(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Mahorah woke up. Another weird dream, one where he wielded the crown Landia always wore to save everyone as the prophecies stated could happen. …Huh, maybe… No, no way to…

The sun shining into his eyes dragged him out of his thoughts. Sometimes he really disliked the sun, but it'd be alright! After all, it has been ten years since he ended up on Earth… Sure, it did happen because he got banished from his home, but he's fine with that!

Mahorah pushed himself up from his bed. Looking around, Mahorah noticed that Tomoe was missing. Not super strange, Tomoe always got up early. Ears and tail flicking, Mahorah stretched before going to walk out his room.

…He proceeded to bonk his head on a banner. “Happy birthday!”, it said. Mahorah hissed at the banner, why was it right there?! Hearing shuffling downstairs, his parents were likely awake with Tomoe. Mahorah walked downstairs, slinking down the steps.

“Happy Birthday, Mahorah!”

Beating down his slight annoyance, Mahorah smiled at the trio. Tomoe seemed better than he had in a while. His parents were both sitting, each with a present. He was hoping this year didn't have any dragging places. Again.

“Thanks…” Mahorah said, "Who put the banner on my door?”

“Uhh…” Both of his parents went.

“Mom did it,” Tomoe said, “Which… I said would be a bad idea.”

“I'm sorry, Mahorah,” She said.

With that, she walked over to him, holding a cloak in her arms. Mahorah grabbed the cloak, surprised. The robe had a hood, gear motifs, and a small mouth covering. Mahorah put on the robe, pushing up the hood and covering.

“I… Thank you,” Mahorah said.

“Though I didn't get you anything new,” His dad walked over, holding a knife.

It… It was Mahorah's knife. The one he tried slaying Landia with.

His dad chuckled before speaking, “After this long, I trust you enough to not do anything stupid with this.”

“Honey!”

“No promises!” Mahorah said.

“Again,” Tomoe said, “that is also a mistake. The others have something planned for a party,” Tomoe said, “You want to go now?”

“Yeah,” Mahorah said.

Putting the knife in the cloak pocket, Mahorah put on his shoes, Tomoe already having his stuff on. Both waved off their parents, before heading out.

 —

Kira rocked back and forth, holding a photo album. The album was full of photos Kira has from years of friendship. They were just waiting for Mahorah and Tomoe to come, after all.

Looking at their friends, they saw their plans for the day. Banri was sitting on the side of the ship, holding some rubber jewelry in a bag. Sal was sitting on the steps of the ship, holding a cat plush dressed in blue. Ado was next to him, a painting laying next to her. Fiddling with the patches he had made, Maruku was looking over at the food that was set up.

“For the love of- Maruku, wait for Mahorah,” Banri said.

Maruku groaned in annoyance at Banri catching him. Kira heard little giggles from Ado, earning her a glare from Maruku.

The sun was shining bright in the sky. Nothing could go wrong, right? Even if something went wrong, the five of them could deal with it.

Hearing a duo of footsteps, the five looked at the source. Tomoe and Mahorah. Both siblings look much better than normal. The party has started!

It was a long party, but the five Cures were walking together, after all, they all needed to go the same way. Gooey rode on Ado's head, watching the setting sun.

A text came to them all. One from Mahorah. One saying ‘shit something went wrong’. Gooey looked confused at the switch of emotions on their faces.

The five kids looked at each other. Ado looked with horror, the thought of any of them in danger setting her off. Stomping his foot in anger, Maruku groaned. Sal grabbed his shirt and tugged on it, his hands tugging. Banri sighed in annoyance, but the fear was underlying. Kira? Kira was highly concerned, but they're ready to help, no matter what. There was a small nod from Kira, mirrored by the other four.

“Pretty Cure! Star Shine!”

Light formed four stars around them, one for Kira, one for Maruku, one for Ado, and one for Banri and Sal, the stars shooting into the air. Kira's light went around their arms, getting sleeves or arm warmers, they couldn't tell even after seeing the whole thing. Banri and Sal had their light going to their small outfits, making a bandit outfit for Banri, and a Sailor Fuku for Sal. Maruku used his nub arm to tap his head three times, causing light to come to it. His hair became spikier, and lighter purple and the light went to his face, making his eyes bright red and blue, and making his fang-like canines actually fangs. Ado threw paint up, raining it down on her head, making her hair a little longer. Maruku kicked out of his light orb, while the other four stayed inside theirs. All four landed at the same time, the light creating Kira's boots, beams popped up, Banri and Sal grabbing them for their weapons, Maruku falling onto the platform, and rolled to the center, light making a ring around his head, and the ring stretching up, making a jester hat. Ado grabbed a paint pallet from the light in the ground.

"The warrior of the starry sky," Cure Sleep spun around, and pointed, “Cure Sleep!" Cure Sleep brought their arms near their face, and they posed.

“The dual warriors of the cloudy sky!" Both Banri and Sal yell at once, grabbing each other, and then spinning and posing.

