Chapter 1: Deal with the devil

Chapter Text

Today really didn’t look like the best day, not the worst, but the kind of bad that still gets under your nerves. Perhaps it was the coffee that was spilled into his shirt, perhaps it was the daily snarky comments his fellow radio hosts made, or perhaps it was the fact that the demon he has been trying to summon for a while was just ignoring him every SINGLE DAMN TIME!

… He was fine, he was just SWELL.

Alastor looked back at the offering he made, he looked at the deer meat in front of him and then back at his book that showed the symbol for the summoning. This wasn’t his usual Vodou practices his mother taught him, this was more of a Satanic ritual..? He didn’t know actually, and maybe that was his first mistake. Alastor knew he was doing this blind, but his ego told him that he could do it anyways, he always did.

Looking at the ingredients, it seemed he did everything perfectly, well except one thing that he doubted. The list asked for meat, well more specifically ‘meat that satisfied the being.’ Ain’t that the most vague thing he heard in his life? He wasn’t even sure why he was doing this again. Actually no, that’s a lie, he knew why he wanted this

If one thing was for sure is that Alastor was damned for hell, he had known that since he was a child. Either because he was a child of a taboo relationship or that he was a killer, it really didn’t matter because both were basically the same! So instead of dwelling in his misery like many others would do, why not start ahead? He could take the lead and make his eternity in hell just that much interesting. Along the way he could be selfish with some things, he always is.

He looked at that one word, meat, thinking and pacing on how that might work. An idea appears to him, a really good one at that. He chuckled, getting his axe and went outside with an uncanny smile to his face. Poor fella that was outside that night, it was almost as if his destiny was set. Sure he was a pig, everyone knew that, but even pigs are slaughtered more kindly than what he went through. Some screams were heard, but no one bated an eye, it’s the great city New Orleans after all!

The small shack at the bayou was opened once again, this time greeted by a more messy looking Alastor. His clothes were fine, he really didn’t need them to get any blood, his face and hands however told another completely different story. He put the bastard in the middle of the offering, laying down. He was a man in his late 40s, perhaps 48-49. The man was balding at a horrendous rate and he had some meat in his bones, his face was bruised and covered in blood. Alastor couldn’t really fuck up the body that bad ,after all, he don’t think the spirits would really like a horrendous offer, now would they?

He then put a lamb he had killed yesterday on top of the man, surprisingly, the lamb still looked fresh. He fixed some of the other things, just for them to look neat and then grabbed a knife, cutting it in a specific area of his arm. Since he had to try this multiple times, it was an area that was tender and was out of sight. The blood drips from his arm and falls to the lamb and the man. Alastor puts enough blood where it doesn’t look very little, but doesn’t cause him to be very busy. He puts pressure on the wound with a cloth, closes his eyes, and starts chanting in what he assumes is Latin.

After he finished, he opened his eyes and looked around to see nothing. Just his dumb face and a dead body on his floor. You know what? That’s it! He gives up continuing with this foolery! He just looks like some idiot-

His train of thought finally shut up the moment a bright red light started to appear from the ground, well more like his offer. He closed his eyes again, feeling a warmth feeling enter his body, the sinister kind of warmth. He felt a harsh breeze touch his skin, almost as if to cut right through him. Suddenly it stopped and the light became dimmer. Alastor still has his eyes closed because perhaps he still didn’t want to see what he had brought to this world. Well, he had to face his own sins anyways, he looked up to see a woman infant of him…. Who looked absolutely terrified, and she wasn’t even looking at the dead body, she was looking directly at him as if he were the decaying corpse.

She looked like a deer in headlights, well more like a goat in headlights. The demon in front of him is twice his height and has white pale skin, her goat like eyes and her red orbs almost seemed to want to pierce into him with how shocked she looked. She had black robes, and a black veil on top of her long and thick blonde hair. Golden jewelry was draped in her hands, feet, and collarbone. It was almost comical how angelic the being in front of him looked.

The statue of a demon in front of him finally moved her black colored lips, only to say one thing, “Oh my Satan.” She accidentally crushed the body of the lamb, and she got startled enough to jump away from it. What kind of scary goat has he just summoned? He took off my glasses before pinching the bridge of my nose and sighing. You already summoned a demon, Alastor, you might as well use it to your own advantage in some way.

Alastor puts his glasses back on and looks at her, “You’re quite the startled demon, dear, name is Alastor.” She stayed quiet, but had this disgusted look in her face as if HE was the demon, perhaps she wasn’t that far off. “Charlotte is fine, Mr. Alastor, why have you summoned me?” Straight to the point, I see.

“Oh nothing much, Miss Charlotte, I just wanted to make a little deal with you.”
The woman in front of him sighed. “A deal can be arranged, but it’ll come with a prize.”
“As anything in this life does! You see, I want to become the most powerful demon in hell to continue my little fun that I have been having in this life.”

While Charlotte seemed to keep her composure, he could tell her eyes looking at him with hate and bitterness, as if it was so outrageous to ask a demon for such a simple trade. Does she think summoning demons is something without sins? Well maybe sometimes, sadly for her, that isn’t the case.

The woman eyed him all over, looked around, and then spoke. “Fine, however, this prize may not be one you’re willing to pay.”

She took a step closer, making her tall frame even more apparent as he had to look up to look at her now. “I, Charlotte Morningstar, will reward you with power once you die. But before that day, you will allow me to live with you and learn about human life. You will provide food, shelter, clothing, and all necessities while I stay by your side.

Charlotte pulled her hand, fire coming from it. Black horns appeared from her forehead, her eyes became smaller and brighter, and a black long tail layer on the ground. Alastor must say that at this moment, he felt threatened like he never had before, but he would never admit that.

“Is it a deal then?” Alastor a moment, just a single second, froze. He had underestimated the demon in front of him. He smiled, this would be much more interesting after all.

“Deal”, he took her hand and shook it. Suddenly, the small cabin was again filled with a bright red light. Symbols and shadows started to appear on his walls and floor. He could feel his hand burning, as if the fire from hell itself had come to take him. A red chain appeared in the demons’ neck, but so did Alastor’s neck. It bound them together, as if to show that he would be a fool to even try and gain the upper hand in this situation. Sadly, he would learn that lesson later.
