Whumpuary: "I tried" | pinned against the wall | haunted & "I need help" | secret reveal

Work Text:

Of course Rin is a bother for Sojiro to take care of after her interrogation by Shido's goons. She's always been a bother to him, to be fair. An aggravatingly delightful bother.

“Hey, Daddy-O.” she says in the kitchen late one night while he's prepping food, standing perilously close to a fridge, historically her hunting ground for her preferred, coffee scented prey.

Sojiro looks over his shoulder, but doesn't turn around. It's very late to be slicing carrots, but we all have our coping mechanisms. “Go back to bed. You're still high.”

“Nah, I'm just trying out nicknames for you. Daddy-O, sugar sunshine, honey muffin. I'm leaning towards plain old daddy though. 'Cause you take care of me.”

A knife thunks as it's placed down. “You're definitely still high.”

The pocket of air around Sojiro heats up as Rin steps closer. “Maybe, daddy.”

“That's it. Come on, back to bed.” Removing the both of them from the presence of the fridge, which has become an erotic object for the duo, is the best course of action, or so Sojiro tells himself. His infuriating ward needs to rest, and if necessary he'll lock her in her room so it's enforced.

Instead he locks the both of them in the spare room and pins her to the wall. Rin smiles, placing her hands on his biceps, slithering them up to his shoulders.

“What is wrong with you? Why did you throw yourself into the hands of people capable of doing this? What's wrong with you?” Sojiro whispers. There's nowhere on the girl's face that is free from damage, so he only lightly touches her cheek with the back of his hand.

“I tried not to, but there was no other choice, ‘Jiro. We had to expose the traitor.”

“You could have died, idiot.”

“Worse. Much worse. I'm sorry, but Akechi and his boss needed to think I'm dead or we'd all be in extreme danger, including you. But I didn't think they'd be so brutal. That was a shock.”

“...What do you mean ‘worse’? You could've been put in a coma or suffered brain damage, if that's what you mean.”

Absolutely incredibly, tears fill the stoic Phantom Thief leader’s eyes. Even more incredibly, she bites her lip, making it obvious that she doesn't want to speak and reveal the secret.

Sojiro's skin freezes, and he shifts his weight, horror scenes filling his mind. “What do you mean, 'worse'?” he asks, all traces of anger and irritation gone from his voice.

“Sojiro, can you give me a hug, please?”

“Huh? Yeah, uh-” It's difficult to hug a stick figure you believe is going to snap at any moment, but he manages somehow. It's awkward, but still.

“I might need help.” Rin says, when she pushes him away after a few seconds.

“No shit. But what do you mean about ‘worse’? I won't let you leave this room till you tell me.”

The way Rin sits on the end of the bed is extremely portentous, her ankles locked, her hands in her lap. All the blood rushes back to her guardian's skin. It occurs to him that under the bruises and cuts she is glowing. It occurs to him that despite the horrendous weight loss she's incurred over the past few months, her breasts and stomach are looking rather fuller than usual.

The girl looks up, eyes clearly visible and very moist. “I think you already know what I mean…daddy.”