"Cure Spear!" Cure Spear said.

"Cure Sail!" Cure Sail said.

"The warrior of the rain-filled sky!" Cure Jester spun around, posing, "Cure Jester!"

"The warrior of the snow-filled sky!" Cure Paint posed, "Cure Paint!"

"To save the universe from destruction!" All five jump into the air and pose, "Hoshi no Purikura!”

The light surrounded the six, and sent them into Popstar once again; they didn't know what happened to Mahorah, but he's their friend.

Landing in Popstar, Sleep saw the interdimensional ship fall apart and crash into the ground. The five flinched at the sound. Rushing ahead, the door opened as they entered.

Mahorah laid on the floor, hopping up. He groaned before looking around.

“Oh, oh god!” He said, “I just got this ship!”

“Are you okay?” Paint asked.

“Oh-” Mahorah's breath caught, before he turned around, “Hello! My name is Mahorah! I come from another dimension, but I was living in another, separate to that one and this one.”

All five looked at each other, then at Mahorah. Gooey stared just at the group.

“Just… What happened to your ship,” Spear said.

“I tried returning to my home world, but there was Landia, a dragon,” Mahorah turned around and started fiddling with the ship, “... When I crashed, I lost all my ship pieces.”

“We'll help you find them!” Sleep said.

“Sleep…” Sail said quietly.

“Really?” Mahorah said, “Well, thank you all! If you want, after, I could bring you all to my birth dimension!”

All the heroes looked at each other, and left the ship. Gooey stayed behind, sitting on Mahorah’s head. They would discuss on the way. But seriously Mahorah, you went back to the planet you were banished from?!

 —

Following a symbol Mahorah gave them, the 5 Cures set off to Cookie Country. The sky was bright and blue above them, clouds swirling into spirals.

“So Mahorah really… He really crashed his ship?” Paint said, “Because he went back to his home planet?”

“Maybe he thought it’d be safe?” Sleep said, “Besides, it has been a decade…”

“Yeah, but also, both he and Tomoe have been acting off for a while,” Jester said, “Maybe he thought it’d be a good idea with this strange shit?”

Sail nodded, “We’ve all been acting off the past few days, but those two… It’s been months and…”

“We… Don’t really have time to worry about that now.” Spear said, “Mahorah is still trapped here.”

The group begrudgingly agreed. They still had to get the Lor’s stuff back. So, continuing on, they trekked through the country.

“Maybe this time we can just get them without fighting-” Sleep said.

They then saw the oars of the Lor! … Tangled up in Whispy Woods branches.

“Hi,” Sail asked, “Can we just get the oars out of-”

Sail was then hit in the head with an apple. The other cures jumped to his defense, weapons up. Air blasts fired, the Cures jumping around to dodge.

“I have it handled!” Paint said, paintbrush in hand. The paint dripping became coated in rainbows. “Pretty Cure! Al Fresco!” Running forward, Paint swung her paintbrush wildly, attacking Whispy, and knocking the ores out of the branches. Quickly gathering the oars-

“Let's get out of here!” Sleep said.

Thus, the group dashed away, not wanting to deal with that stupid tree. At least, hopefully, they’d never have to deal with the tree again.

 —

Returning to the ship, the oars flew out of the Cures’s hands, and slotted neatly into the Lor. The cures entered the ship, where they caught Mahorah breathing a sigh of relief.

“You did it, guys!” Mahorah said, “The oars are back!”

“Wait,” Jester said, “If this is a spaceship, why does it have oars?”

“... I don’t know!” Mahorah said.

“Why did you go to your birth planet if you lived on another one?” Spear asked.

“I…” Mahorah dragged the word on, “Wanted to see what it’s like now, that’s all!”

The Cures looked at him, not believing him fully. But it seemed like he wanted to keep it down for now…

 —

The Cures went to where the Lor detected its right wing. Raisin Ruins- a desert area.

“Is it me,” Sail asked, “Or was this point something different last time we came?”

“Maybe?” Sleep said.

“However, with Maho,” Paint said, “It seems like he didn’t want us to know…”

“Yeah, that’s suspicious,” Spear said. “Something’s wrong.”

“There’s a chance he would’ve told us if we weren’t transformed,” Jester said, “But even then! He hasn’t told us shit before now!”

“Mahorah’s never been interested in going back to his birth planet!” Kira said, “Something’s up with him! He said he’d bring us to his planet, maybe we’ll find out why then!”

Paint said, “It still doesn’t stop me from worrying…”

“Me neither,” Sail said, “He’s… Is he in trouble?”

The group stared at each other, fearing for their friend. But the group continued on, trekking through the desert. The wing sat in a treasure hoard, on top of treasure.

“I got it!” Jester hopped on a beach ball, and rolled as quick as he could. Grabbing it with his one hand, he sprung off the treasure, flying to the group. The area started rumbling.

“We need to get out of here!” Spear said, “Now!”

