)