 —

Getting back to the ship, the wing flew out of Jester’s hands, and slotted in its place. The group ran into the ship, Mahorah smiling.

“You did it!” Mahorah said, “One of the wings is back!”

“Wait,” Paint said, “How did you get this ship?”

The other Cures looked at her confused, she knows this! She was there!

“My friends gave it to me,” Mahorah said, “They’re… Probably so concerned, I sent them a text when I crashed.”

The group looked, Mahorah didn’t know them like this. Well, that explains a lot…

 —

Walking through the beach, Onion Ocean, the Cures looked around. This whole situation was getting worse, Mahorah was getting concerning. The group walked silently, not saying much. Their concern was growing between the five. They needed to get Mahorah to safety, fast. Something is wrong.

The wing floated on the ocean, Sail started to swim to it… When a massive fish appeared, spewing water at him. Spear jumped in the water, tossing his spear at the fish. The fish squirmed away, seemingly, before bouncing at the siblings.

Sleep, Jester, and Paint jumped to their defense, holding their arms out. Spear and Sail grabbed the wing and swam out of the water. The other three caught the fish, and threw it into the water, before swimming out too.

 —

Returning to the ship, the wing, like a boomerang, flew out of the twin’s hands, and into its slot. Mahorah sat at the ship’s chair as the cures entered the ship.

“Good job guys!” He said, “I tried texting my friends, but… Something has been happening with them recently.”

“What do you think has been happening to them?” Sleep said.

“I can’t tell fully, but they seem to be heavily busy with something… But haven’t told me what. My brother has been busy too.”

The Cures looked at each other, oh crud… Mahorah doesn’t know their secret so…

“Have they been ignoring you?” Spear asked.

“No, it’s more they seem more…” Mahorah dragged his word out, “Concerned something will happen.”

“... Huh…”

 —

The group crossed into the frosty lands of White Wafers, looking for the next part.

“Should we have told him?” Sleep said, “And Tomoe too, should we have told them?”

“I feel like I should have at least told them something happened,” Jester said, “But I didn’t wanna explain the whole Nova shit.”

“Would they have even believed us?” Paint said, “... We should have, but I didn’t want them to be concerned…”

“However, even if we did, that still wouldn’t likely have changed much,” Spear said, “Considering Mahorah’s being intentionally obtuse about all of this.”

The group didn’t know what to say, this whole adventure is so confusing, and Mahorah… He’s just…

But before they could fully think about it, they saw the emblem. It was hanging on a large ice spike.

“Do we actually need that?” Jester said, “Seems unimportant, really.”

“I mean, it could have something akin to headlights!” Sleep said.

“Fair. I don’t wanna fly and grab it though. Plus, I might definitely drop it.”

“Then how do we get it down?” Paint said.

“I can jump infinitely!” Sleep said, “I’ll get it!”

Sleep started jumping over and over, reaching to the mast. They tried grabbing it, but knocking it off the ice spike. It rolled off the spike, nearly hitting the others. Sleep followed it, riding down the side.

“SORRY!” They yelled.

“... And it dropped anyway.” Spear said.

“How did it balance on that, anyways?” Sail asked.

 —

The mast was carried to the boat, by all five Cures. Flying out of their hands, it went to the front of the ship, attaching on.

“Hah… Son of a bitch-” Jester said, “Why was that so heavy?!”

“Because it’s the largest of the missing parts,” Spear said.

“... Right,” Jester said.

The group entered the ship. Mahorah was spinning on the captain's chair, Gooey was taking a nap in his lap. Upon noticing the Cures, he nodded.

“Seems like the ship is nearly repaired!” Mahorah said, “I can’t thank you guys enough!”

“Hold on,” Paint said, “Why do you wanna go back to your home planet?”

“Yeah, you said you lived in another dimension,” Sail said.

“My school was attacked,” Mahorah said, “Maybe I could find a way to protect my friends? My home planet has magic. Plus, my brother has been overly stressed, so I want to help him, too!”

The cures blinked in surprise.

“Oh,” Sleep said.

 —

Crossing into the last point of Popstar, Nutty Noon, the group looked at each other.

“FUCK!” Spear said, his palms slamming over his eyes, “Even if we did tell Mahorah! He still might’ve done this because we have no idea what’s up with Tomoe!”

“Spear-” Sail said, “We still have a chance of finding out what’s going on.”

“Mahorah never showed any interest in returning to his home planet,” Sleep said, “When I first met him, he was scared out of his mind!”

“We have to find out what the hell is going on,” Jester said, “And the main way to do that is… Is going to…”

“Mahorah refuses to answer our questions, we might have to figure out on his birth planet,” Spear said.

“I just hope it’s something small…” Paint said, “I already feel bad enough because of the Dark Matter attack.”

The group nodded, this was getting worse, and bizarre. But, along they went, climbing the massive tower. Something shined at the top, and the Cures reached the tip.

The mast was just sitting there. Just for the taking. Sleep walked to grab it, before getting knocked away as a massive creature formed around it. The other Cures readied their attacks. Sleep nudged themself up.

Jester snapped his finger once, a light ball generating in his hand, “Pretty Cure!” He brought the light to his mouth, where it swirled in, “Meddlesome Nightmare!” He blew the light out, a beam coming out with the air.

The creature covered itself with its wings, catching the beam, but opening itself up.

Spear and Sail grabbed one of each other’s hands, both running forward, “Pretty Cure!” Leaping off the ground, both thrusted their weapons forward, ”Dual Striker!”
The creature was hit in the eyes, forcing the mast out of its mouth. Paint and Sleep grabbed the mast. The creature rushed at the two-

“BAIL!” Sleep yelled.

Sleep then jumped with the mast off the tower, Paint still holding on the other end.

“SLEEP!” She screamed.

The other three looked at each other. They followed.

“Sleep,” Paint said, “Sleep, what is wrong with you?!”

“I panicked!”

The mast of the ship flew into its slot, the ship fluttering up into the

air, before landing back in its landing crater. The group ran into the ship, Mahorah smiling.

“THANK YOU!” He said, “Thank you so much for repairing the ship!”

“No problem, it’s what we do!” Sleep said.

“Do you guys want to come with me to Halcandria?”

The cures looked at each other… This was their one chance but…

“Are you sure you want to go?” Paint said.

“I’m sure!”

“Then we’ll go,” Spear said, “We have to make sure it’s safe.”

“Alright then!” Mahorah smiled, putting in commands into the Lor.

The door shut behind the Cures, the ship lifting off. Portal ripping

open, the ship flew forward, approaching a planet with a large volcano. Upon crossing into the planet’s atmosphere, the ship got hit by a fireball. Flying down, the ship crashed on the planet. The ship’s screen ignited with the image of a 4-headed dragon, wearing a crown.

“What… What is that?!” Sail asked.

“Landia…” Mahorah said.

“We have to stop that dragon!: Sleep said.

“Sleep you-” Spear said.

“That dragon was the reason I got banished!” Mahorah said, “I was 5!

“...Nevermind,” Spear said.

The group left the ship, and started their trek to the dragon’s volcano. Jester coughed as they stepped out.

“Jesus Christ the air!” Jester said, “It sucks bad!”

“Just what happened here?” Paint said, “Is this the dragon’s fault too?”

“Guess we’re gonna have to try figuring that out when we get there!” Sleep said.

The group marched on, going through the ruined land. It was weirdly empty, despite them going through what seemed to be a small town. Were the people scared of them? Or were they all gone? But they reached the edge of the volcano, the four-headed dragon glaring at them.

The dragon fired at them, the Cures jumping away from the blast. The dragon split, flying at four of the cures, Sleep not targeted. Spear caught one of the head’s mouth open with the spear. Sail leaped on the back of the dragon, holding on. Jester flew out of the way, and blew a raspberry at the dragon. Meanwhile, Paint summoned an easel to use as a shield, the dragon ramming into it.

Sleep grabbed their dream pact, and it shined in a pink light. They shot up, holding a pink ball of light in their hand, “Copy!” The light struck a nearby weapon, them becoming their sword form. “Pretty Cure!” Sleep aimed at the crown of the dragon, “Final Slash!” Rushing forward, Sleep cut at the crown, knocking it off the dragon’s head. The dragon - the four dragons, all let go, before fainting.

Footsteps were heard behind them, as Mahorah got to the crown.

“Finally! I’ve been wanting to destroy this damn thing for years!” He said.

“Wait, what?” Sleep said.

“This crown seems to be connected to why Halcandria sucks,” Mahorah said, “Now all I have to do is…”

Mahorah lifted the crown over his head, it really would be it if he smashed it. His friends needed to be protected, but he froze entirely, his hands opening. The crown fell on his head, and as he realized, he panicked, trying to rip it off. Claws from the crown dug into his forehead, blood starting to stream down his face. He started to tear up, but then his body froze once again.

“Mahorah…?” All five cures asked.

“I knew I could rely on the stray’s idiocy,” Mahorah(?) said, before flames surrounded him, “After all…”

The flames covered him, the tears and blood turning to steam. Mahorah(?) started floating, and gained a new outfit, one fit for a king.

My name is Mistlestilstin, and obtaining this body was my ultimate goal all along!” The Cures store in confusion and fear, “What’s with the weird looks? Fine, let me explain everything. He fought Landia, my warden, and lost, getting banished to another dimension for his troubles. I knew he couldn’t stay away, and that’s when the thought hit me! I could have anyone he brought do the work of getting rid of Landia for me! A stroke of genius, I know. Anyways…” The being ripped open a portal, Earth appearing within it, “The time has come for your planet, no, the entire universe to bow to me! For being such a big help in all of this, your planet gets to go first! Prepare to bow, Earth, welcome your new overlord!

Mistlestilstin flew in the portal, the cures looking at each other.

“We - we just doomed-!” Sleep said.

Sleep was then interrupted by Landia sliding under them, with them landing on the dragon’s back.

Do not despair,” Landia said, “We shall help you.

The other dragons of Landia went to the other cures. Spear and Sail went on one of them, and Jester and paint on the two others. Landia flew in the portal, the Cures riding on them. Rushing through the world between worlds, the Cures avoided the attacks of Mistlestilstin, as it tried slowing their advance. Lands or creatures, the Cures flew past it all.

Damn you persistent pests…” Mistlestilstin said, “Fall!

Mistlestilstin fired orbs of energy at the cures, knocking down Landia, and thus, the Cures. Sleep pushed themself up from the magical fire floor.

“Is everyone alright?” They asked.

Sleep looked around, first seeing Spear pushing himself up by his weapon.

“Still not dead,” he said.

Next, both saw Sail, holding his weapon in front of his head, to protect himself from the impact.

“Who… Who knew being a magical girl would be this crazy…?” Sail asked.

Sleep looked over, to Jester, who was flapping his wings in an attempt to speak.

“I’m down a limb!” He said, “Then again, I was before so…”

“Jerk,” Paint said, pushing herself up from the broken easel she used as a landing spot, “You scared me!”

Jester mumbled a sorry, and the group stood together, as they passed deeper into the realm. There they saw Mistlestilstin, on a throne. He groaned, floating off the throne, and flying closer. Magic was released in waves, the Cures dodged the waves, each moving out of the way. Mistlestilstin realized that the Cures wouldn’t be able to fight, if it put up a shield, so it did. Spear attacked the shield, no damage.

“Shit, I can’t get through!”

Mistlestilstin then summoned minions, and threw them at the cures, before sitting on its throne once again. Sleep has the pink glow start again.

“Copy!” Sleep fired at it, the ball hitting all five, and rushing to all five Cures.

“What?!” Sleep said.

Sleep gained an upgraded version of the sword. Spear got massive amounts of fire, Sail got massive amounts of snow. Jester got a large staff in his hands, and Paint gained a massive hammer on her paintbrush.

Jester gripped the staff, and smiled, channeling his energy, he summoned it in the staff, “Pretty Cure!” A large orb summoned above him, and he fired it into a massive beam, “Flaring Nightmare!” The beam struck the shield, breaking the first point of the star.

What?!

The other Cures looked at Jester, and nodded.

Paint grabbed the hammer, and jumped, “Pretty Cure!” Colors flew around her, and attached to the hammer, “Grand Al Fresco!” Paint slammed into the shield, the second point of the star shattering under the hammer head.

Both Spear and Sail grabbed each other’s hands, and rushed at Mistlestilstin. “Pretty Cure!” Both became surrounded by their elements, and spun into the shield, “Snow-Fire Striker!” The shield had broken down to one point.

Sleep rushed forward, sword in hand, the sword glowing, “Pretty Cure!” Mistlestilstin flew at them,  hitting the last point of the shield, “Ultra Slash!” The last point was struck in half.

You, you!” Mistlestilstin yelled.

The five cures surrounded Sleep, each grabbing the sword, and slashing at Mistlestilstin, which held its hands to stop the blade. But, just as the lash started to turn against the Cures, what felt like a sixth set of hands joined them. The cures slashed through Mistlestilstin, Mahorah falling away from the crown.

The crown flashed a few times, becoming surrounded in dark energy.

Mahorah felt himself wake up, and held himself up barely. He saw the Crown fighting the Cures. The Cures were trying, but the Crown had massive swords, and magic powers.

This was all his fault, wasn't it? He was the one who went back to Halcandria… He was the reason the Crown had this power! If he did something different, this wouldn't have happened! He had to do something, but he could do nothing…

At least, he thought so, but a star-shaped compact flew in front of him. Mahorah grabbed it, a warm light enveloping him. The world surrounding him was blue.

“Mahorah Webe, are you alright?”

“Wha- huh? What is this?”

“I apologize, but the Crown had lied to you, somewhat.”

“...Somewhat?”

“You weren’t Kura Rah, you are another being. To help the Cures, say Pretty Cure, Star Shine.”

“Alright-” Mahorah said, “Pretty Cure, Star Shine!”

Light swirled around Mahorah, creating a star, and shooting up. The light went around his head first, making once invisible patterns glow, and his hair floated, before the light formed a crown, which plopped itself on his head. The crown created circles of light that radiated down, the first one made Mahorah's outfit a small tank top and short's combination, and made more patterns, along with his eyes glow. The second ring made the underlying layer of his outfit, a baggy outfit, that collected and stopped at his elbows and knees. The third one gave him a cape that collected near the top and draped over his shoulders, ending at his knees. He curled into a ball, as the star broke, and he fell towards the platform, he put both his hands and feet out as he skids on the ground, the light creating gloves that covered just his hands and wrists, and boots that covered up to his ankles.

"The warrior of the aurora-filled sky!" Mahorah floated and posed, "Cure Crown!"

Crown noticed a sword coming to the Cures, and rushed forward, and held a shield in front of him. The shield caught the sword, and Crown picked up a dropped sword- Sleep’s dropped sword..

“Pretty Cure!” The sword in his hand grew bright, the shield being let down, “Sword Gear!” Slashing forward, the Crown shattered in half.

“Cure Crown?” Sleep said, “You-”

The area started shattering, and the Cures panicked. Landia rushed forward, and grabbed each of the Cures. The Lor followed, opening a portal to Popstar… Which was covered in vines, but the Cures only noticed this as they landed on a floating piece of ground, held up by vines.

“What happened here?” Jester said, “We left for six fucking minutes- WAIT! Shit, are you okay?!”

Jester patted Crown’s head.

“I… Yeah,” He said, “I’ll consider all this later.”

“Are you sure?” Paint said.

“I hope so…”

The Cures climbed the vines, to see King Dedede’s castle. The King seemed to be in a conversation with someone, but then he was knocked out by someone, and carried away into the sky.

“Hey!” Sail said, “Give him back!”

The Cures continued climbing the vine, to the first of six floating islands. The first island was bright, and covered in flowers the size of people. This wasn’t Dreamland’s land, obviously. The cures continued on, following the flowers, before seeing what seemed to be a spider-person, floating in front of some kind of sun-shaped stone, Dedede trapped in their webs.

“Hey! Who are you?!” Sleep said.

“Hm?” The person’s hairpieces blinked, before they turned to look at the cures, “Ah… To you, I am Taranza. This is the hero of the lower world, I shall not let you get to him.”

Taranza moved his hand over the stone, which darkened, and was unleashed into a flowery tree.

“THE DAMN TREE AGAIN?!” Jester said.

Taranza seemed to mouth something to the tree, before flying off. The tree roared as well as a tree could, and sent its roots at the cures. The cures jumped away from the roots, as the flowering tree sent a petal storm at them. Thinking quickly, Paint and Crown put up two barriers- an easel and the shield.

“I have this!” Crown’s sword summoned to his hand, “Pretty Cure!” The sword once again grew bright, “Sword Gear!”

Rushing forward to attack the tree, Crown slashed the tree with all his might. The tree dissipated into light, a small flower fairy holding the stone that Taranza corrupted. Crown grabbed the fairy, bringing them closer to the others.

“So that fairy was the tree?” Sleep asked.

“Wow, guess we’ll never have to deal with that tree again!” Jester said.

“What’s so wrong with the tree?” Crown said.

“We keep encountering it,” Spear said, “It got corrupted by dark matter, had your ores in its branches…”

“My head still hurts…” Sail complained.

Paint nodded, before saying, “It just doesn’t like-”

That's when the Cures heard a groan from the fairy in Crown’s arms. The fairy floated up, and rubbed its eyes.

“What happened…” The fairy said, before seeing the Cures.

The fairy froze  for a few seconds, before shaking their head.

“Thank you for saving me!” The fairy said, “My name is Poppy.”

“Nice to meet you, Poppy!” Sleep said.

“It seems the rest of Floralia is still under attack by Se-ranza! Taranza!”

Se?” Spear said.

The fairy ignored him, “The next place is Lollipop Land! With the power of Floral Fields, open the path!”

The vine grew higher, revealing an area that was covered in sweets.

“Good luck!”

The group moved on, confused.

“Do you think Taranza has a boss?” Jester asked, “Because Seranza is not Taranza.”

“Most likely,” Paint said, “But then, why would the fairy cover for her?”

The other cures wondered the same thing, but none had an answer as they entered into the next land. This land was covered in sweets and candy. It took the other four all their strength to hold Sleep and Jester from eating the landscape, but they held on, as they saw  Taranza once again.

“You realise that following me is useless, right?” Taranza said, “My plan has already come to fruition.”

“If you think that that’s gonna stop us, then you’re wrong!” Sleep said, “We won’t stop until you give the King back!”

“Very well then,” He said, getting closer to the cures, “Then you shall fall trying to reach the heights of Floralia.”

Taranza flew his hand over another sun-shaped stone, creating a panting based witch, before flying off.

The paint witch laughed loud, and started painting on a canvas.

“Leave this to me!” Paint said.

The others nodded, sitting back. The paint witch and Paint went at it, making drawings to counter each other. A sword? Countered by a shield. Kracko? Countered by an umbrella. A bomb? Bounced back by a trampoline. A rocket? Hot by a meteor. Landia?

“How?” Paint said, “You know what, no, I’m ending this, Pretty Cure!” Paint charged her paintbrush, and rushed forward, a rainbow ribbon forming behind her. “Al Fresco!” She spun the rainbow ribbon, and tied up the paint witch, the paint purifying her…

And sending out a flower fairy and Pai. Pai was holding her arms tightly around the fairy, as if defending it.

“Pai?!” Paint said.

“Wait, how the hell did she get here?” Jester said, flying over to the duo.

Pai groaned, and woke up, pushing herself up.

“Wha… I’m awake?” She said.

The other cures got closer, with Sleep helping Pai up.

“How’d you get here?” They asked.

“It was during the storm of darkness,” Pai said, “I ran and ran, and next thing I saw… I was here.”

“Don’t worry!” Sail said, “We can get you home!”

“Thank you so much!” Pai said.

The fairy woke up in Pai’s arms. Flying up and stretching, she started speaking in a quick tone.

“Ohhhh, the plan happened, the plan happened!” She said, “My name’s Delilah, and I can help make your travels easier! With the power of Lollipop Land, open the path! Good luck!”

“I’ll guide her back to the Lor,” Crown said, “I’ll catch up, I hope.”

“We trust you, Crown,” Spear said.

And with that, five of the cures proceeded onwards. Climbing up the beanstalk once again, they reached the next world, one covered in gears and cogs. Traveling through the lands, the Cures reached the edge of the island, with Taranza standing, watching the edge.

“Is that…?” He mumbled-

“HEY!” Sleep said.

Taranza turned around, and looked at the cures. He seemed to panic for about a second, before screaming was heard from below.

“CROWN!” All five shouted.

Taranza used this shift of focus to get away, as Crown came up, held by Kracko. Crown fell off Kracko, who angrily rushed at the rest of the cures, touching the darkened stone.

“Oh hell no!” Jester yelled, “Pretty Cure!” Placing a ball of light in his mouth, Jester screamed, “Meddlesome Nightmare!” Firing a beam at Kracko, the cloud dissipated, a fairy falling away from the darkened stone, now purified.

“Ow…” Crown said, “That cloud attacked me for no reason…”

“The cloud’s a dick,” Jester said.

“It really is,” Sleep said.

The fairy woke up, and rubbed her eyes, as she saw the cures.

“Seems like W- Taranza missed the mark…” She mumbled, before speaking up, “My name is Wisteria, I shall open the way for you. With the power of Old Odyssey, open the path!”

The cures waved to her as they climbed to an island covered in vegetation and forests.

“Did the travel method have to be climbing?” Spear said.

“No,” Jester said.

“You can fly, your answer doesn’t count!”

“The warp star, why haven't you used that?” Jester said.

“Oh,” Spear said, “Hey Sleep, next time can we…”

“Yep!” They said.

Continuing through the jungle, they entered a temple, and deep in the temple, they found Taranza once again.

“Persistent…” He said, “You will not continue on anymore.”

Taranza waved his hand over the darkened stone, and a giant rock snake came from behind him, and Taranza left through the roof. Spear and Sail hopped on the snake’s body, and both started running to the head.

“Pretty Cure!” Spear and Sail grabbed their weapons, spinning them in their hands, “Dual Striker!” Both attacked the head, causing the snake to fall to the ground, falling apart.

Sail grabbed a floating fairy.

“You just decided to run at it?!” Paint said, “Are you two crazy?”

“It worked, didn’t it?” Sail said, “We’re getting tired of fighting, or at least I am.”

“Oh,” Paint said.

The fairy woke up, and flew up.

“Oh! Clementine can see six - she thought there were five but…” Clementine said.

“What do you mean?” Spear said, “Taranza seems to think that there’s only one hero- and that he has him.”

“Oh! Excuse me, Clementine can’t say that!” She said, “With the power of Wild World, open the path!”

The vine climbed up to what was a volcano world.

“Oh jeez,” Sleep said.

“Oh hey! That looks like my birth planet!” Crown said.

Sleep whistled, and the warp star flew up to them, the cures getting on, and flying up to the next island. The group decided to stay on the warp star as they traveled, and as the volcano erupted, they felt right to do so, as they panicked and held onto the warp star, trying to get to whatever area was safe. There they saw Taranza in front of another corrupted heart.

“My plan has already worked,” Taranza said, “There is nothing you can do to stop it.”

“We will stop you!” Sleep said, “No plans can stand against the Pretty Cure!”

“Fine, then purify this and follow me, I will show you why my plan can’t be stopped.”

Taranza waited on part of the vine, and Spear noticed how King Dedede was missing.

“Pretty Cure!” Sleep charged the dream pact, “Sleep Purification!” and fired it to the stone, cleansing it.

The cures followed Taranza to the topmost floating island, a royal castle, following him through the castle hall, before reaching the throne room.

“There ya are!”
The cures got off the warp star, and stopped upon hearing the voice - King Dedede?!

“King Dedede?” Sleep said, “You’re okay?”
“Yeah! Taranza had a plan!” Dedede said.

Taranza nodded, “And my plan was to lure you guys here. You see, I knew that the people of the sky were calling for the Pretty Cure of the ground. So I made a plan, pretending to capture someone so you six follow me.”

“But why?” Sail said.

“Because I could not fight the queen on my own- GAH!”

And then Taranza got hit by electricity from behind, screaming in pain.

You are a traitor, Taranza, and shall not survive,

Taranza fell on the ground, a star shaped compact falling out of his cloak, and him changing, losing the spider elements and becoming…

“Tomoe…?” Crown mumbled.

Before rushing forward, and catching Sectonia’s blade with his own.

“GET HIM TO SAFETY, NOW!” Crown- Mahorah- screamed.

King Dedede got there the quickest, and moved Tomoe away. The cures jumped into the fight too. Each blow countered, each strike stopped, they refused to let Sectonia win.

Sectonia screamed as she fell back, grabbing her head.

I see. I expected as much from the hero chosen by the Dreamstalk," Sectonia said, "But I wonder, how will you handle this?" Sectonia flew back, her wings spreading out, "You see, true beauty is... control. The Dreamstalk guided you thus far..." Sectonia flew into the beanstalk- Dreamstalk, fusing with it, her legs turning into vines, "But its bloom will be your doom!" The Dreamstalk spread across Floralia and Pop Star, causing Pop Star to dim its light, "Floralia, Dream Land, and this entire planet! You should all feel honored," She flattened out her hands, as they started turning into large petals, petals sprouted from her back too, "You will serve as my sustenance for eternity!"

Sectonia laughed, as vines covered the exit, and the way to follow her. Tomoe groaned, and got up.

“Dream pact…” He grumbled, “Please…”

“Wait, Dream Pact?” Sleep said, “Are you?”

“Kick it over, please…”

“Are ya good enough ta fight?!” King Dedede said.

“Will be…”

Crown picked up the dream pact, and tossed it over to Tomoe. Tomoe grabbed it in both hands, and held his hands around it.

“Pretty Cure…” He said, the dream pact glowing, “Star Shine!”

Tomoe's light formed a star around him and changed his outfit to a tank top and shorts combo. He spun around, creating his shoes out of light, before jumping, making a cape. Tomoe grabbed the light, and clapped it in his hands, doing a pirouette to create a base outfit, before putting the cape around his shoulders. He brought the light to his hair, making horns and his silver hair go in a ponytail. Tomoe spun with his arms out, creating gloves, sleeves, and four floating, extra hands. The star landed on the platform, Tomoe skidding on the ground knocking up pellets of light, landing on his head, giving six extra eyes, making his eyes glow, and fangs.

"The warrior of the blossom-filled sky!" Tomoe posed, "Cure Web!"

Taran- Cure Web stretched his arms.

“You, you were-!?” Jester said

“Yes,” Web said, “It was hard to keep it a secret, but I needed to but…”

“Was this part of your plan?” Paint said.

“I didn’t think she would go so far…” Web said, “I can explain it all later-”

“WEB!”

The fairies flew to the vines, and used magic to open a hole.

“We’ve got you!”

“Go on, beat her!” King Dedede said.

So the cures summoned the warp star once again, and flew through the hole. Landing on a small platform, the seven cures looked to see Sectonia, now fully combined with the Dreamstalk. Rushing forward, the cures fought her eyes, each eye down made her scream-

She was one with the flowers now, only one of beauty and rule.. But all flowers must wilt, eventually. But Sectonia screamed, and cried out in wrath.

The energy of the Dreamstalk surrounded the cures, turning their accent colors to rainbow. Sectonia, in a last ditch effort to hold onto her crown, fired a beam at the cures.

Absorbing all the energy from the beam, the Cures held together, “Pretty Cure! Right Back At Ya!” They, from their hands, each fired a beam at Sectonia. Red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, and pink combined into one beam, and destroyed the queen, as she screamed.

The ground beneath the cures fell away, as the Dreamstalk withered down away from Floralia. Sleep was grabbed by some of the flower fairies, while Spear, Sail, and Paint were grabbed by Crown, Web, and Jester. King Dedede fell too, and Web sent his four floating hands to grab him.

After bringing it all to the ground, and waving to Dedede, the Cures stayed outside the Lor Starcutter.

“I have to say sorry for pretending to be Taranza,” Web said, “My real name is Tomoe-”

“We know!” The six yelled.

All six untransformed, and Web recoiled upon seeing his friends and brother.

“You, you guys were-?”

“I only got my powers today but-” Mahorah said.

Kira said, “We all have a lot to explain, don’t we?”

“Sleepover at the Webes?” Maruku said.

“Yeah!”

Web transformed back into Tomoe, and ran to his friends and teammates, all seven entering a massive hug.

We're so back!

Ok so long story short, the AO3 authors curse is very real. Don't fully wanna go into my mental health struggles, but just know, the curse is 100% real.

Some of the ideas in this redux telling were scrapped from OG Hoshi no, so I decided to add them in here! This has actually been in the works for months but again, authors curse.
